Enthused by last week’s “Fantasy Flutter” haul thanks to the magnificent brace from Scout Pick Daniel Sturridge, it’s time to darken Paddy Power’s door once again, brandishing a freshly earned tenner with an unmistakable air of smugness about us. Who says the bookies always win?

So with Sturridge coming in for us last weekend, we’d be mad not to look for a similar bet and back a couple of strikers. Everton’s Jermaine Beckford and West Ham’s Demba Ba are names that have been hovering around our Scout Pick reckoning all week, so we went to Paddy to fetch some exclusive specials on that front pairing.

We can get odds of 8/1 on Beckford to fire a brace against Blackburn at Goodison this weekend, while Ba is at 9/1 to inflict similar damage to Villa’s defence. We’ll dip into both of those with a quid on each.

Robin Van Persie is of course the other striker in our Scout Picks this week – that was pretty inevitable given his double fixture against Liverpool and Spurs in the gameweek. While the Dutchman is at short odds to score in those games, we went to Paddy for a double gameweek combination. They’ve come back with odds of 9/2 on Van Persie to score anytime against both Liverpool and Spurs. Such is his strike rate this season, we will confidently slap down another two quid on that one.

While we’re showing confidence in that trio strikers, we’ve happily turned out backs on the Fantasy prospects of Fernando Torres, despite the double fixture for Chelsea within the gameweek. What chance of El Nino drawing a blank against both West Brom and Birmingham we asked? Paddy came back with 5/4 on another couple of blanks for Chelsea’s £50 million man – that might be worth a couple of quid for giggles, but we’ve got other targets in mind for our remaining funds.

We switch our sights to the Scout Picks midfield and, while we’ve backed Van Persie to score in both the gameweek 33 fixtures, what price Cesc Fabregas to do the same? Paddy have handed us 12/1 on the Gunners skipper to notch in those games – we’ll have another tentative punt on that.

Charlie Adam is alongside the Arsenal man in our Scout Picks midfield and will surely be a key threat to Wigan in a must win encounter for both sides at Bloomfield Road. Paddy are offering 5/1 on Adam to notch from the spot in that game, with 5/2 on a goal from open play. We will take those odds on a penalty kick given what’s at stake against the Latics.

Our final midfield flutter lands at the feet of Birmingham’s double gameweek prospect Craig Gardner. Joint top scorer with Nikola Zigic on 8 goals this term and likely to be lining up spot-kicks, Gardner looks a very decent option. Paddy have come up with 10/3 on an anytime goal against Sunderland – we’ll slap our biggest stake on this one – £3 goes the way of Gardner to score this weekend in our “Flutter of the Week.”

As always, our final bet goes on our Clean Sheet Accumulator. With just a solitary pound remaining, it goes on shutouts for Everton (vs Blackburn), Birmingham (vs Sunderland) and Chelsea (vs West Brom) this weekend. If you want to back your Chelsea defensive acquisition individually, Paddy are also offering 11/4 on Carlo Ancelotti’s side to claim two clean sheets over the gameweek.

That’s our tenner spent once again then – thrown in Paddy’s direction with a certain swagger after last week’s victory. Fetch profit again this week and we even might let Granville “go large” with his drive thru. Good luck to all our fellow flutterers for the weekend.

A reminder that Paddy Power are still offering £20 of bets for free for those who sign-up and bet a tenner. Click here to get involved.

This offer is only available to those aged 18 and over and is subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I beg you not to do it.

Don't go overboard on DGW fever, Adam and Nani are by far better prospects for the long run, and Ferguson is unlikely to get more than 4/5 this week, so is not worth losing one of them.

Save your transfer for next week when you can bring in a cheap player with a DGW from Stoke, Bolton, Wolves or Fulham.

      Okay, okay.

Like Panucci, I am a Champions League winner, was born in a Mediterranean country and have played in Italy. However, I have only played in two leagues, and chose not to play for the country of my birth (for the most part at least).

I was known as a real free-kick specialist in Serie A, retiring in 2006. I have five league titles to my name, two in Italy, but have only played in two major interntional tournaments.

I'm now a manager of a big club, who am I?

    FINAL DECISION

vanPersie gets the armband. I'm just thinking...

If Chelsea win 4-0 could lampard realistically only get 3 points? YES!

If Arsenal win 2-1 could vanPersie realistically only get 2 points? NO!

van Persie is ALWAYS involved in arsenal goals... So even if they score half the goals of chelsea, he's still a better pick imo.

    Who's with me on this?

I find myself wanting a team i hate to win an important match, a team i like to lose a relgation scrap...

Need to take a view on how the games are likely to turn out. ARS have the harder fix but are the better team.

I just feel that with CHS averaging 15 shots per game, someone is in for a beating at some point.

Sorry...just been watching a dvd, Frozen, some ppl stuck up a ski lift for a week top of a mountain. Crazy and improbable but thats Hollywood. 😉

To your team: just remember I play the game differently so cheap gks/5 cheapish defs that I rotate, playing 3.

So I wouldn't have Cech: Bergovic and Sczczny go well together.

2 BIR defs mean you lose cs potential every time they concede which is quite often. Luiz is a good buy.

You have my midfield with the exception of Bale who I'd want to see some form first and even then, he doesn't do enough to justify a place. Not great fix either.

The forwards are fine although you'll be hoping Carroll holds his form in harder fix. Personally would rather see RVP and Rooney in the front 2 with a cheap fwd.

In fact that would be my priority: Rooney. You have no Man U either which would concern me. You'll need to take some hits to get him though so you may as well sit tight with what you've got.

Stay as you are for this week and look at changing Bale for Dempsey next week.

Ok first 8 Point hit of the season coming up.No am not getting carried away by the DGW[or atleast I hope so]

    Hoilett - Doubtful
Walker - Rotation risk with Cuellar back in the fold
    Nani - Rotation risk
    Huth,Tevez,Ethers - No game
Coleman - doubtful[don't think he will start even if he was fit]

so thats 7 out of my 13 Outfield players who are doubtful or out.

    Coleman>Terry
    Tevez>Caroll
    VDV>Lampard

really dont think vdv or coleman should be priorities to get out right now mate

both are likely to play this week, especially when compared to the rest of your team.

i think coleman is more likely to start than nani...didnt realise hoilett was doubtful but if so why not get rid of tevez, hoilett and nani for lampard, carroll and someone else? (how much left?)

But Moyes remains coy over Coleman, and even if he is fit would Moyes change a Team which played well against Wolves?

VDV will definitely play, but not satisfied with his returns.

the team will be changed im sure... lots of important players retutning... not sure if coleman is one of those changes though, admittedly. but at his price, whenever he DOES start he is great value, and when he doesnt start, he isnt necessarily coming on as a sub, so you dont always get 1 point, but often a sub off your bench.

I was born on an island in the Pacific, and have played in 6 different European nations including England, Italy and Spain. I'm a World Cup and Champions League winner, yet have only won a domestic title in Greece.

so of those 3, the third... maybe smalling to terry as well if you fancy it... chelsea very likely to keep at least 1 clean sheet. (I think it's about 75% according to bookies)

SAF played Smalling in EPL so Rio would be available for CL. FA Cup more important than Newcastle game a few days later, so why wouldn't SAF play Rio in Cup and Smalling in EPL? SAF knows Rio is a injury waiting to happen.

    Hey guys
I play the sportal league, mainly because I only found out about the official game via this site, which I came across a bit late. I'm hoping to get some advice regarding team selection (remembering the budget works very differently in the sportal league). My mini league has AU$500 to the winner, and I'm currently sitting pretty at the top, but only by a little.

    Current team is...
    Friedel (hart)
Baines Cole Evra (kolarov, glen johnson)
Nani, Lampard, Fabregas, A Young (VDV)
    Rooney RVP Drogba

I have 5 trades left for the season, with a maximum of two allowed per week. Money is pretty much not a concern - have a load in the bank.

So basically, i can't decide who to captain, and who to trade out. Going to dump Hart for Cech i think, but that's all I've decided on, as trades are pretty precious now - burned a few too many early on.

I know you're all mostly concerned with the official one but yes - would really appreciate some opinions.

Well done on coming top. I was about 16th at one point but have been sliding in recent weeks. Play against mates in the H2H and that battle has been higher priority 😉

Chec is certainly the best option. I'm captaining Lampard.

Is G Johnson injured still. If so he's the candidate for second trade. Your team is good enough that the 4 remaining trades should see you through.

Was planning on keeping Johnson on the bench - Liverpool's fixtures mean he wouldn't get any game time anyway over Baines, Evra,Cole and Kolarov - but he should be back in time for Liverpool's final two, which are decent i think, from memory.

But to be clear - not top top. Just top of my H2H league. Coming about 300th overall, so not that great.

I'm leanging on Lampard too for the armband - feel that Chelsea should get two clean sheets, which is basically the equivalent to RVP scoring twice.

I think Carlo will play Drogba, because if he wants any chance of a trophy and perhaps keeping his job, he's going to need to win every game. Drogba is the only one of the two who's shown he can find the net.

I agree with you i need manu coverage but im thinking of waiting until gw37 and 38, since their fixtures are difficult til then. I might take your advice on rooney though.

Also, i'm thinking bale is cheap enough to take the risk on with his gw36 dbl (inc blackpool) and possibility of an explosion anytime... May well change him next week though.

Although just checked the last 2 gwk stats: Drogba 12 shots/4 on target.

He's second only to Sturridge who has had an amazing 15 shots at goal with 10 on target. That's impressive form.

Seems like he will only really prosper if you build your attacking formation around him, which we are not likely to do yet. Drog will need to leave to enable this I reckon. He sort of lives in Villa's shadow for Spain as well now? Ultimately,he has not really looked very good for 18 months now though so his form is no surprise. I don't believe that one goal will even spark him back to the 'old Torres'.

Last year's injury must still be a factor coupled with a new team, new systems, etc must all factor in to the equation.

If last year's injury is still a factor I would be extremely concerned as to why this is. He has had nearly 12 months to recover. He was only 26.

Morning. Right, stumped. Some help please chaps. In order to raise funds for Tev to Drog either a) lamps to malouda b) nasri to Walcott c) nani to 8.5m or less mid (cannot be Adam, chels or arse). None really appeal to be honest! Thanks.

imo, dont do a or b.
c is an ok option... do you have room on bench for a gw34 dbl player?

I am convinced Drog will start tomorrow, probably both games. And need to get rid of Tev for someone.

yeah true. I know it's not a terrible transfer. Just I personally hate worrying about starting lineups

Would mean playing Barton and relying on no injuries to field XI. Not ideal.

Nani option for me, si. Reduced game time I reckon. Young, Dempsey, O Hara are options with good fix. Osman/Cahill possibles too.

Want to get rid of Nani, I think. Seems like he is going to be used in home games mainly? Would love him for everton (h) though. He could well play at newcastle too. Frustrating. I suddenly thought of Bale then checked his stats. Awful. PFA player of the year? Do me a favour.

Well for me, this time next week, everyone will be buying in Dempsey and Sturridge. Nani->Dempsey makes sense.

Sounds good - I would love Clint(Not the actor BC) but make it dufficult(?) to get Roonpig(who I beleive hear is essential..) for the run in.

So Ethers might be my pick since Stoke play Blackpool the week after the double.

I'm truly fooked for this week (partly self inflicted). Need some help on where to place my next transfer -

    Foster (Robbo)
    Luiz, Coleman, Clark (Kolarov, Kelly)
    Adam, Nasri, Young, Nani (Dempsey)
    RVP (c), Bent, Wellbeck

I'm trying to decide - patch my defense or go for glory with Lamps or Rooney?

    I could -
    A - Kelly>Terry
    B - Nasri or Nani > Lamps
    C - Bent > Rooney

Bleurgh. I used my freebie already to get Adam in the team not realizing how little cover I had in defence but then again a big score from Lamps or Rooney may be greater then even a couple of cleanies.

Theyre all good trades, Maybe youve got your priorities in the right order, too. A is the best move i think.
