The Dugout Discussion opens up bright and early on this Bank Holiday Sunday as we look forward to a bumper feast of footballing action.

Birmingham play host to Wolves and Liverpool welcome Newcastle to Anfield first as the mid-day kick-offs see all those skippering Dirk Kuyt and Luis Suarez (yours truly included) hoping for a good start. Then it’s Arsenal’s turn to host Manchester United as Alex Ferguson looks to either get one hand firmly on the Premier League trophy or open up a crunch game with Chelsea next week. Finally, Manchester City play host to bottom of the table West Ham as all those backing David Silva with their captaincy are made to wait.

Full line-ups sourced from the official website on our two early kick-offs follow…

Birmingham XI: Foster; Carr, Johnson, Jiranek, Ridgewell; Larsson, Ferguson, Bowyer, Gardner; Phillips, Jerome

Wolves XI: Hennessey; Mancienne, Stearman, Craddock, Elokobi; Foley, O’Hara, Henry, Jarvis; Fletcher, Ward.

Two changes for the home side see Barry Ferguson and Kevin Phillips bring their many years of experience back to the starting XI in place of Keith Fahey and Aleksander Hleb. A fit again George Elokobi comes straight back in to the side, while Kevin Foley also starts as Wolves also make two changes.

Liverpool XI: Reina; Flanagan, Carragher, Skrtel, Johnson; Lucas, Spearing, Maxi, Meireles; Kuyt, Suarez

Newcastle XI: Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Jose Enrique; Barton, Tiote, Nolan, Gutierrez; Ameobi, Lovenkrands

Andy Carroll has to make do with a place on the bench versus his old side, so hat-trick hero Maxi Rodriguez retains his place while Dirk Kuyt stays up front. Glen Johnson also returns from injury. Newcastle are unchanged.

Three games on the trot, televised, with little room for a break inbetween. Time to settle in, head into the Dugout Discussion if it takes your fancy, and look forward to six hours of consecutive Premier League action.

Guys just a quick question even though it early days:

    Foster Begovic
    Walker Kolorov Luiz (Hughes) (Kelly)
    Fabregas Adam Lampard Kuyt Silva
    RVP Odemwingie (Carroll)

I don't mind taking a hit to bring in Spurs and Man City coverage as I know my rival will. I'm planning:

    1) Fabregas to VDV

What other changes do people think would be wise for a 4 point hit?

    2) Kelly to Dawson? Or

    3) Adam to Modric/Yaya? Or

    4) Kelly and Carroll to Dawson and Sturridge (if fit) for an 8 point hit and sub Adam?

Any early advise appreciated? Worth bringing in VDV tonight before the price rise?

I wouldn't want to be taking a hit for a city defender 2 games or not.
Away to Everton and home to Spurs - I reckon they'll concede in both...

I wouldn't be taking a hit over a City defender, only a Spurs defender, I do think they can keep a clean sheet against Blackpool but I don't mind playing Luiz instead if i was to get another Spurs midfielder.

Appreciate the advice guys! Its a tough decision, I just feel like I will be a bit short if I only have one Spurs player in the double gameweek so thought Dawson could provide strong coverage.

Right now, I think its between Dawson or Modric getting rid of either Kelly or Adam.

Modric or Bale next week then. Bonus magnet versus flash in the pan scorer.
Modric looks on a bit of form at the moment compared to Bale so it may have to be him but I haven't seen much of him lately, does he ever look like scoring?

BAE being injured (and subsequently Corluka) suggests that Bale may play LB next week. Modric is a better choice.

Hart the best fpl selection for city double next week?? Thinking of VDV and Hart in with Adam and Foster out... just cant figure out whether Kolarov is worth the punt say instead of Coleman...

De Jong's goal would have been assisted by Kolarov had there not been an intervention. A few weeks ago when City won 5-0 against Sunderland Kolarov would have got an assist had Lescott not touched his cross very slightly. The guy is seriously, seriously overdue a proper return

I know what your saying but weve been saying that all season and hes still only ended up with 1 goals and couple assists... I dont know, it will be one or the other anyhow but I will probably get Hart. Could through a few quid on Kolarov to score though... cant lose then 😀

I can't believe my Halfwit of a rivals luck this week! He bought Kuyt in. Dirk bloody Kuyt who scored 26 points, he only bought him in because he couldn't afford Gerrard. As for me, Carroll came on for 1 shit point when i had Odem on my bench as 1st sub! I thought Carroll was ruled out, i only have Odem on my bench as it really, REALLY pisses him off when i get points off my bench! He's narrowed my lead down, this is sickening. I gain a lead and the next week the c unt claws me back. I give up.

Difficult to know who'll start for Spurs next week as none of the strikers are on form. My guess would be that Pav won't be the first choice starter and I'd probably suggest Crouch over Defoe. But expect a substitution if the goals aren't going in.

I can see him getting one clean sheet maybe, but you need more than that to justify the hit. Ive been distracted by what my rival was doing in recent weeks and it has cost me. I cocked up transfers, and took silly hits.

Stick to your guns, play your own game. Your ahead now for a reason.

      Dear FPL,

great job as always guys, loving the game this year and the new rules. But i think you forgot to add Foster’s assist for Birmingham’s goal. IT was the same as the Joe Jart one earlier in the season, and the defender didnt cause any sort of significant deflection. It should be Foster’s assist. Can you please review this?

      Thanks, much appreciated.

cant understand all the love for kolorov. he's consistently failed to live up yo the price and expectation.

Two good gameweeks in gw25 and gw26, apart from that he's been rubbish.

    MUCH better options elsewhere.

Advise against taking hits to get him in.

I got him this week for free. I'm not expecting goals/assists, but with the next couple fixtures, it's cheap opportunity for City coverage defensively.

Personally I would like to see x2 for captaincy disappear. It can skew the game too much. Id prefer to see 50% extra points. Id also do away with the bonus points unless assigned purely on the bassis of stats.

Also i like the idea of 1 point for an assist. Also like the idea of shaking up the defender points. I think 1 point for first 45 mins clean sheet and then extra 3 at FT.

Basically most of what id like to see is aimed at making it fairer and less likely that luck can skew things.

Which midfielder should I keep for the remaining 3 game weeks:

Adam or Nani? (my nearest rivals have both)

I'm considering getting rid of RVP. Good move or crazy? I want to get in both a Man UTD and Chelsea striker before the final two games, if Chelsea win then they'll be looking to outscore eachother in the last two games. Could lead to some big hauls for Drogba, Hernandez, Rooney, Lampard, Malouda etc... Who are others investing in (dependent on result next week)?

    Front 8 are:

Silva, Yaya, Lamps , Young (Nani)
    Bent, Odem, RVP

I'm thinking of the obvious Nani -> VDV this week... but then who to bench? Surely it has to be Lamps?!?!?

Benching Odem has been costly in the past. United to beat Chelsea 'to nil' next week - I may have to bench Lamps myself.

Is it worth getting rid of Nani for Modric?
I've had Nani for a long time so would lose value but Nani appears to be out of form at moment so was wondering whether to cash in?

At this point value doesn't matter. Losing Nani is a somewhat good idea, but not for Modric. Maybe go VdV.

Could be a good idea. I have 12 points to make up on the top of the league and I need a differential.
Not sure whether to try capitalising on the double GW or looking at another team with a strong run in like West Ham?
I have big decisions to make.
