There’s just one Premier League fixture this fine Tuesday night, as Manchester United look to strengthen their grip on the title with a visit up to St. James Park and Newcastle United. The Dugout Discussion chatroom has been opened, and offers you a place for your musings as the action unfolds.

As is unfortunately the norm nowadays, there have been one or two differing team sheets for tonight’s game being passed about on Twitter, but this is how they line-up…

Newcastle XI: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Jose Enrique, Barton, Guthrie, Tiote, Gutierrez, Lovenkrands, Ameobi

Man United XI: Van der Sar, O’Shea, Smalling, Vidic, Evra, Nani, Carrick, Anderson, Giggs, Hernandez, Rooney

The home side are as predicted meaning that Tim Krul replaces the injured Steve Harper. Elsewhere, Cheik Tiote comes straight back into the Toon midfield, with banned Kevin Nolan missing out.

As for the visitors, Chris Smalling replacing Rio Ferdinand doesn’t come as a shock given the latter’s recent injury record. Neither is it a surprising that Luis Nani starts at the expense of Antonio Valencia. One piece of team news that does raise an eyebrow is the total omission of Dimitar Berbatov to the United squad, with no late injury news to report of as yet (EDIT: Sir Alex Ferguson says Berbatov “wasn’t feeling great” earlier today and is the reason why he misses out).

Oh, and Wayne Rooney (swear-jar in hand) takes his place alongside Javier Hernandez up front for the Reds.

I need to make a decision on transfers tonight. My current team is:
    Begovic
    Luiz Walker Djourou
    Nani Nasri Adam Lampard Young
    Hoilett RVP
    0.4 in the bank
    Subs: Foster RJohnson Coleman Tevez
    I want to do:
Coleman, Adam, Nasri and Tevez out
Huth, O’Hara, Dempsey and Sturridge in
    12 point hit
The hits effectively halved due to the DGW, meaning I need only a goal or cs for it to pay off which seems likely. I will probably get rid of dempsey next week for Silva. I will be able to bench Huth through hiss poor fixtures and I'm not worried about Sturridge or O'Hara as they have good fixtures until the end of the season and should bring in points.
Should I do it? How can I improve

youll be pretty screwed for the rest of teh season if u do that

taking adam out is a mistake if hes fit

I think O'Hara, Sturridge and Huth are decent choices for the rest of the season. Why do you think it would screw me so badly, all of the players I'm getting rid off (minus Adam) are deadwood? Should I just leave out Adam to Dempsey?

stoke dont have the best fixtures, i have 3 stoke defenders but only have them as they rotate well with brum, i wouldnt want to play them in any other games

just think your putting too much emphasis on a average doubleweek and youll end up taking hits in a week or twos time

Thoughts are that if you came on here last week proposing getting rid of a Utd player you'd have been given the same advice you just gave about Adam.

i expect carroll to outscore zamora over the next 2 gameweeks and its too late in the season to take a one week punt (apart from gwk38 of course)

Having no Vidic this season has hit you pretty hard? Really? I never even considered getting him in at any stage this season. But yeah, I also got away with having no United cover last night. Raging that I missed out on Harper's clean sheet though.

I see what you mean. Most of my rivals were going with United defenders who kept getting rotated/injured so I was never threatened by Vidic.

I can't understand why so many suggest Dempsey infront of many others with a DGW coming up. Now when Zamora is back in the team doesn't he have a less advanced role? Isn't Zamora also their first choice to take the penalties?

Myself chooses Jarvis as he is in good form with good fixtures coming up!

    Enlighten me please!
