The Dugout Discussion opens up bright and early on this Bank Holiday Sunday as we look forward to a bumper feast of footballing action.

Birmingham play host to Wolves and Liverpool welcome Newcastle to Anfield first as the mid-day kick-offs see all those skippering Dirk Kuyt and Luis Suarez (yours truly included) hoping for a good start. Then it’s Arsenal’s turn to host Manchester United as Alex Ferguson looks to either get one hand firmly on the Premier League trophy or open up a crunch game with Chelsea next week. Finally, Manchester City play host to bottom of the table West Ham as all those backing David Silva with their captaincy are made to wait.

Full line-ups sourced from the official website on our two early kick-offs follow…

Birmingham XI: Foster; Carr, Johnson, Jiranek, Ridgewell; Larsson, Ferguson, Bowyer, Gardner; Phillips, Jerome

Wolves XI: Hennessey; Mancienne, Stearman, Craddock, Elokobi; Foley, O’Hara, Henry, Jarvis; Fletcher, Ward.

Two changes for the home side see Barry Ferguson and Kevin Phillips bring their many years of experience back to the starting XI in place of Keith Fahey and Aleksander Hleb. A fit again George Elokobi comes straight back in to the side, while Kevin Foley also starts as Wolves also make two changes.

Liverpool XI: Reina; Flanagan, Carragher, Skrtel, Johnson; Lucas, Spearing, Maxi, Meireles; Kuyt, Suarez

Newcastle XI: Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Jose Enrique; Barton, Tiote, Nolan, Gutierrez; Ameobi, Lovenkrands

Andy Carroll has to make do with a place on the bench versus his old side, so hat-trick hero Maxi Rodriguez retains his place while Dirk Kuyt stays up front. Glen Johnson also returns from injury. Newcastle are unchanged.

Three games on the trot, televised, with little room for a break inbetween. Time to settle in, head into the Dugout Discussion if it takes your fancy, and look forward to six hours of consecutive Premier League action.

    Bit of a pickle...
    I'm thinking of just keeping Nani for the rest of the season because I can't see any better replacements?

    Should I stick or am I not seeing an obvious replacement?

    Me and my rival have been trading blows for weeks now at the top of our paying mini-league. Both of us have ended this gameweek with 1999 points. I've never known pressure like it! Thank the lord there's only a few gameweeks left.

    Have yaya and dont see the point in two city mids.

    Everton away and Spurs at home arent easy fixtures but didnt want to miss out if there was big scores so went cheap with Yaya...which backfired already 😛

          Yep, his fixtures are Blackburn(h), Wigan(a), Sunderland(h); all sides who are struggling to score goals. I can see him being a big differential against all those who stick with Hart and Foster.

            I was looking at him but I looked at his recent games and he's let in a hell of a lot of goals. That isn't going to be best for the confidence of the defence.

      Drogba. Not the best fixtures. Not enjoying his role on the wing (all his good play came from set pieces or after torres left the pitch)

      Not guaranteed starts.

      So at his price, he's dispensable despite his obvious quality.

    I don't want 2 chelsea defs
    I don't want to lose luiz
    He rotates well with szczesny, my 2nd keeper
    If he makes an error, he still doesn't get less points than other spurs defs.
    I need extra cash to bring in rooney later for blackpool.

      also thinking of rooney v blackpool but have this feeling ubited will beat chelsea and that game v blackpool will mean nothing. United then have a champs league final the next week then i think rooney gets rested and berbatov scores 7 in a 8-1 thrashing.

        True but rooney seems to be the least rotated player... and united might still need to win to be sure. If united drop rooney on the last day, blackpool's relegation rivals would get angry too, accusing united of unfairness.

        anyway I won't bring him in til the last week, so we'll know more by then. Nice to have the option. Hopefully chelsea beat united, making that game vital for united's goal diff!

      He's not starting and he's playing badly this season. Personally I won't touch a spurs attacker, but if I had to id choose pav right now.

    I should be cheering this on, but Spurs fans would be stupid to call for Redknapp to be sacked. I don't know if that's the consensus but that's what i've been reading on ESPN. It would be fair to say that without Redknapp, Spurs wouldn't be as good as they are now. The guy always seems to have a level-head and I was embarrassed when Wenger snubbed his handshake. Plus, I love how he has this look on his face when he wins like he just had a boulder taken off his chest.

          Djo-luiz-Vidic-coleman-??
          Demp-yaya-vdv-ferguson-??
          Drog-van P-suarez
          dont now if i should go more dg'ers or just go for something diff.

            My concern in that team would be...

            Coleman = Rotation Risk
            Dempsey = Had back injury.

            Only bring in DGW you would be happy to keep, you dont want to overload and be stuck with trying to get shot of them for next 2 weeks.

            Personally, I would go for a spurs defender.

            You could look upgrading Ferguson to Bale?
            And maybe a MCFC def for Coleman?

            MCFC have decent run in for defenders...

              * I know I said Demps & Coleman were issues, but there are other options if you want to keep.

              Just to clear up...

    Morning

    Dilema, this weeks trade for me will be VDV for Nasri

    My def is weak, and can upgrade Huth for Kolarov given DGW and nice city run in, as opposed to stoke with FA cup looming...

    Problem, is dont really want to take a hit as that will mean falling 10pts behind (opposed to 6 currently)

    Any thoughts....

    PS - Unsure if rival will take hit, only has 1 dgw player to date, same as me

      Stop being Welsh. If you think Kolarov will get at least 4 more points than the defender you would play in GWs 36-37 at least then it's a no brainer.

        Hmmmm, I dont know whether to thank you or not for that advice my 'upside down' friend.... :-D.

        Rotation risk with him tho, I could do without that mean as I am still sitting on Smalling & Coleman 🙁

          My rival has Kolarov. Not sure I will cover it. Could easily concede in both games.

            I think they will concede in both games TM, thats why I am 'twitchy' in bringing him in for 4pt hit but... last 2 games look decent?

            And I am Really struggling at the back 🙁

              Bolton to score at home & Stoke may want revenge for FA Cup. 😉

          I have exactly the same problem mate!
          I've already done Walters->Yaya
          Nani->VDV
          and i already have Silva
          But my defense right now is Baines, Luiz, Coleman
          i have Smalling and Evatt on the bench, so not much joy there!
          Is Kolorav worth another 4 point hit?!

    Was there a shift in bonus points allocation for the Man.City game?
    I checked the bonus points shortly after and Silva had 0, but i've checked my score again today and he was awarded 2?!
    not that i'm complaining!
