Done and dusted. Despite a muscular second-half effort, Chelsea were simply outplayed at Old Trafford. The Premier League engraver can start practicing his lettering now.

United’s devastating opening, established by a typically slotted finish from “Little Pea” set the tone for a first-half showing that stamped on any plans Chelsea may have had to assume control. The second from Nemanja Vidic exploited the superiority; Frank Lampard’s second-half prod amounted to a nice little bonus for his Fantasy owners, but little else.

Congratulations must go to United on a commanding display but the neutrals amongst us will need to move on swiftly. Fantasy Managers must now consider the impact of today’s “settlement”.

United will go to Blackburn next weekend requiring just a point. Chelsea must go full tilt against Newcastle and hope for the best. Gameweek 37 is still on then – rotation shouldn’t be a major factor.

While next weekend looks stable enough, the final gameweek is now in flux. United will face Blackpool at Old Trafford, six days before they take on Barcelona in the Champions League final. Ian Holloway’s side will surely need a result from the match – United will likely just require a clean bill of health.

Owners of Wayne Rooney now have a major dilemma. Feasibly, Rooney could help spank Blackpool’s behind on their way to the Championship, but it seems unlikely. Given the circumstances, we seem set to witness the languid talents of Dimitar Berbatov against the Tangerines; possibly for the last time in a United shirt. Rooney will likely play some part but it could be just to soak up the applause and parade the trophy. Counting on Rooney to earn minutes and fetch returns looks a risk. With no goals or assists in his last four league games, the decision may already have been made.

We need to assess the United situation carefully – if Ferguson’s lineup against Blackpool can be anticipated, there’s every chance that there will be heavy profits on offer. Berbatov could even be a factor, Nani may come back into the equation. While United effectively ended the title race with today’s performance, they’ve thrown us Fantasy Managers a late curveball on our own quest for glory. It’s far from over around these parts.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      I'm here.

I rarely say bad things about Wolves on here, just found it funny when someone was getting a Wolves player in for a points hit the other day, which is understandable given your recent form.

You deserved the win overall, we had chances to get back in it and looked dangerous for a 15 minute period in the 2nd half but the damage had been done. I'm kind of glad in a way you gave us a tonking instead of scraping the win because now at least Hodgson knows a lot of work needs to go into rebuilding the defence for next season.

I'd be absolutely gutted if we were down there with you and we had lost 3-1 but at the end of the day were safe and your not so I don't see it as if you have got one over us tbh...

Yup good reply SD . I only wish you could have been so magnanimus earlier in the season when you weren't safe. Your subtle little anti-wolves digs have been wearing to read on this forum over the course of the season.
Well done WBA for staying up.
I pray that we can do the same.

I can't really remember many but oh well. Probably because Wolves fans were winding us Albion fans up loads when they were spending lots of money pre-season and we weren't, basically. So I probably did make a few digs when we were flying at the start of the season.

Yeah, glad we've stayed up obviously but next season will definitely be harder, as you have proved. Quite confident Hodgson is the man to establish as a Premier League club but we really need to get some experience into that defence. Steven Reid is just too important to the back four imo, he can organise and has a wealth of experience but he is a sicknote so can't rely on him all season.

What are you talking about!? He averages 4.7, which is on par with Baines, not other defender has a better point per game ratio (apart from Senderos but hes only played once.) Hes a goal threat and plays for a side who you'd back to keep clean sheets.

Nothing against Stoke - outplayed us today: just I can think of at least 6 or 7 managers/players who I think are slightly superior gentlemen than Pulis.. which subsequently just rules him out of being in my "one the the greatest gentleman in the English game", as Johnny said.
He's definitely in the top 463 though.

I think they've done amazing. As I said earlier, Pulis gets a lot of credit for putting out a full side today when other managers of 'lowly' clubs who have made the cup final, would have rested them and gone into the final with players who aren't match fit or have lost their form. Hope it works for them, I'm desperate for them to win that final, it would make a clear statement that money isn't everything.

Seems like another admin error from the FPL, they awarded the assist to Vidic which quite often comes with some bonus points. The assist will get removed, not so sure about the bps though.

every post match interview fergie boasts about Park,

in the one game, arsenal , where the result went badly,
fergie said that he told park to move to the center and that the message wasnt received, and that was the reason the goal went in

as far as i see it, fletch might not get into the CL team, Park is doing his job too well!

The nice thing about playing Roo and Chich , is that its never a rigid 4-4-2, against barca we will need a 5 man midfield, even so, we shud still play roo and chich, and have rooney sitting deep

Also, I think I'd prefer Fabio over Rafael. Rafael is a liability.

Technically your correct, but in Giggs will be playin in the final without question, so in order to accommodate that, it may come down to Fletcher or Park...

Lots of posts about Park not getting bonus today, I think those who got it had better games. Park is really really likeable but I don't think I've watched a game where I thought he was one of the best 3 players on the pitch since that Champions League semi final with PSV.

N'Zogbia is looking like a great bet for last 2 weeks BUT he has 53 the game before and 66 this week, is he injured or just carrying the same injury all the time?

Thinking of taking a few hits next week to get Silva (might be a doubt)/Luiz (might be benched) and possibly VDV (not great form, and not a great fixture), will wait and see what comes out during the week but with so many teams struggling for survival, there is a lot to play for

Theirs definetly worse options around, wouldn't mind a punt on him but I'm gonna find it hard removing RVP, Suarez or Odemwingie, especially with their fixtures next week.

Saying that I'm thinking of getting rid of Odem, surely he can't score again in the next game against an in form Everton.

Apparently we've averaged 2ppg since February. So frustrating that we're not challenging again this year.... its got to be something to do with pre season I guess, we usually leave it till last minute to see what Carrion is left over before buying players so hopefully we do all our business early this year. I've always really hated Man United. It was so annoying growing up in Bolton with gimps supporting Man U when they should be supporting in their local team.

The fact that so many people are so scared of failure and feel they must support a successful team so that they don't get mocked is a sad indictment of modern society.

I really wish people had the balls to support their local clubs, if they did football would be a far more even affair.

What really gets to me is when United fans say City/Chelsea have bought the league. FFS United have done that for the last 20 years, because of the amount of fans who support them for no good reason.

Most of the people on here just make me laugh really, I mean Boom! a grown man from India supporting a team which has never contained one Indian footballer. I mean what the hell!!?!

This is why I hate Man United.

          Amen.

Drogheda United are 20 minutes down the road from me, they're by far and away the worst team in the Irish premier division (2 points from 9 games ffs). We should've been relegated 2 years running and are only in the league because of other teams going bankrupt. I've had season tickets there the last 3 years, but not this year because I couldn't afford it. i also like to have an interest in the premier league and in Europe, so I support Man united as well. Is there really that much wrong with that?

Cheers for the explantion. I always wondered why Bolton fans sung about United even when they were 1 or 2 divisions lower.
Before the last 20 years United were still the biggest supported club in the country. Much of the support from around the country came about from the Busby Babes in the 50's and the air crash in '58.
United have spent big because they have created a global brand. It's the same with all the big clubs, they've created a football club and reached out, created a following and wealth. That's the difference between Chelsea/City.

I'd love to say I hope that United go bankrupt but I don't think it would help - all the plastics would move onto City/Liverpool anyway. The true fans wouldn't but the plastics would for sure.

I reckon if United went bankrupt today, 5 years from now Boom and Tommy K would be sat in their brand new city shirts cheering on Tevez.

Well some (and I'll not get into a slanging match over this) SOME Man Utd fans do bring a lot of animosity onto themselves by arrogance and gloating. A lot of United fans don't deserve the success that their team brings.
Some of the players are unlikeable too - Rooney and Nani in particular dont have many neutral fans.
It's unfortunate but there you go, add to that the teams constant success and the understandable jealousy that it engenders and you get people who literally would rather any other team win a game than Man Utd.
I don't mind United too much, I like them in a lot of ways and players like Giggs, Park and Valencia outweighs the bile when you see Nani's theatrics.
Some of the ABU stuff is plain daft though, I concede that.

Man U players have a bit of a history of it though. As they do with abusing and surrounding the referee. I still remember that image of Man U's shaved-headed contingent chasing a ref halfway across the Old Trafford pitch when he gave a penalty against them.

I think the ABU thing is fuelled by them and deep down they love it...tonight,lots of folk, myself included paid respect to their performance today, then out of the blue ,they start the ABU fued again(see above)for no apparent reason...so they must really love it.
on a side note, i think their celebrations on here tend to be more "in your face" than actually naturally happy for your team, another layer to the onion.

As Andy Roddick said about Federer when he beat him in the Wimbledon final.

Just seen the odds for next years Premier league.

Arsenal are best priced 13-2 to win the league next season. For those who don't understand betting, if u put £10 on...... u lose £10.
