This morning reports are suggesting that Manchester City captain Carlos Tevez is closing in on a return to action.

Itโ€™s stated that Tevez is โ€œrunning at full pace and kicking a ball againโ€ and could be back in full-training at Carrington today or tomorrow. An appearance against Tottenham on Tuesday, in the second fixture of Cityโ€™s double Gameweek, may well be on the cards. This latest update comes just days after other sources suggested that Tevez was still struggling to be in contention for the FA Cup Final on May 14.

The skipperโ€™s comeback would be a timely one and it will unquestionably boost Cityโ€™s attempts to leap over this seasonโ€™s final few hurdles – these being the Wembley final and securing Champions League football with a fourth place finish.

Significantly, Roberto Mancini has stated that Tevez must play some part in Tuesday’s clash with Spurs if he is to factor in City’s FA Cup lineup.

“It is very difficult for him to play against Everton and if he doesn’t play against Tottenham, it will be impossible for Carlos to play in the final.”

That has undoubtedly motivated Tevez and should it be confirmed that he has returned to full training this week, then the striker would seem certain to play a part in Tuesday’s game. His level of involvement could ride on the result of Saturdayโ€™s clash with Everton – a win would cement fourth spot, but should City drop points at Goodison, City and Spurs will still have much to play for, which would set the scene for the re-introduction of Tevez.

In Fantasy terms, the striker has been an almost essential Fantasy asset – fetching an impressive 19 goals, 6 assists and 29 Bonus Points in the Fantasy Premier League game, which has given him a total score of 170. Despite his term of absence, Tevez is still owned by over 18% of managers in the game โ€“ they will certainly be hoping to see their man return to play some part for Cityโ€™s final three matches.

Those without Tevez wonโ€™t be feeling so positive about the possibility of a return. The potential offered by Mario Balotelli, David Silva and Adam Johnson now appears to be less secure with Tevez in the equation, casting doubt on double gameweek investment.

Elsewhere in the City squad, Nigel de Jong and Pablo Zabaleta are both expected to be fit to play at the weekend after suffering minor injuries; Micah Richards could return to the bench for the trip to Goodison Park.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

save your transfer and play suarez this week. That way you can see how utd chelsea pans out before committing. If utd win you won't be wanting drogba and rooney. And you'll be wishing you had suarez back for his home game against spurs.

Yes, if you've got a 6.4m defender you should be able to play him every game. I'd be happy to play all four of them ( that's the first time I've been able to say that since about GW27 )and leave out Adam, but that Spurs defence has conceded 10 goals in the last four games and it's death or glory time for the Pool. Newcastle not scoring recently but Fulham poor away, Villa on their hols already with Wigan needing a result.I think I'll sleep on it.

the guy i know, who used to own them, tells me that the club immediately loses 4.5m a year in revenue, just for dropping a league

he says phil brown has told him he will be staying on but they will have to drop the big wage earners... no surprise there

apparently the current owner, trevor hemmings, is ploughing 500k a month into the club with no return :-/

He carries himself in a similar way to Barry, so I often get confused between the two when one of them has the ball out on the left, he doesn't actually look like Barry though.

He's a dead-ringer for Harry Kewell and Nigel Clough though.

Me and my rival are both on 1999 points. I have two double gameweek players, he has none so far. Do I get another doubler in (Modric?) or do Carroll to Odemwingie? My rival has Odem so I'd just be matching him. I'm not sure to be playing conservative at this stage or to take risks..

            Apologies for my curt response.

I just get the feeling he won't be risked again this season. Very little value now in rushing him back only for him to get another knock and set him back.

What TV needs is a decent pre-season and a bit of luck. Putting him in 3 games before the end of the season doesn't make much sense to me.

so much funnier than i remembered. so many simple little lines which i'm finding hilarious this time round. when david brent is interviewing for a secretary instead of saying "have a seat" he says "pop it down". genius writing, they literally couldn't have written a better line to insinuate the appointment was entirely sexual for brent as opposed to professional

          hello mate, i don't think i can.

I am already in a league, and don't think i have the option to enter another league? Do you know if we're limited to 1 league per team.

This has probably already been asked, but is anyone aware of Sturridge's situation? If he's only likely to come off the bench and play a few minutes I'd rather try and get O'hara on. I think O'hara is going to do well this weekend, but don't want to remove Suarez or RVP. The rest of my midfield is non-negotiable. Does anyone think they'll be a clearer picture of Sturridge's fitness before the deadline?

Just a feeling, Wigan arent always terrible away from home, classic game Villa are expected to hammer someone but won't, I think they'll be goals in but Wigan have the greater need.
