Whoever doesn't pick VDV is potentially going to have a very large green arrow.

Well if he doesn't get the 20 or so points that people assume he'll get then whoever doesn't have him would have someone else and 'potentially' a better captain hence the green arrow.

That person won't be me though as I'll be doing the standard thing and swapping Nani for VDV!

    Van Der Sar

    Baines - Luiz - Lolarov

    VDV - Silva(c) - A. Johnson - Nani

Rooney - Van Persie - Sturridge

    Subs: Foster, Huth, Adam, Djourou

Considering putting Foster in goal instead of VDS, not sure. What do you guys reckon?

Haha...as a Chelsea fan I'd say play Foster...but don't listen to that advice. Which Johnson is that in midfield btw? Is Sturridge still a doubt? And finally...are you sure you want to gamble on your captains choice? Silva could get rotated surely...VDV less likely...and on penalties...

What do folks think about swapping Adam for Hitzlsperger - good move? And play him rather than Lamps this week?

Anyone else getting a bad feeling Sturridge wont play this weekend?

Don't have him, but I would be concerned about Sturridge.

Hitzl could be a great pick in your team, to be played all remaining games. But you'll want Adam for next week (and many are playing him this week). And many are playing Lamps this week too (I am and benching Adam). So I would say it's probably not worth the move. But I have bought Ba, so I am sold on the Hammers potential.

Yeh, Sturridge does concern me. As for Adam, i just feel at best he's worth playing 1 week out of the 3 left (ie net week), the rest its not likely he'll do much (although always possible of course).

Ba is a good call and well worth having i feel. Id rather have sturridge, but only if fit obviously! Why cant i have 4 fwds???!

The second was bizarre though. Every time Real broke in numbers, the referee halted play because of a supposed 'foul' on a Barcelona player. He only gave 3 fouls against Barca all night, and repeatedly denied clear free kicks for Real in advanced positions.

He probably didn't send Carvalho off because otherwise it would have all been too obvious.

The refereeing in the second game was odd. But his comments came after the first and I think it would be impossible (as in impossible for a human) as a ref not to let themselves get influenced subconciously by it. You reap what you sow.

Your asking the impossible from me here as he didn't talk in facts. What he did was publicly questioning the integrity of UEFA and Barcelona.

Making it worse is the fact that so many fell for it. It's classic Mourinho mind games, he's already forced referees into quitting the game and caused too much damage with his outbursts.

He's crossed the line so many times already, it's about time he had a hefty ban.

Every team Mourinho ever has been at has been absolutely deplorable under his reign, and his conduct is by far the worst of any high profile manager in Europe - all the time. His players take after him and act similarly, see Chelsea under Mourinho for example.

I'd forgotten about that! For all his plus points as a manager, he's got a very shady side which is trying to get an advantage on the field in any way he can. That's fine, but if you're going to throw your toys out of the pram when it goes against you then I've no sympathy. Fairness is a two-way street.

garga, everything hes said (I and other people) have been believing for ages... it is too obvious!!!!

on the other hand, there is a complete different standard for example for Mou, and now Real madrid than for barsa.

Madrid got players sent off vs Ajax I think it was or something like that, and Mou received like a 3 game ban. Then Barsa does it, not only in the league but in CL, and get off scott free!!

time and time again garga, trust me on this one bud

I agree with what he's saying about some of Adam's over-optimistic punts from the half-way line, but I do find some of these public comments on player's performances odd. Fair enough he spoke to him about it privately, but I can't see how this can boost Adam's confidence having it discussed in public.

    Hi guys,

I need a bit of advice about which players to bench/get in this week. I currently have a 22 point lead on my mini league and really want to keep it - any suggestions welcome. I have no free transfers this week.

here is my current line up.

    Hart (Robinson)
Hangeland, Johnson R, Walker (Luiz, Huth)
Silva, Dempsey, VDV (c), Nani (Adam)
    Bent, Odemwingie, RVP

I am genuinely flummoxed trying to work out what to do this GW.

Chasing about 25pts to the leader in my main League.

From what I can tell my options are:
    A: Huth/Baird->G.Cahill/Kolorov
    B: Nani->Silva
    C: Adam->Hitzlsperger

All have genuine reasons why not to do them, but can't really see other options. 2 DGW players already, 1 free transfer (not used) and 2.2m in bank.

    Any suggestions?

    Foster (Gordon)
    Luiz Huth Kolarov (Terry, Djourou)
    VDV(c) Young Yaya Lamps (Adam)

Ok you learned lot, would you do me the honour of providing your views?

I've got Cech in goal. At the moment I'm thinking play R Johnson and bench Luiz.

Neither great, and clean sheets seem unlikely. I'm thinking that at least I'm spreading the risk, rather than doubling up on Chelsea against United at OT? Or would you like Luiz for attacking returns over Johnson? But Luiz more likely to get yellow or red in a heated major game??

Anyone looking for a differential should check out Stephen Ward. Playing up front for Wolves, only 4.4. Wolves with decent fixtures and fighting for their lives.

Obviously he could be worthless but you'd look like a hero if the risk paid off!

Mick has backed him as well. I'd still rather Demba Ba though. But either of the Wolves forward could deliver some nice returns.

He is a defender in the fpl fantasy football game.

Is he really playing up top? Where is proof?

He has been for the past couple of games and Mick says he will continue there for the next game at least (check the tweets). He played up front earlier in the season when Wolves beat Liverpool too and scored in the 1-0 for a nice 12 points. I remember because he was my cheapie on the bench 🙁

I was going to get rid of Dempsey. But looking at Liverpool's away form I might actually hold onto him.

Playermanager - how much do you think VdV will go for? Have no idea if it is worth spending half my budget on a single player

thinking of Adam => Sandro on a free (make 1.6m on the deal)
Sandro in dGW and scored last game
Adam's form's dipped and Blackpool have to play Spurs & ManU away
Have I missed something? Any comments welcome

Don't do it. Spurs v Blackpool should be a wide open game. Adam's much more likely to be involved in any goals than Sandro

OK thanks, I'll have a re-think. I always make my own decisions and have never sought advice before on ff; but having been league leader (28-team league) for half the season I now have only a 24-point lead over the guy in 2nd place so this GW is as crucial as Man U v Chelsea on Sun.

You've missed 'Arry's reaction when Sandro scored - everyone else was celebrating, 'Arry was shouting at him to stop getting forward so much!

        haha,
the guy in 2nd has Adam too so didn't really want to transfer him for that reason

Sandro scored a goal completely out of the blue. Don't fancy similar returns from now till end of season.

true but have a free and don't want to waste it in dGW as rival will surely bring in double reinforcements (he has one free and only VdV playing twice. It's likely that he'll captain VdV. I have VdV & yaya but want one more dGW'er to make sure

Maybe bring in a DGW defender (Lescott, Kolarov, Dawson)?

            Oh, that's thrown me ...
I was going to take out Nani since teams in 2nd & 3rd place don't have him (they both swapped him for Kuyt) but I might regret that if Chelski beat Man U and Man U need goals
Currently Hangeland, Luiz, Huth, Ridgewell, Alcaraz (2.5m in bank)

Have decided to cash in Hangeland (don't fancy his chances of a clean sheet against Liverpool this GW or Arsenal last GW. Now, Lescott, Dawson or Kolarov?

OK, the deed is done Hangeland => Kolarov alongside Luis & Ridgewell
                VdV(c), Yaya, Nani, Lamps, Adam
                RVP, Chicharito

                Zamora, Huth & Alcaraz benched

Rivals ahead of me both have VDV (Ullah's Premiership league), one has Silva. Surely if all of us predictably captain VDV, can I reply on

    A. Adam, Larsson and O'Hara - Torres even - being adequate differentials?

    B. Playing Djourou regardless - if fit - as none of them have him?

    Freidel (Foster)
    Luiz, Distin, Djourou (Hughes), (Bardsley)
VDV (c), Silva, Larsson, O'Hara, Adam
    RVP, Torres (Zigic)
