As the fallout from last weekend’s Premier League action continues to rumble on courtesy of Wayne Rooney’s mouth, our Fantasy scores have been set in stone and we can look back at how the 256 Fantasy Managers fared in the second round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV. The full set of results can be accessed right here, and what follows is a summary of highs (and lows) of the round…

We’ll start with the top-scorer of the week cm1mds, who notched an impressive tally of 79 and soundly beat Loves when carlo reads out team on a friday by 16 points in the process. That was easily the highest aggregate scoring tie of the round, involving the 1st and 15th top-scorers for the round, with the loser having the best score not good enough to progress.

The biggest win of the second round came when Cescy_11 thrashed daiHai 71 – 24, putting an almighty 47 point gulf between them.

As for the lowest-scoring match-ups in the round, the 26 – 26 draw between Afc Chameleon and Fatmag totalled the fewest points in a game, with 10,710th Afc Chameleon progressing at the expense of his 118,460th ranked opponent.

The poorest individual score went to Aggronaut, who amassed an abysmal 13 points giving opponent MartinB an easy passage into the third round despite his score being two points below the rounds average (45).

Other than the one mentioned above there were two other drawn games, with Morpheus and newman edging kiggs85 and Dan_797 respectively, by virtue of their superior overall ranks.

Moving on to the glamour tie of the round and, oh so predictably, it was Gooner dave who ran-out a 44-30 winner against Goose. The slightly more competitive undercard bout to that main event, saw Locarno eliminate Breakballartist 58 – 55.

Any hopes of a dream match-up between Jonty and JauntyJonty were dashed at the weekend, with JauntyJonty succumbing 45 – 34 to mathsgeek. The FFS Cup II champ marches on however, after creaming Milky 55 – 49.

Another potential fairytale coming to an abrupt end was qualifier #512 RonnayBarkay‘s 61 – 47 exit at the hands of jottonolan.

The Scout Contributor’s have been cut in half again, with da Beeeez now the last remaining Scout involved. He made light work of Foolsgold, seeing him off 58 – 39. Big Dunc on the other-hand was comfortably beaten 48 – 35 by Yanky.

Congratulations to the 128 Fantasy Managers advancing, and commiserations to those leaving the competition at this stage. The third round draw for the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV will be announced in the next 48 hours.

What about those progressive overs bets? How much did that set you back?

Saw the result late last night, I bet you were delighted when P'boro scored twice in the first 10 minutes! I played it simple though, just had them in a double with Soton.

Bummer! Topics that weren’t touched on by anti united brigade and Db just because we won.

How can Berbetov not still be playin in these games.

Berbetov should stick it up united’s and leave in the summer.

    Usual anti Hernandez statements

Rooney is this and that etc has done squat etc etc….

Hopefully we will cover these topics after the 2nd leg. Till then good bye. Jeez! 😆

when giggs retires and hopefully and quite rightly gets a statue at old trafford it's a shame it will be cheapened somewhat by that michael jackson shambles at craven cottage.

a dad joke from earlier regarding the jacko statue:

not sure why fulham fans are so upset about spending thousands on a michael jackson statue. chelsea spent £50 million on their torres statue

If when Al Fayed took over back in the 90s the Fulham fans had been told their team would win three promotions and become a Premier League fixture - but that the price to pay would be the crazy Egyptian would put up a hideous Jacko statue outside the Cottage, the fans would have taken it without a second's thought.

I think it's massively lolsome. So out of place it's not true. A bit like having a statue of Johnny Haynes outside Neverland.

Strange to think back on how disliked/lowly rated Owen Hargreaves was in England before moving to Manchester United now. Or was that just how it looked to the rest of the world?

I think it was more unknown rather than disliked tbh.

He was really unpopular when Sven started picking him for England, it did look for a while that it was another of Sven's golden children. But then after a few warm up games and the 2006 World Cup, his quality shone through and all of a sudden everyone wanted a piece of him. United fought hard to get Hargreaves from Bayern and it took a year before they would agree to sell.

Yeah I remember it now you say it. I really like him as a player, shame it had to end that way.

Would have been soooooooooo useful for England too, Barry and Carrick and the others could never bring what Hargreaves brought.

hmm, you're talking about while he was playing for England? I thought you meant before that.

I can't remember him being very unpopular- maybe that passed me by.

Yeah I mean when Sven first started picking him, as Granville said. I spoke and read quite a few Englishmen back then saying they didn't like that he was picked, but as we know it changed.

By the way, I listened to Submotion Orchestra today Shogun. Excellent excellent stuff.

hope so, and hope he comes back to pre-injury level like valencia and zamora have appeared to. i'm liking the sound of his new position next season, would love another go with him, it's like the thrill of owning balotelli without having to own balotelli 😛

I was so enthusiastic - Tiote, Ben Arfa, Carroll, Barton, Nolan, Jonas, Enrique - we were shaping up really well.
Next season we'll push for top 8 with the right front man. Whatever happens Ben Arfa signing no1 for my FPL team.

Talking of players who have been unlucky with injuries, there's a weird news loop occurring in Johan Djourou's Twitter account.

      http://twitter.com/JohanDjourou

Djourou tweeted a couple of days ago "Hopefully Liverpool" in response to a question about when he aimed to be fit. This was blown up into a full article by the Daily Mail, then ESPN linked to the Mail story, and now Djourou has linked the ESPN piece on his own Twitter account as if it were breaking news. Bizarre - all this from two words.

Djourou might be fit by GW33, I guess, but then again he was confident right after he suffered the shoulder injury that he would be fit to play for Switzerland in the Euro 2012 qualifiers a week later.

No. It's the way that he's excelled through the evolution of football from the blood and guts of the 80's to modern day overhyped premadonnas that's so amazing and makes him better than anyone, who has ever lived. Can be a disgusting human being at time but he's the best.

bob paisley was up there, for his short time in charge he won loads and no doubt if mourhinho is in the game as long as fergie has been he will probably do just as well. sorry to butt in but just thought i would add a comment

Even as a United fan I'd reluctantly have to say Brian Clough possibly edges him out, just because he did it with more than one club (and f*cked over leeds in the process!)

It's Fergie's consistency under immense media pressure and scrutiny from 93- now that seperates him even from Brian imo

92/93..Fergie wins the league, Clough gets relegated, hence Fergie is a better manager. ah no, I see what you mean, it's a matter of opinion.

Just importance to the team, Odemwingie has been as good for us this season as Parker has been for West Ham. Mulumbu will without a doubt get Player of the Year at the club too.

Actually to be fair maybe not Mulumbu, you can understand why he slips under the radar being a defensive midfielder but Odemwingie would 100% if he was English imo!

I think they've been good too - Odemwingie more than Mulumbu - my thinking was just that the Englishness-factor would be bigger in a vote in the media or a jury than in a vote of the players. Guess it's not then.

For the record I am a bit suspicious on how Parker made the list. He's the anchor of the one team not capable of shutting down games and keeping his back four safe, heading for relegation. Fishy.

Yeah, Odemwingie has been immense, it annoys me in a way that when it comes to our midfield neutrals know more and rate the likes of Brunt, Thomas & Dorrans more than Mulumbu but he really is Player of the Season to the majority of West Brom fans!

Gives 100% every game, runs after everything, so much energy and his passing has come on so much since our promotion, he is our Cheik Tiote if you like!

I can understand why he goes under the radar though, obviously.

Yeah I think it's normal that the hardcore fans have greater appreciation for players of his kind who do the hard work for the club, and also that the fans know the players better than outsiders like me.

If only Odemwingie could stop being yellow flagged and an injury doubt between every gameweek I'd like him a bit more too.

Barton, Enrique, Tiote none of them are mentioned either. Mulumbu has been very good this season, I wouldn't have Odemwingie in the running though. He's occasionally been excellent but not consistent enough for my liking.

I know what you mean, I've said all season he goes through patches, and he does, he's had two games in a row where he has been superb lately so he should go on a streak where he doesn't do much and is generally useless soon.

Annoying though isn't it? Players lower down the league getting overlooked, I don't really see what has been so consistent about Nasri's season really?

Nasri was brilliant in the first have of the season and pretty average in the second. Part of me is annoyed that they aren't getting the recognition, it's just too top four orientated. I was having a mini debate with AP t'other day about the signings of the season. He thought Hernandez - I thought VDV or Tiote, if United didnt sign Hernandez they wouldnt be much worse off than they are, but we would have really struggled without Tiote who has been immense for us.
Pretty biased though I acknowledge 🙂

What about VDV, he scored a handful of penalties, tapins and goals that should not have stood. After that he started sulking and lost form.

Doesn't make the shortlist of the highly prestigious Gargamel signing of the season award.

this is where brian clough gets a good mention coz like fergie in scotland with aberdeen cloughie took a team of nobodys and turned them into the best team in europe within about 4 years if my memory serves me well. a truly great achievement, whereas mourinho has more or less inherited decent sides with reasonable spending power and made them better.

I honestly think it's a ridiculous nickname and that he should have his surname on his shirt like every other player except Brazilians, because they have 7 surnames each and it would be messy.

In my book he's Hernandez and absolutely nothing else.

Yeah good point. I remember Valencia used to be preferred in a 4-4-2 and Nani in a 4-3-3/4-5-1. Surely he will start v fulham having not started the last 2 but then they have chelsea, city, newcastle, everton in the space of about 12 days.
Another good reason to put off getting lamps in until next week, torn between selling vdv or nani.

Just checked the last 4 gwk stats:

Rooney 18 goal attemps; 12 on target. Way ahead of everyone else. Makes the decision to sell him less inviting.

Lampard has had more shots on target than any other midfielder. Given the forthcoming oppo, Lampard seems a worthy investment.

I've may have just gone a little mad, but at the heart of all things is the truth that I'm living the dream!

The team to claw back to the top of my mini-league:

    Foster
    Luiz/Rafael/Walker
    Bale/Lampard(c)/Walcott/Valencia
    Suarez/RvP/Tevez

    Subs: Begovic/Adam/Jones/Carr

See above we were chatting about that before. Defo a risk now with valencia back and a clogged fixture list. I'm considering selling next week, it's him or vdv for lampard.
Can't see him not starting vs fulham but then they have chelsea & city before the newcastle game.
Problem is everyone owns him so you if keep him and he doesn't start it won't have much affect but if you sell and he gets some big scores then around 1 million people will gain those points on you.

Yeah...I had planned to swap out VDV for Lampard just to get him back later...but I'd lose cash...if Nani is a doubt in terms of playing time it would seem he should be my first choice...Arg...too many variables...least it seems there is a general nervousness and not just my inner voices freaking out on me...hahahaha...!!!

I'm concerned about him too now. Valencia's return may be more significant than first thought.

I was thinking of ridding Rooney to get Lampard but I'm now having doubts when you look at how influential Rooney has been of late.

The only way I can get Lampard and Luiz in is via Nani. Will await team news nearer to Saturday.

Well...not in your starting team but your bench would need some changes i would imagine...so unless you're saving transfers for something I'd say Stockdale, Kelly and maybe even Zigic would need to go...although the first two are more urgent...

Kelly to Walker and Stockdale to Mignolet?

I can be an early bird, but 245 is definitely pushing it! Hong Kong here. To make things worse I'll be in charge of football training for a team of 10-11 year olds this afternoon, and only one of them can speak English.

You try learning Cantonese - 9 tones and if you use the wrong tone it makes no sense.

I've tried and when I try and say something in Cantonese they just start laughing!

Ok, first transfer poser of the day...in GW33, which is best (no hits):

    (A) Fabs & VDV -> Lampard & Walcott
    (B) Fabs & VDV -> Lampard & Adam
    (C) Baines & Nani -> Lampard & Walker
    (D) Nani & Kelly -> Terry & Adam

Add two more options & number them 1 to 6.

Use http://www.bgfl.org/bgfl/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks1/maths/dice/six.htm & you are set for this gameweek. 😉

Not A or B - I'd keep fabs if youve got him, until after GW33.

      So, C, I guess...

I was vocally anti-Lampard for a while, but now even I'm bringing him in.

I think C or D. C gives an easier captain choice but D gets rid of clag. Hmmm.

Your biggest hit disagrees with you.

                GW 11 25 1,857,669 4 508 105.5 618,801

                GW 12 38 1,557,090 5 16 530 104.6 908,067

22 for a gameweek & losing nearly 300K overall lol.

No - it doesn't - I had a completely wrong team, seduced by early season arguments about cheap defences, etc. - so I took the decision to rework it, over the decision to give up. Gained 800,000 places since then ...

    So, how does this sound...

    Rooney and Bentley out

    Sturridge and Lampard in

I was idly clinging onto Bentley for the DGW, but now he's not even starting, so he can eff off.

    And next week...

    Howard out
    Cech in

Fulham at home was one of his better fixtures.

And... he has 0 games where lampard has 3.

Who's the best cheap(5.3 or less) forward? With Best out for the season i'm thinking Lovenkrands(really cheap @ 4.2)? Considering Ameobi(even cheaper @ 4.1) as well, he plays deeper but he's on pens, though his injury record makes RVP look like Lampard 😀

Sturridge, i think, is 5.3, and has a double in gw34.

Even though he hasn't scored for 2 games, he had 5 shots on target in the last game, and 1 off target. So I think he'll a) keep his place and b) start scoring again.

Only problem is if you have too many players with blanks in gw33

Which one please (I only have 1 free)

    a) Tevez > Gyan - VDV > Lampard
    b) Tevez > Gyan - Nasri > Lampard
    c) Djourou > Walker - Jara > A.N.other cheap defender
    d) A combo of above

I'd say A, but i'm not sure about Gyan. He's a great player but i don't think he's getting the service.

How about A with a different choice of striker? I know sunderland have good fixtures, but that includes playing teams fighting for their lives.
