The second day of a Gameweek that stretches across three, presents us with a double-bill of meaningful Premier League fixtures. First up we’re at Bloomfield Road to see if Arsenal can keep up the pace with league leaders against a plucky Blackpool side. The hosts are in the middle of an intriguing relegation battle, and will be desperate to build some confidence at home as they begin a four-game home stint. The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for business, where you can follow the action as it happens.

The team news is in and here is how they line-up…

Blackpool XI: Kingson, Baptiste, Evatt, Cathcart, Crainey, Adam, Southern, Taylor-Fletcher, Puncheon, Campbell, Varney

Arsenal XI: Lehmann, Eboue, Squillaci, Koscielny, Clichy, Diaby, Fabregas, Wilshere, Nasri, van Persie, Arshavin

The Seasiders welcome back their star striker DJ Campbell from suspension, who will be raring to go having missed the last three. The only deviation from the eleven we expected is that Keith Southern starts at the expense of Elliot Grandin.

As for the visitors, Arsene Wegner opts to leave Theo Walcott on the bench despite the damage he inflicted on Blackpool at the Emirates. Bacary Sagna isn’t passed fit so Emmanuel Eboue starts at right-back, and a late injury in the warm-up for Manuel Almunia sees Jens Lehmann come in. What a story.

Following that game, Aston Villa are also seeking survival (and revenge for the reverse fixture this season) against their opponents today . Newcastle United are so close to that widely-regarded safety-mark of 40 points, so we should expect both sides to be going for the points.

Once again, the Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and available by clicking here.

Thinking about bringing in Terry for Coleman to triple up on the Chelsea defense with Terry/Luiz/Cech. Just stupid? I know Chelsea aren't guaranteed a clean sheet next week but I think they have a good chance every game the rest of the way except for @ Man U. Which could be a shutout if Man U plays for a draw...

I don't think it's particulary ballsy. Even without a clean sheet, it's still 4 points for each player for the double. And after that they have decent games. Not many teams are keeping clean sheets anyway. It's a pretty good move if you don't want to spend money on Lamps.

Honestly, I'm thinking of it because I'm less ballsy. I'm scared to sell Nani/VdV for a Chelsea attacker for fear they'll make it their personal crusade to haunt me... Selling Coleman means the guy I transfer out won't destroy me. I hope.

Van Persie was my captain, so I'm happy... But how fabregas didn't get the 3 bonus points makes me laugh.

He absolutely ruled that game and if his team mates weren't so wasteful he would've had about 6 assists. That's not even an exaggeration!

Mind you, if everyone had taken their chances, van persie would've had six GOALS!

Anyone think they should just let a computer choose the bonus points based on opta stats... It might not be perfect because stats don't tell the whole story... but surely it would be better than the current system!!

Just to Devil's Advocate here ---

But he didn't *get* the assists. I only watched the first half, but he wasn't head-and-shoulders above the rest, then. Diaby, Van Persie, Wilshere all seemed his equal, IMO.

Stats don't always show the whole picture, either. Granted, the mystical and inscrutable system currently used can be irritating -

I think most people on here who watched the game felt van Persie would get 3 and Fabs 2 actually.

Van Persie's contribution had a much more significant effect on the outcome of the game than Fabs' did.

I think the bonus judges got this one spot on.

      I wouldn't get RJ.

In fact, I plan on selling him the week after. He's a one gameweek wonder, and when one of the games in the double is against Chelsea, he probably won't be worth the hit.

Selling Nani is also an unnecessary risk.

I'd sell Nasri before him. After the double gameweek he's got tough fixtures and he's been much less prolific of late.

Walcott is a decent punt though...

Nani: now prone to rotation and fixtures tighten.

        Fair points..

        1. RJ has been a home banker, even when Brum concede, he gets BP and assists for even ticklin the ball.. though after the DGW there are only 2 home games for brum

        2. I would only sell Nani if united make it through to the UCL semis.. I have kept rooney. Valencia has got the RW spot nailed on , giggs park and nani compete for the left.. I don't see it as much of a risk with only limited GWs remaining and Rooney being the main nailed on attacker for United

        3. Nasri has a double, 4 pts guaranteed. He is gone in Week 34 but to sell him this week before a double feels silly.

        4. I really really like Walcott's potential for the double. Arshavin was absolutely awful against Bpool and can see Walcott keeping his place.

You made 2 moves already??? Clearly you are not worried about injuries in the UCL :p

I'd go one step further, Camzy.

I got rid of Nasri this gw for Adam. I don't think this Arsenal double is nice at all and, as I said in an earlier post, after this Blackpool game that's the end of their nice run of fixtures.

I also agree that after this dgw I'd be thinking of shipping out Johnson too.

        Do not sell Nani.

After this gw33 people should start looking at teams like Wolves, Villa, Fulham, Bolton because they have some productive fantasy players at cheap as chips prices. Got some nice fixtures too.

Nomar - would you sell VDV/Young for Adam this week? I agree with Camzy, It does not feel right to sell Nasri prior to a double(although he has done f-all while in my team).

Young has nice fixtures and no one in my league has him. VDV starting to irritate me. I will prob get him back for the double though. or Modric maybe?

Adam has gone 2 games without scoring decent points and will surely do well vs Wigan?

In the battle of the Gods, Bill Carson kindly recommended Smalling -> RJ this week and I'd do Coleman -> Huth next week. Camzy wouldn't get RJ in... any other thoughts for a Smalling replacement? Thanx.

Why not save a trsfr? have 2 free trades for gw 34 doubles?

gasmble and save the transfer. The extra week will tell you if you need to ditch smalling/coleman later. Selling the wrong one now is worse

That was my original plan but that would mean playing Simpson against Man U & gambling Coleman is fit... assuming Smalling doesn't play. Heh... it's doing my head in!

Anyone else has a similar shortlist for the doubles in GW 34? (I dont own any of these players yet)

Dempsey seems to be the Lampard of GW34

O'Hara and Jarvis both decent shouts and they have good fixtures till the end, but Wolves are 1 point from the bottom after all

Sturridge is in good form but BOL's fixtures for the double are pretty terrible

Huth has good fixtures for GW 34-35 and I need a replacement for Coleman, but is it worth transferring him in for two gameweeks

    Anyone else worth considering?

It seems like we're in the same boat. I've looked at Huth/Hangeland as a Coleman replacement, considered Odem -> Dembele/Sturridge, didn't bother looking at Wolves. I can't find anything that I can get excited about. I'm almost hoping for an injury to help me decide!

Wolves: O Hara might be worth a look and has the fix for the rest of the season.

Stoke: Bergovic for me. I checked the last 4 gwk stats on Friday and Huth still tops goal attempts. Hard to look beyond those two.

Bolton: Not great fix and safe from relegation. Sturridge maybe but those with a RVP/Rooney/Odemthingywingy forward line will need some persuading to bring him in. Cahill second only to Huth in goal attempts. Avoid.

Fulham: better fix and I suppose Hangeland, Dempsey and possibly, Bobby Row Z, are the main candidates.

Somehow drawn to O Hara out of that lot possibly as a slight bias for the Wolves.

I'm not a big fan of bringing in defenders for double gweeks. I suppose Hangeland could be a good shout. I won't go for G Cahill though. I have Shawx and will be hoping for 4pts, after which he is toast.

The mid's / strikers tend to cash in during the doubles. I was thinking Jarvis, but Wolves really looked pathetic this weekend.

Demspey is always a good shout over a double. He scored 18pts in the last double earlier this year.

Well I thought it makes sense to get Lampard in earlier rather than later to take advantage of the Wigan game (and Luiz).

With the unholy hit - just had too many players out and with the dgw approaching, it was justified.

Film themes. Onto Westerns now so homage to the greatest film ever 😉

Wish I just kept Berba and done Saha-->Sturridge. Would have meant 84 pts and a 4 pt hit avoided.

At least i have 5 double gweekers allready, while my rivals only have foster. They both have 2 free trades though.

I know nothing about Westerns. Is John Wayne still alive?

I think it also depends who you need replaced. My top priorities are Nasri(to free up some cash), Bentley, and Coleman

          Probably going to do:

          O Hara/Jarvis & Dempsey in for Nasri & Bentley

considering taking a 4 point hit to bring in Sturridge in for Hoilett(seems like quite a lateral transfer),

or Huth/Hangeland in for Coleman(But I might just leave Coleman in for the rest of the season to save on a transfer)

Dawson makes some appeal too at 5.1. I wouldn't go overboard on these dgw players. None are really heavy points scorers.

    Doubt over Smalling's game time.

Let's say Man Utd get thru the next stage of UCL.
Which following match will he start ?

    12/04 CHE (UCL) Rio
    16/04 MCY (FA) Rio ?
    19/04 new (EPL) Smalling ?
    23/04 EVE (EPL) Smalling ?
    26/04 away (UCL) Rio ?
01/05 ars (EPL) Rio ? or Smalling if ARS dropped points.
    04/05 HOME (UCL) Rio ?

imo .. It seems we can expect him to start the next gameweek.

Most amazing game of Fifa ever.

    5-5 and I lost 6-5 on penalties.

I was 3-0 up at one stage but got pegged back to 4-4 at the 90 after he scores two in injury time. It was probably just lazy play on my part towards the end.

He scores in the 104th and I equalize in the 117th.

Penalties were all really good, so it was sheer luck if you managed to save one. I got unlucky unfortunately. Still, scoring a 117th minute equalizer after scoring and letting in 5 is just an amazing feeling.
