With the previous nine fixtures in gameweek 36 failing to return a single clean sheet, there were concerns that Fulham and Liverpool would play out a 0-0 stalemate. Liverpool had other plans however – they continued a barnstorming run of form under Kenny Dalglish, smashing five past the home side to chalk up 17 goals in the last 5 games. Fulham grabbed a brace to make it a poor week for defenders, with only tonight’s Man City vs Spurs clash left for any chance of a shutout. Here’s the notes from last night’s game…

Luis Suárez
The Uruguayan continues to dazzle since his January move, with another outstanding display for Liverpool in the Craven Cottage rout. With 65 points in his 11 appearances, he’s just shy of 6pts per game, a phenomenal return for his debut half-season. Suárez’s game is looked kindly upon by the Bonus judges, picking up 14 already. As far as Fantasy Managers are concerned, the only aspect missing in his game is penalty-kick duties.

As Kenny Dalglish acknowledged after the match:

“Suárez was fantastic. He was running as hard at the end as at the beginning. Even in our wildest dreams we couldn’t have thought he’d settle as well as he has done. He has graced the pitch every time he has stepped on it“.

Opposite number Mark Hughes also joined the Suárez fanclub in his summing up…

“I don’t think our guys have been up against him too much at international level, so it was a new experience for them and they’ll learn from it…He was always mobile, always in little pockets of space. Maybe we allowed him too much time and never really dictated to him. It was always the other way round and when good players have time and space, they can hurt you, which he certainly did. He was outstanding tonight.”

We were tracking Suárez in third place in our Watchlist rankings behind Peter Odemwingie and Robin Van Persie going into the weekend – all three came good to continue their outstanding run of form.

Maxi and Kuyt
As Suárez led the Fulham back-line a merry dance, the Liverpool pair continued their incredible recent scoring streaks. With Andy Carroll sitting on the sidelines, Maxi hit a hat-trick for his second 20+ FPL point return in three weeks, while Kuyt scored for the fifth game in a row, and has returned 84 FPL points in the last eight gameweeks.

Dalglish also gave positive news on his other big-name January signing, suggesting Andy Carroll only has bruising, offering hope the big striker may come back for the remaining two games (TOT,avl). Carroll’s return would see Kuyt move back into midfield, with Maxi favourite to return to the bench, a sign of an improving strength in depth at Anfield. In normal circumstances, Dalglish would surely be reluctant to tinker with his lineup and re-introduce Carroll. The opportunity to see the big number nine and Suarez working in tandem up front once more is likely to tempt him to shuffle however.

Fulham Already on Holiday?
Mark Hughes’ side have one of the best home records in the top-flight this season and came into this game with 6 wins, a draw and 6 clean sheets in the last seven at Craven Cottage. Mid-table safety with just a couple of games to go, however, can sometimes lead to lethargy and Fulham were deservedly three-nil down at the break after a poor display. The hosts only started playing in the second 45, when Bobby Zamora replaced Simon Davies, and at least matched Liverpool for goals after the break. To make matters worse, 5 bookings dented their hopes of Europa League qualification through the Fair Play League.

Mark Hughes will want a response after this thrashing but Fulham face two difficult last fixtures (bir, ARS) before the season closes. Fantasy Managers holding on to Fulham’s assets – notably Clint Dempsey, will likely be considering their options going into Saturday’s deadline.

For gw38 im getting Berbatov in for sure but is there anyone else that might be worth a punt to score heavily? I cant see any obvious transfer for me this week so could use it to get in a player to block my 2nd placed rival as he is only 10 points behind.

I'm not even loving the Berbatov idea. I know they're playing Blackpool but Berbatov is a confidence player and the last couple of times i've seen him his confidence looks to be at an all time low

          I don't think that's a big worry.

United about to win the premier league, Berbatov leading the way on the top scorers chart. When/If he starts against blackburn and blackpool, his confidence should be at an all time high, and he knows he's fighting for a contract extension, so it should see him get some decent returns.

Blackpool needing to pull something out the bag to avoid the inevitable relegation, they won't change their tactics. Last game of the season, both teams will be putting on a show = the recipe for some berbatov goals.

Well his confidence won't be at an all time high, he won't be low on it but not drunk on it imo. Also, one game against probably the worst team in the league isn't going to affect whether he gets an extension or not.

Well in the last fixture, he scored twice against Blackpool without Rooney being on the pitch. Just gives a measure of how poor they are defensively. Add to the fact that was away, and he's got most of his goals at home this season.

this is why it's better to sell imo. before spearing emerged and they bought meireles i think they could have done with aquilani. now he'd just create torres-esque selection dilemmas.

That's dead on I reckon. He's worth a decent amount to sell and Spearing's been excellent as well as homegrown. With the talk of us buying Moussa Sissoko, I think Meireles' position might be under threat, he's very hot and cold.

I don't know, I think they're viewing him as a long term Gerrard replacement. I really like him, drives the play forward. It just seems that Spearing is very highly rated by Kenny and that Meireles always gets subbed. He may not even sign if he's dead set on the Champo League.

Not entirely sure what you're asking here, but it's definitely an impressive achievement. People hate on the Europa League, but there have been some good knockout ties so far (Benfica-PSV, Porto-Villareal etc).

Great manager. The anti- Mourinho. Loves to play attacking football, is young and ambitious. Liverpool, Juventus and Inter Milan have all talked about him. I think Chelsea and City may have shown an interest as well, especially seeing as Citeh were rebuffed by Mourinho. Direct, skilful play with a hint of physicality. None of Mourinho's nonsense either despite being his protege in a sense.

I know he´s talked to go to chelsea but seriously he´s not another Mourinho and I doubt he exits in the end of the season! (sorry for the delay other matters in hands)

Guys, I'm currently winning my h2h league by 2 points for cash prize. I need to win this week to pretty much guarantee the big money.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Current team:
    Begovic (Stockdale)
    Walker, Djourou, Luiz (Coleman, Simpson)
    Lampard, Young, Silva, VDV, (Nani)
    Sturridge, Odem, RVP

    Opponents team:
    Foster
    Foley, Walker, Luiz (Dawson,Huth)
    Nani, Fabs, Adam, Kuyt, (Bowyer)
    Campbell,RVP,Carroll

Was thinking N'Zog for Silva or Young?
Should I get some Kuyt coverage?
    I have 2 freebies.

Your defence is pretty bad for this week... Walker is at Arsenal, Djourou could miss out now Vermaelen is back and Luiz could also be dropped.

I'd play Nani over VDV, and would transfer Young out for N'Zogbia.

Nani is an expensive player to keep in the bench. I have a similar dilemma. If you have 2 freebies then maybe Nani>N'zog and Sturridge>Suarez (benching A Young this week)

I think he will, but he is not the same scorer away from home. Also another thing to keep in mind is whether he will play at all against in wk 38 if ManU get a point this week. Would fergie field a B team with the title wrapped up??

Ok lads I would really appreciate advice. I must do it today due to financial reasons.

My third defender is nightmare: Luiz (won't play), Simpson (che) and Walker (ars). I could have minus points easy or 1 point.,
On the other hand I want Suarez for a long time. I have exactly cash for:

Luiz - THe Mummy (at home, OOP)
    Zigic - Suarez

    Are this transfers sound?
    Cheers,

Don't like the idea of getting rid of Luiz for a 4pt hit, especially for a player from a team who haven't kept a clean sheet in their last 7 games. He might start too.

Zigic- Suarez is good though, just find some other way to fund it.

I am way ahead in my money leagues, in the hunt for 2nd in my "prestige" league, am wondering whether I should just enjoy the last two weeks and take hits where I feel like I can make points, are play it safer and come out with a better overall ranking, and with that in mind, I presume most people on here do want a good overall ranking?

It always amuses me the folk that are doing well in their first season or maybe it's their second and issues arise as to the worth of your advice based on your ranking, I appreciate it is good indicator of your skill, and if it's consistant even more important.

protecting a slim ~20 pt lead.

    mine:
    Lamps, Nani, A.Young, Adam, VDV
    Sturridge, Odem, RVP

    him:
    Bale, Nani, Kuyt, Yaya, VDV,
    Suarez, Odem, RVP

Is it best to try to decrease the differential?
    I was thinking Nani>N'Zog, Sturridge>Suarez for 4 pt hit.
I am thinking he will also most likely (c) RVP

Don't like the hit when you have a lead, Like the Nani move though and your rival could do the same. Sturridge has a decent chance of doing something this week. good luck. Your Captain choice is the critical move- in covering him.

I think he will be getting rid of Bale, and he has been taking hits the past few weeks, so he may do it again. Can't imagine he would capt'n anyone besides RVP, plus he's an Arse fan. Saving the hit may be a good idea...was also thinking Baines for either Luiz or Coleman now that he may be on pens. Thanks.

Ronaldo to score 2 or more goals at home to Getafe @ 9/4.

All Real have left to play for is ensuring that Ronaldo wins the Golden Boot ahead of Messi, something they take pretty seriously, and they're in excellent form, recently - when playing a full strength side - hammering sides.

Its a lottery next season. Any one of those 5 teams in my opinion. Can win it. Yes, even Liverpool. The form they are in now. If they can carry that on next season. They'll be a force to be reckoned with. With Carroll as well. He is another option for them. Hopefully he is used off the bench. Thats what I would want if I were a Liverpool fan.

I personally see this as the start of his Liverpool career. (Maxi), he was class @ the World Cup (Only time I have ever seen him apart from the prem), he's taken time to adapt. And now is showing his class. Either way. With these attacking players. I think Liverpool will be good next season.

Gerrard. Carroll. Suarez. Merieles. Kuyt. Maxi.

All 6 of them can be brilliant. As good as any other team up there.

ok player, never was that impressive at atletico but did havez a good world cup (5 years ago) and thats what every1 remembers.

Where United have "struggled" through this season without any major signings, and while I am obviously biased, I really think it's United's title again next year with Chelsea second again and Man City third, I think Arsenal will find it hard to replace Cesc if he leaves, I know he has been out for much of the season, and RVP certainly brings back a level of quality and leadership, but I still think they are a team lacking in leaders, if they buy a few old heads, maybe they will have more of a chance

Chelsea top is ridiculous. They've lost to United 3 times in a row. They won't be able to improve much over the summer (where can they improve and who with)?

United are WEAK in midfield and if Rodwell, Bale, Schweinstieger or Sneijder do join they will be massively improved.

New manager, new players, new ideas....

        Cech
van der Weil Alex Terry Cole
        Mikel Ramires
        Hulk Kaka Malouda
        Torres

        Manager: Andre Villas Boas

That team would dominate the league.

Of course, Ancelotti could stay, Roman won't want to spend yet more money, and we'll be stuck with this collection of muppets:

          Cech
          Ivanovic Luiz Terry Cole
          Essien Mikel Lampard
          Kalou Torres Malouda

We'd probably struggle to finish in the top four with that team.

    So, my 5 defenders are:
    Kelly (injured)
Luiz (may be dropped with Alex back)
    Kolarov (rotation threat)
Djourou (injury risk and rotation threat if vermaelen back)
Walker (poor team form, poor fixtures)

What do you reckon are my chances of getting three starters out of that lot for the remaining two weeks? Seems a shame to waste transfers/hits on defenders at this stage?

I have Baines/Louise/Huth/Walker/Hangeland which looks ok but didn't rack up many points this GW. But who could I bring in that would be sure to do better? (That's rhetorical) It's a mug's game chasing clean sheets, just pick in-form mids and forwards imho.
