The penultimate Gameweek of the season sees four Fantasy Managers go head to head in the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV Semi-Finals. A win here not only earns them a place in the Grand Final next week, but guarantees them one of the two big prizes.

With a recap of how the Quarter-Finals played out, here is how the Semis line-up…

Semi-Final #1 – Ninja_Fit_Saints Vs. redsareback

Ranked 1,576th in the world, Ninja_Fit_Saints is the second highest ranked competitor left. Last time out he beat elana_s 49 – 37, with Ben Foster’s nine saves, Chris Samba’s Bonus Points and David Silva’s double Gameweek being the key differences. That winning margin could have been wider had Ninja Fit Saints played his top-scorer Charles N’Zogbia.

His opponent, redsareback, must’ve been extremely confident of victory last Saturday lunchtime when the Fantasy Premier League squads updated, revealing a 36 point lead over Joel Farthing before a ball had been kicked. But watching that enormous lead erode away must’ve been equally unsettling. With goals from Nemanja Vidic, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Javier Hernandez, Luis Suarez and Peter Odemwingie, the tie finished surprisingly close. A David Silva goal on Tuesday night would have been enough to complete the shock victory, but as it was it ended 39 – 30.

Semi-Final #2 – Biscanators Vs. Mr Hat

Making his way into the Semi-Final, Biscanators beat competition favourite daniel.mf 65 – 60, in easily the rounds highest-scoring tie. Matching each other almost blow-for-blow, it was again those Foster saves and that Vidic goal that proved the difference.

With daniel.mf out-of-the-picture, it falls to Mr Hat to be the highest-ranked Fantasy Manager in the Semis, despite a red arrow this week. Falling to a still very impressive position of 819th in the world, he overcame hamyai_hamyai 49 – 48 by the narrowest of margins.

I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing our Semi-Finalists the best of luck for this coming Gameweek. I’ll bring you the results, along with a preview of the Grand Final, next week.

    Hi all!

I need some information that I haven´t cracked yet.
How does the players form rate work?
Average for past 5 weeks or so?
Choosing form captain emergency will pick the player with best average in the past 5 weeks, current GW included?

(sorry if I didn´t make myself clear, bit of hangover, please correct me if you feel the need)

    Thank you!

So is the last month that counts?
        But current GW included right?
(or else it would be too easy to choose vice captain)

          Ermmmm....

The next matches are on the 14th of May, so the form showing at the moment will be the average score across all matches since the 14th of April.

He is doing very well, but mainly as he is shining in a really poor Feyenoord team. He is absolutely miles away from being good enough to play in the premiership. For instance he is a lot more lightweight even than Rosicky.

He will need to play 75% of games for Japan or somehow pick up a Dutch passport in the next 2 years (not going to happen)

I agree, I think because of what tommy burns done for him and his family he wont be happy turning his back on celtic. Its a shame that the tv money dictates so much these days in the early 2000's when sky was paying us a fortune we could compete

hopefully he will. i have a feeling that the bubble is goin to burst in the premiership in the next few years. things can't go on the way they have been. Players gettin paid funny money and teams living in debt.

Its going to be a sad day for football, but I agree, some point in the future the money will dry up and the bank will want their loans repayed and then I reckon Arsenal will dominate ennglish football... maybe a bit too far there. but I think that will happen.

Hello people. As many here iam in lead 6 points from my rival and its really important to stay where iam cause steaks are big! So really could use an advice.

    My team:
    Foster(Harper)
    Luiz-Djourou-Kolarov(Smalling-Kelly)

    VDV-A.Young-Lampard-Silva-Adam

    RVP-Odemwingie(Caroll)

    My rival:
    Cech(Stockdale)
    Zabaleta-Huth-Vidic-Clichy-Assou Ekotto

    Dempsey-Kuyt-Yaya Toure-Walcott-VDV

    Pavlyuchenko-Bent-DJ Campbell

Soooo... Was thinking A.Young>N'Zogbia and/or Caroll>Suarez for -4? Captain Lamps or RVP(whats safer option)?

Yay or nay for both transfers? Or just 1st? Or any other better idea? Again, i have 6 pts lead.

I would not take a hit if you're only 6 points ahead. Maybe just do Young to Kuyt to cover him. His forward line looks fairly shocking so you should be fine.

Little Johnny goes to his health education class.
The teacher shows a line drawing of a man and woman nude
and points to the female breasts. She asks if anyone knows
what these are? After much giggling about Little Suzie
raises her hand and the teacher calls on her. Suzie says
"Those are breasts and my mommy has 2 of them." "Thats
good Suzie" says the teacher. Next the teacher points to
the mans penis and asks what this is. Little Johnny waves
his hands wildly and being the only one responding the
teacher calls on him. "Thats a penis and my daddy has 2 of them"
says Little Johnnie. The children laugh and the teacher tells
Little Johnnie he must be mistaken. Little Johnnie says
"No Your wrong." "He has a little one he goes wee with and a

VDV won't be benched...no reason to. Lescott is still one of only two passable central defenders at Man City. Rooney will play....champ league final isn't for a while.
also ...Schillachi/Kosielny are more likely to make way for Verm. Why drop Djourou?

If I was you I'd want some Liverpool love. Is Modric for Kuyt doable? Failing that how about a nice reliable Luiz (who will be dropped) move to Baines.

modric to zogbia sounds like a good one. I'm not sure about dumping Roon before Blackburn.

Basically whoever you get in should be a sound proposition over two weeks...as the final week will see some serious rotation.

Hello people. As many here iam in lead 6 points from my rival and its really important to stay where iam cause steaks are big! So really could use an advice.

    My team:
    Foster(Harper)
    Luiz-Djourou-Kolarov(Smalling-Kelly)

    VDV-A.Young-Lampard-Silva-Adam

    RVP-Odemwingie(Caroll)

    My rival:
    Cech(Stockdale)
    Zabaleta-Huth-Vidic-Clichy-Assou Ekotto

    Dempsey-Kuyt-Yaya Toure-Walcott-VDV

    Pavlyuchenko-Bent-DJ Campbell

    Soooo… Was thinking A.Young>N’Zogbia and/or Caroll>Suarez for -4? Captain Lamps or RVP(whats safer option)?

Yay or nay for both transfers? Or just 1st? Or any other better idea? Again, i have 6 pts lead.>

Taking into account the fact that Utd hadn't won the league for 25 odd years, and Liverpool were caning it, Man U were still challenging them for biggest club. I guessed fanbase is what this was based on, but they also did pretty well for glamour big-name players for a club that only won the FA Cup.

Basically, I reckon Liverpool were the biggest and Man U second. I'd have put them above Everton and Arsenal, despite their comparative success (Arsenal's only coming very late 80s).

No not at all. Liverpool were. Arsenal were big too and Leeds were doing alright. Mid 80's Everton were the best side.

Well I wouldn't quite go that far. As MnL said above United were still a powerful club. The thing they were most 'lucky' in was Mark Robins scoring in the FA Cup to save Ferguson's career.
Ferguson has been the key reason why they have achieved what they have.

they were also lucky that alot of their home grown talent...and by that I mean proper talent that ended up dominating their side even to this day emerged at that time.

How many teams could boast a crop of Giggs, scholes, beckham, neville brothers...even nicky butt was a regular for a while.

According to the Jamie Carragher theory if Graham Souness hadn't become Liverpool manager their dominance may have continued. ...maybe, good players help though.

It's how those young players are used and brought on that counts. Ferguson has no rivals in his ability to nurture young players and change them into superstars. Look at Michael Owen, overused and overdepended on as a youngster the prime of his career has been ruined by injuries.

They were fortunate that it coincided, but they would have won the league anyway. Changing the name from Divison 1 to Premier League made no difference, and the Sky money didn't have an effect for a good few years.

I still don't think so, because for the first few years of the Premier League it was nothing like now. English clubs were nowhere near CL finals, it happened later on when the TV money started getting bigger.

Utd capitalised on it like no other club. Even things like making sure they had the biggest stadium when rule changes came in for clubs to keep all of the attendance money instead of splitting with the away team.

The lack of success in the CL was partly due to the ban following Heysel, and partly (at least for Utd) because of the 3 foreigner rule, with Welsh, Scots and Northern Irish counted as foreign. We dropped Schmeichel for some of our early CL games!

It's starts off as England being the spiritual home of football, and in the fifties had a great national side, then followed the Busby Babes, then the Munich disaster. Loads of media coverage.
Bobby Charlton and George Best were 2 of the most famous footballers in the world and they started to market themselves from this point. Going on tours etc.
The clear indication of how well supported they were was evident when they went down to the 2nd division and broke all the crowd records which still exist to this day.
Even though they weren't as successful as Liverpool they were breaking transfer records in the 80's and early 90's.
TV broadcasting and then the premier league have just accelerated their popularity.

It was barely televised in the UK. Think it was the mid80s when the first league game was broadcast (bit before my time that).

You really can't look at the game today and compare it with pre-Sky. Utd didn't have the big cash injection of City and Chelsea, but with the headstart they had on everyone else it's the only way there could be competition. It's a bit of a monster, but you could easily argue that it's Utd's ruthlessness that led to it.

I think in England is was pretty close between Liverpool and Utd, but Utd probably had more global fans. I'm not basing this on any figures btw, just how it seemed at the time.

Your point about Utd being lucky that our peroid of dominance coincided with the PL and Sky money is pretty much spot on.

Yes, and lucky to get amazing youth talent at the right time, as Jonty says. But also whoever you support, no one can deny that Utd made the most of their luck. You aren't lucky for 20 years.

Not arguing that it's 'luck' so to speak, just that United's dominance came at a time where the benefit (in terms of revenue and creating a global appeal) of being the top side in England was the greatest, because of the advent of the Premier League.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The Premier League were certainly more interested in overseas markets than the Football League.

Should I buy Maxi or N'Zog for Silva? And should I take a hit to do Luiz->Baines as well?(My other DFs are Djourou,Coleman,Simpson and Jiranek.)Will Luiz definitely be benched?Because if he starts, maybe I can leave him in and do Silva->Maxi/Kuyt,VdV->N'Zog for -4.Thoughts?

One less diving cheating twonk. Now if we can just get rid of Alves, Pedro, Nani and Rooney we might be able to enjoy the game.

Can't for the life of me understand why they took so long. All they needed to do was look at the footage and it's immediately obvious!

I just wish that if had to be banned, it should have been for the second leg. It's not like more evidence is pouring in. Massive loss if he get's banned..

And how can he say things like that when, on his own team, he has Eric Abidal, Seydou Keita, Dani Alves? Prick.

Silva->Maxi/N'Zog(??),Luiz->Baines for -4?Yay or nay?Or just do the first one, avoid the hit and hope Luiz starts?Other option is to do Silva->Maxi/Kuyt,VdV->N'Zog.

        Team for this gw.
        Hart (Foster)
        Luiz Kolarov Djourou (Kaboul Huth)
        Adam OHara Lampard Silva (VdV)
        Odem Suarez RvP(c)

Thinking of either doing A or B. What do ye think?
        A) Kolarov/Luiz to Baines/G.Cahill and Silva to Nzogbia - 4 pts.
        B) Save transfer
With the news Gallas may miss rest of season perhaps Kaboul will make first team again for final game of season? Not sure anout Huth though! Defence looks like the only weak spot I dont really need to change my midfield though, but id like the Zog!
