A solitary game tonight for the Dugout Discussion as the last fixture of the [regular] gameweek keeps our cockles occupied this evening. “King” Kenny Dalglish has brought his Liverpool side on a jaunt down to London and seems to have left Andy Carroll in Toddington services – the gargantuan Geordie is nowhere to be seen. Liverpool Xi: Reina; Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Flanagan; Spearing, Lucas; Maxi, Meireles, Kuyt; Suarez.

The Dugout Discussion will be open through all the action as Liverpool look to assert their late charge into a place fit enough to earn them some European football – even if it’s not quite they would have hoped for.

    anyone see the bbc doc on the premier league last night with alan sugar?

    just watching it now on sky+.

    Stat: At the opening day of the Premier League era in 1992, only 11 foreigners in the game. Now its over 300.

          spot on mate. in my naivity as a first time FPL player i put rooney in without checking fixtures.... drogba got a ridiculous amount of points in the first 8 or so weeks as did chamakh. then berbatov / tevez were the way to go. i was a step behind with both but managed to get RVP / Rooney in Jan at the perfect time.

    I have to say i didnt envisage dalglish having such an effect on Liverpool. Couldnt see a man who had effectively been out of management over a decade turning them around. Thought it was the usual delusionism from pool fans. Big respect for him now, a result here and there and he could of had them in CL next season. And im a utd fan!

    JamsieP is spot on though.

    Only a few weeks ago West Ham and West Brom were spanking Liverpool.

    As good as their run is we'll see if they pick up where they left off at the start of next season before anointing them as champions elect.

    Just had a look at where Liverpool have dropped a lost a lot of their games and it's mainly been away against the lower teams.

    WB(A) 1-2 WH(A) 1-3 BL(A) 1-2 BR(A) 1-3 WW(H) 0-1 NU(A) 1-3 SC(A) 0-2 BL(H) 1-2

    If they can sort out those results and the newish team continues to gel together well with a couple of good transfers then I think Liverpool could become title rivals next year.

      Liverpool will likely 'improve' - meaning challenge for exactly the place(s) they are now, IMO.

      United, Chels, City's money, and Arse's CL spot make them top contenders for the title and for new acquisitions.

      Not trying to pee in your cornflakes, just the way I see it atm.

      Anyone getting carried away is stupid and we have had some dodgy results but it's still a work in progress. The most impressive thing is how we have become a team unit, a team better than the some of the parts. The work rate and pressing was incredible tonight.

        we're going in the right direction and a good pre-season should build on this
