The ScoutCast half century arrives – leaving us just 245 episodes behind the adventures of Foggy, Compo and Clegg. I’m not sure we’ll get there but Mark seems hell-bent.

Fifty episodes down the line and little has changed. Are we are more polished broadcasting duo? Doubtful. The back-biting and banter remains and appears more pointed than normal as we reach the season climax. Seventy points ahead when this podcast was recorded, my lead has since been dented by Rafael Van der Vaart’s brace and Samir Nasri’s similar revival from Fantasy slumber. Bullish from last night’s returns, Mark has been gleefully informing me that I’m “in trouble” all day. I’m not convinced.

Indeed, you can sense my confidence throughout this pre-North London derby recording, an episode that includes all the usual regular ingredients, spiced up by the definition of a new Fantasy term. I spent about 7 minutes and 31 seconds of the podcast explaining to Mark exactly what an “Undifferential” was; I still don’t think it sunk in. Have a listen yourselves – I’m pretty sure Mark is just on the blink.

After my rival doing me by near 50 points this game week, who would of though that Malouda would play both games, never mind captaining him is beyond me. Its paid off big time for them and has left me drowning my sorrows.

Im willing to take a risk or two over the next few weeks, was looking at bringing in Zamora and captaining him as a punt.

Any one have any better advise?

lots of players concentrating on the double gameweek though and bringing in zamora, dempsey etc and captaining one or the other of them.

Do you have Drogba by any chance?

maybe. spoke to a guy at work yesterday who said he was 2nd overall at one point last season but then slipped to finish about 500th. but he said he stopped it cos he agonised too much about it.
I dont care that much about it and believe it or not dont actually put that much effort into it.

The best part is soccer saturday at 3pm when all the goals come in.

how do you feel about it?

I know what the guy at your work must feel. I did really well last year, but this year I haven't got anywhere near that level: if it hadn't been for the second wildcard I might have given up. I'm glad I didn't though, and I'm looking forward to next season already - Taarabt, anyone?

I just think if you don't let it get in the way of uni/job then it's a really fun hobby. Watching the goals flood in on soccer saturday is such a great feeling, when your player scores.

However thinking about your fpl team 3-4 hrs a day is excessive, and is something i need to cut down on.

Also, it can make your loyalties skewed, if you support a team, and their rival, is a defender in your fpl team, you don't know whether to want the clean sheet or not. It gives me unncessary headaches.

yeah , i dont really support a team so that doesnt bother me.

But I see some people on here (mentioning no names) almost ALL the time - always in morning or most evenings. So some must spend hours and hours each day on it. Although, a big part of this site isnt about fantasy footy really, which is why I like it.

Good stuff give this a listen whilst been the house wife tomorrow!

Right lads I’m currently sat 11 points behind my rival with only begovic as a dgw player. Rival has 4 dgw players schwazer, Baird, huth and Sturridge. Do I sit tight and slowly draft TOT and MCY players in for their dgw to counter what he has now as I was speaking to him today and I know he hasn’t planned (doesn’t know about dgw 36) or do I transfer a dgw player for this week in now and take a hit or 2?

Team is linked if you have any suggestions.
    Much appreciation

he has a goalie and 2 defenders for the dgw, all of which are likely to concede in both matches.

Play the long game, this dgw is just for the noobs who are going to bring in as many dgw'ers as they can, probably taking hits to do it and then taking hits to get them back out again as none are worth keeping for the rest of the season apart from possible sturridge.

Concentrate on Chelsea players imo, if Ancelotti is to be believed and they are going for the title, then expect some points hauls from drogs, malouda, lampard against WH

I heard some rumours about Wolves going back to 451 which would mean that O'Hara would be in behind the striker in a very advanced role. Same role he got those two 10pt hauls in. I also think a Wolves midfielder is better to have for the run-in.

I may be getting rid of Nani, because he is done this season for me. Title in the bag. Champo's league will soon be everything to Man U. So Dempsey is easy to come by for me. Also just doing Clark -> Baird. Means I don't have to play Carr who will get 1-2 points max, and Baird has two shots at a cleanie and looking at their record at Craven Cottage, its quite good. So A clean sheet is possible. Maybe even another brace like his 20 points earlier in the season.

Then Nani, Who I think will start on the bench will get 1 point probably. But thats just me. Different scenario. I have Vela in my top 8 so an easy bench option.

    Team for this week:

    Begovic

    Baines, Luiz, Hangeland

Lampard (c), Nani, Van Der Vaart, Etherington

    Rooney, Van Persie, Sturridge

    (Foster, Adam, Walker, Simpson)

Decisions this week. I probably shouldn't have done the Hoilett > Sturridge transfer, but too late now.

    Dilemmas are:

    Baines VS Walker
    Nani VS Adam
    (c) choice

If we're playing the fixtures, that's what you'd do. But Baines is a beast. His record against top 4 is good too. Gets goals and assists. Although he's highly likely to concede... It's the riskier choice, and at this stage, within 100 points of the leader, I'm probably going to risk it.

Adam VS Nani is much tougher imo. Adam's not on good form, but is on pens, and his BP ability is just too good to ignore. But Blackpool's form is awful, and Newcastle defended really well last week. He could well get booked for 1 point.

Nani at home has been a banker all season, but whether or not he'll start and whether or not he'll be able to get something against an Everton team in great form is questionable. I think I'll go Nani just because he has more potential for double figures.

Baines-i think both will concede, but if everton get a goal, baines is more likely to be involved than vice versa.

Adam- Might be a chance of nani being rested on sat, or even getting taken off early, due to tuesday;s european away game.

(C)I'd go with rvp, as more often than not when arsenal score he's involved. I reckon they could put 3 or 4 past bolton this week.

True, i didn't think of that. There's no doubting arsenal may be feeling some fatigue after their recent exploits.

Just basing it on the fact that bolton collapsed at the back vs stoke, and that thrashing may have a negative psychological influence on them against Arsenal.

They won't be full of confidence, whereas arsenal need a win otherwise their title aspirations are pretty much dead in the water.

    Huth Foley Elmo Luiz
    O'Hara Lampard Dempsey
    RVP Drogba Carroll

Yes I'm jealous of his team going into the end of the season, not his rank. Just his team. :/ And his GW score.

    Hennessy
    Handeland / Cahill / Huth
    Dempsey(C) / VDV / Etherington / Nasri
Van Persie / Sturridge / Zamora

    Foster / Nani / Luiz / Coloccine

Welcome back to the VDV wagon. Had him since GW7 haven't got rid since (Madness), I think its a good plan to be honest. Nasri with RVP and Fabs in the team is average. O'Hara should get something and if I were to go for one of the cheap double midfielders it would be O'Hara. Nani won't start vs EVE IMO so no worry there. Do it. I would. Well I sort of am. Cept I dont have Nasri.

Nasri > Etherington (the one transfer I'm sure of)
Johnson > Hangeland (one week punt, a risk really...)
Hoilett > Sturridge (hoping for good form)

To be honest, I think I rushed my transfers this week. The defender transfer is the biggest risk, because I won't want Hangeland by GW36, will swap for Kolarov. If I could take that one back, I probably would.

Hoilett > Sturridge is okay I suppose, but I could have just stuck with Adam this week to prevent having to decide who to bench.
