Over 460 Fantasy Managers put their name in the hat for the Members’ Paddy Power Cup and now, eight rounds later, we are down to our final two. Before previewing the Grand Final, let’s take a look at how both finalists negotiated their way through the Semis…

Zophar 61 – 75 Kippax Kloggers

Roostars 66 – 71 The Hunt

In our first Semi-Final, big favourite Zophar suffered a hefty 14-point defeat at the hands of Kippax Kloggers. In a very similar fashion to his Quarter-Final dismissal of Cup legend Gooner dave, Kippax Kloggers’ win came courtesy of a strong defensive showing. With most of the outfield ‘cancelled out’, it was left to a double of Everton clean sheets and a bargain Manchester United one to ultimately prove the difference between the two sides. If Zophar -currently ranked 14th in the world in Fantasy Premier League (FPL)- can recover from this trauma, then he could possibly go win the whole thing, and we certainly wish him the best of luck in doing so.

The second Semi was a much tighter affair, with the key differentials being David Luiz in a 4-5-1 for Roostars, to Peter Odemwingie in a 3-4-3 for The Hunt. Roostars is also left bemoaning his failed four-point hit; removing Rafael van der Vaart and the suspended Wayne Rooney wasn’t costly, but replacing the pair with Frank Lampard and Javier Hernandez hardly turned out to be a fruitful move.

So, to the Final…

Kippax Kloggers Vs. The Hunt

Ranked 2,772nd in the world, Kippax Kloggers takes an early lead (effectively half a point) against 9,996th overall The Hunt. As it stands, he also goes into the double Gameweek an Arsenal player up (Samir Nasri) which could prove vital should The Hunt not level that particular balance. An interesting potential differential is Kippax Kloggers’ Fernando Torres to The Hunt’s David Luiz. Having said that I imagine Luiz will, like with many others, be high on Kippax Kloggers’ wish list.

The winner, of course, grabs all the glory which comes with a fantastic prize of £75 worth of free bets, as the runner-up takes the very healthy consolation of £100 worth of free bets.

Don’t forget that it’s also Zophar Vs. Roostars for third place, with the victor pocketing a cool £50 worth of free bets.

I’ll bring results of both matches next week when we crown the first ever winner of the Members-only Paddy Power Cup.

If you’re not with Paddy Power yet, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10. (All offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.)

I don't think its worth really on having 3 arsenal players in midfield and attack, I do think Walcott could score well this gameweek though, so its down to whether you think he can score 4 more than VDV and that you wont miss VDV in good fixture in G34.

I would use tonight to judge it, I dont think VDV has been playing well myself but I reckon he should come good.

And there is the double in GW36 too. I think I will go with A - just doesn't seem right not doing anything when there are juicy doubles - even though I do have 6 already this GW and 4 the following.

Appreciate a bit of advise on my team…

    Foster Al-Habsi
    Vidic Coleman Luiz Walker Kelly
    Nani Fabregas Adam VDV Barton
    RVP Odemwingie Tevez

Thinking about what changes to make, willing to take a point hit too as my main rival has taken an 8 point hit.

    1) Barton and Tevez to Lampard and Hoilett

Its likely that Hoilett will be a sub for the next two gameweeks because I would play the other 7 over him and will probs change Odemwingie to someone like Zamora in Gameweek 34….Or

    2) Coleman, Barton and Tevez to Djourou, Lampard and Sturridge

    OR

    3) Vidic, Barton and Tevez to Djourou, Lampard and (Carroll or Zamora)??

    OR

    4) Tevez to Drogba??

Dont think i would be getting djourou as hes unlikley to play 2 games( i might be wrong).

Sturridge is a good shout for a next game week.

Tevez injured and has a blank could be a good time to change him but you will probably want him back.

to me i think vidic should be kept in the team for this week. mayb barton and tevez out for either lampard or drogba plus a cheap mid or striker dpeending on your choice...

Cheers, so you reckon my first transfer to get rid of Barton and Tevez for Lampard and Hoilett would be the best option?

If I was to bring Drogba in for Tevez, I wouldn't take out Barton, I would just keep him as a sub.

yeh that would be my choice. dont no if you can but sturridge over hoilett if you can afford to leave him on the bench.

I have Lampard but drogba isnt a bad shout either..

Im going for Lampard and Hoilett, even though Sturridge has a double in G34, I think I would rather have Zamora or Caroll in then? Hoilett will provide good cover for you either playing or on the bench

Him So I was sent to do a feature on Moulin Rouge! at Cannes, which was a great send anyway. Basically my brief was to see who Nicole Kidman was shagging – what she was doing, poking through her bins and get some stuff on her. So Murdoch’s paying her five million quid to big up the French and at the same time paying me £5.50 to fu.ck her up . . . So all hail the master. We’re just pawns in his game. How perverse is that?

murdoch is evel. always known it, but thats just unreal.

This is great http://yes.thatcan.be/my/next/tweet/ - stick in FFScout to get predictions for what will happen next. Highlights for me so far:

"Chicharito tipped to face Fulham on his side. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake to be ready too."

"Fraizer Campbell ruled out of the central midfield trio of the central midfield trio of Phil Jones."

"Gareth Bale has filled Gerrards boots brilliantly, says he will be out of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and O'Shea!"

    So there you have it.

          Biochemically it very much is.

Sugar is deemed "bad for you" cos its bad for your teeth and an empty calorie.

In reality its far far worse. Its messes with your hormone regulation so you cant feel full so you eat more, it causes rises in insulin which cause you to both store fat and prevent you from burning fat. This high insulin leads to insulin resistance which causes type 2 diabetes.

Whats more your body cant break down fructose so it sends it to liver where it is turned into FAT. This then can cause more insulin resistance, fat leakage causing liver damage the same as excessive alcholol consumption over years.
It also causes other chemicals which increase blood pressure and plaque formation in your blood vessels.

Sugar is in everything. Its killing people and whats worse were being told to eat Carbohydrates to ensure the economy has a produce to sell and export.

So yes sugar is bad for you but it is ground breaking since for 40 years its been deemed "healthy"

Absolute nonsense. It has been a well known fact for ages that excess sugar makes people fat, can cause diabetes and damages your liver.

There a difference between its been known and its been acceptted by the government, AHA or ADA and then advised.

If you dont believe me go check the food intake recommendations.

The science behind it is still completely ignored. So do fill me in on this please. And no its not excess sugar - its any sugar.

In short yes if you eat it from unrefined sources. Fructose is found in every food which is unrefined. (fiber taken out) which means literally everything you eat from bread, to ketchup, to sweets to flour to rice etc has lots of unrefined fructose

If you as say eat it in fruits it comes with fiber which negates alot of its effects.

                    Ps..

                    Kingston

If you eat sugar in even small amounts it drives fat into fat cells through its insulin regulation. Eventually you will get fat as the majority of every population are nowadays. So chronic eating of sugar will make you fat or accumulate fat.

Eating sugar causes insulin resistance which leads to pre diabetes and eventually diabetes. Again chronic intake leads to diabetes. Again see recent figures

Eating sugar causes fat linking as they call if from the liver a starting point of liver disease and poor functioning. Again over chronic consumption it leads to this.

Show me a man who has only ever eating on mouthful of sugar in his life. You argument is as weak as saying smoking doesnt cause lung cancer cos im fine now after having one

Its a chronic behavior and highly addictive on a hormonal level

Kingston dont play such childish games with such a serious topic.

You eat high cho meal - which is the norm in modern culture it both messes with leptin (which tells you your full) and doesnt prevent ghrelin which makes you feel empty. So you keep eating.

If you want to have a serious debate then lets talk about the science and not merely your against what im saying with no basis....

We are dealing with a field of evidence based science.

There is no space for opinions to be left without any evidence.

He made a point - incorrect, I pointed him towards the research that shows its incorrect, hence the essay.

Its a new field. There is certainly no cause and effect established yet but the major researchers are very concerned the more the find.

Just read page 9 of that article quoting Cancer researchers regarding sugar, insulin resistance and cancer.

It needs more research but it is concerning. Certainly doesnt mean cos there is no diff link yet we go on as usual and ignore the links so far.

Depends what food you are talking about.
Eating sugar is not good for health and may lead to cancer new research is leading to this.

The RDA for sugar consumption do not take anything of this into account. They are made up from nothing and just a random number with no basis behind them.

Others of course is lethal if you dont have enough / go under. Vitamins and minerals for example.

if its for a free you not think it would be worth bringing in another double game week player for someone like kelly? maybe carr or r johnson if affordable.

Considering the following transfers but can't decide which one to do.

    a) VDV & Nasri -> Adam & Fabs
    b) VDV & Nani -> Adam & Fabs
    c) Nani & Barton -> Fabs & Other Mid under £4.3m

Dont agree. But it's not so much the Vidic part but the Evra part, he's been garbage when I've seen him and that's what season ticket holders I know have said too.

Evra's had a poor season by his standards and Vidic has had a much better one, but Kompany has had an even better one. People are treating Vida's performances as godlike, when they've been nothing above what he's done before, which is in fairness a high standard.

It's cool, I think Vidic deserves the praise he's been getting, he and Giggsy are the only United players I really like tho (as much as I could like a United player 😉 ) so I may be slightly biased!

that journo has got it completly wrong. He would have been more credible if he was questioning why Nani is not up for PFA player as he has been the BEST player at Utd this season!

in fact he has been the most consistent player all season and prob deserves to win it!

Scott Parker and Charlie Adam play for teams like West Ham and Blackpool for a reason, because they're not good enough for the best sides.

Man Utd are also top for a reason, because they have better players than the other sides.

I actually find it insulting that Parker and Adam, two players playing for sides virtually in the relegation zones, are up for the award and Nani - the best player all season - isn't.

Geez, you're starting to argue like Akers. Stick to the point, young fella - this isn't about Charlie bloody Adam.

Best player = best player in the League. Not best player in the best team in the League.

What if it was a three-way tie at the top, which it could have been if Arsenal and Citeh had a heart between them? Your theory is dead in the water.

Turning your argument around, Obertan is a good player because he plays for United.

That's not quite true, though, is it?

Obertan is young and doesn't actually play for Utd. Hardly comparable to Parker who has been around for a while, had a chance at a big club, was shit, and is now 'single-handedly' (so we're told) leading West Ham to a mighty 18th in the Premier League.

Again, you're missing the point (on purpose?). I'm not saying Parker or Adam deserve it, I'm saying choosing the winner only from the United side is ridiculous.

Someone mentioned Le Tissier... perfect example.

I did initially say that it's in most cases, perhaps Le Tissier was a counter example - I didn't see enough of him.

My point isn't that PFA Player of the Year should automatically be the best player in the best team, more that the chances are that the team winning the league, in this case running away with it, will undoubtedly have had players that have performed better than all the others in the league, and will most probably have had the single best player in the league for that season.

Maybe it's not the case here, but le Tissier was the best player in the league for about 3 seasons and he only ever played for a rubbish club. Being surrounded by less able players and still putting in outstanding performances should be appreciated. The Big Clubs get enough bloody attention already.

While we're on news related topics have a gander at this. It prob won't be of interest to people outside of Ireland to be fair http://www.independent.ie/opinion/columnists/john-drennan/john-drennan-poles-in-fear-of-starved-irish-influx-2615055.html the last paragraph I find unbelievable.

This week more so than any other DGW of the season I will be very interested in the Scouting the Doubles posts. I only have Luiz/RVP/Nasri/Carr and Foster and am debating all things wild and wonderful to get either Drogba/Lampard/Cole in to my team, it is impossible to predict what kindof response Chelsea will provide to the recent disappointments, will they steamroll West Brom and Birmingham, or struggle like the rest of their fixtures of late? Can they just find form?

Tune in tomorrow, same Bat channel, same Bat time.
