Despite slipping to defeat in their last couple of Premier League outings – and with nothing but pride left to play for, Bolton boss Owen Coyle is still adamant that his side are looking to finish the season strongly.

A predictable claim of course but, with fixtures against the Premier Leagueโ€™s biggest two underachievers since the turn of the year (SUN blp MCY), and then a Reebok clash against Manchester City – who may rotate having already achieved their Champions League status – Boltonโ€™s prospects look decent and their Fantasy assets remain worthy targets.

While Fantasy Managers ponder the availability of the prolific Daniel Sturridge up front, at the back youโ€™ll find Gary Cahill who has been a stand-out performer for the Trotters in recent seasons and has maintained that form over a difficult season for Bolton defensively. Cahill climbed to second spot in our Watchlist rankings earlier this week and is very much on the radar for the final three gameweeks.

An inevitable transfer target in the Summer, Cahill’s potential this season has been severely hindered by Boltonโ€™s inability to keep their sheet clean; Owen Coyleโ€™s side have kept just 5 shutouts all season. The situation could be due for change however, with Bolton squaring up to a couple of encounters that offer them the opportunity to improve that defensive record.

Sunderland are perhaps the team that every Manager wants to face at the moment; they have failed to score in 6 of their last 8 games and the side is riddled with serious injury problems. With no recognised strikers with any experience available, you have to fancy any opponent to keep a clean sheet against the Black Cats – they travel to the Reebok next.

Bolton’s clean sheet prospects continues over into the follow-up fixture against Blackpool who, for all their attacking verve and effort, have managed to score just 3 times over their last 5 Premier League fixtures. Clearly Bolton are one side offering the promise of at least one more clean sheet then โ€“ a rarity at this stage in the season. While Jussi Jaaskelainen is due to be recalled against Sunderland and is a consideration in goal, in front of him, Cahill stands head and shoulders above his team-mates from a Fantasy perspective.

As well as being renowned for first-rate defending, Cahill also exudes plenty of attacking potential. This season he has found the back of the net on 3 occasions and offers great aerial threat from set-pieces and corners. As can be seen over in the Membersโ€™ Area, Cahill has managed 14 attempt on target this season – only bettered by set-piece specialists and forward thinking full-backs Leighton Baines and Aleksandar Kolarov.

Indeed, Cahill himself has recently stated just how confident he is feeling at set-pieces as he looks to add to his season goal tally…

โ€œAs of the last month or two, I think Iโ€™m playing my best football of the season. Iโ€™d just like to add one or two more goals. Every time I go up for a corner or free-kick at the moment, I feel like I am going to score.โ€

If Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Bonus Points are anything to go by, Cahill is the best defender in the league – accumulating the highest at 23 so far this term. In his last 4 outings he has been awarded 5 bonus points for his efforts and is clearly in some decent form going into the close season. Cahillโ€™s domination in the air and strength in the tackle within the Bolton back four will always catch the eye โ€“ if the Trotters do keep a clean sheet over the final three games, Cahill is almost guaranteed a Bonus return.

Thereโ€™s plenty of tabloid speculation surrounding his future at the club, but a possible move to Man City is inconsequential for Fantasy Managers right now. All that matters is that Cahill offers strong potential for returns at both ends of the field over the final games; potential that can be acquired for a fee of 5.5 in the FPL making Cahill a very worthy target for those looking beyond this weekendโ€™s double gameweek temptations.

Last DGW I did pretty well by resisting the urge to splurge on DGW'ers. I might do the same this week. Thinking about Silva though, and still weirdly tempted by Pavluychenko

    My team
    Foster (Begovic)
    Luiz, Baines, Ivanovich (Djourou, Foley)
    VDV(c), Yaya, Kuyt, Meireless (Barton)
    Carroll, Van Persie, Rooney

Looking to ditch Ivanovich & Meireless (4 point hit) for Cahill & Silva Or for Kolarov/Dawson & Silva

Good or not good? Any other recommendations on my team for this week

as silly as it sounds id go lescott for baines/ivanovic. As city dnt have spare cb's. and kolarov is prone to roatation.
suppose then you could do silva in for miereles

Maybe a 4 pts hit is in order.

Adam and Barton are your weak links and I think Carrol plus Kuyt is a bit too much liverpool coverage given better alternatives.

Coleman is your weak link in defence.

Have you money in the bank?

I'd ditch Barton\Adam plus Carrol/Coleman....does that give you enough for VDV plus another good alternative?

Mr Flynn is right. Link your team mate...any rival that is 90 pts behind you with three weeks to go isn't really a rival. If I was 90 pts ahead I'd be captaining Defoe and getting Phil Neville in just for kicks.

not kidding. Both are playing away. I don't fancy Man U to concede (worst case maybe one goal at most). Also lots of candidates for bps will be playing. Tottenham are more likely to concede. If so Adam is likely to be involved and stands more chance of some bps. Got a feeling adam will outscore the drog this weekend.

Terrible loser that John Fashanu, I once saw him pick up a pylon in a fit of rage and throw it 100m in the air and when it came down, impaled Robert Runcie. He then lit a match and held it so close to his face, Runcie could hear the flicker.

    Current team:
    Foster (Al-Habsi)
    Dawson, Kolarov, Luiz (Walker, Jones)
Silva (C), Nani, Lampard, Barton (Walters)
    Van Persie, Rooney, Odemwingie

I have not the slightest clue what to do. Sit tight and have 2 free for next week? Dropping Walters would give me 7.5 million to spend but Modric is about all I can see that might tempt me if I fancy the risk.

Need big help with my team, i’ve dropped a lot of points these past few weeks and i’ve ended up chasing. Person top of my league is almost 70 points ahead of me now and looks to be uncatchable. Second place is still achievable though (only 12 points behind).

    Foster, Begovic
Luiz, Walker, Huth, Coleman, R. Johnson
Adam, Nani, Silva, vDV, A. Young
    Bent, RvP, Carroll

I have 2 transfers and 0.6 in the bank. Please offer some advice!

I'd definitely use the two transfers to get either City or Tottenham players and utilize the double gameweek. Following players are worth considering. Modric, Yaya Toure, Lescott, Hart. Captain van der Vaart.

I am as well, initially had him down as captain after I made my moves. Then thought better I still may do something crazy...I'm 120 back from the leader and I'm in second, the rest of the pack are at least 40 points back. The leader is putting 10 behind the ball and not even participating (maybe one or two players at the most) in the DGW. I just feel lame captaining VDV or Silva. I seriously may captain Defoe or, call me crazy, Onuoha for Sunderland. Yes you will see I was burned by Sessegnon last week, but you'll also see I did captain Kuyt. And if Bruce is seriously going to put him up front and BENCH Sully Muntari, I may actually give him a go. I smell a Bolton fall...but I've still gotten Cahill...lol.

Hi, looking for help with my team
    Any suggestions are welcome

    My Team
    Hart (Robinson)
    Huth, Cahill, Luiz, Vidic (Hangeland)
Dempsey, Nani, Adam, Young A (Etherington)
    Van Persie, Odemwingie (Sturridge)

Have two free transfers and was think to take off
    Hangeland -> Zabaleta
    Etherington -> Yaya

Willing to take off Sturridge and Dempsey for an 8 point hit but unsure whether it would be necessary and who to bring on. Any Suggestions? Should I try some Tottenham players as well?
