The last midweek Dugout Discussion of the season sees a repeat of the enthralling FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Stoke City. There’s no silverware at stake tonight, but for Man City there is the genuine incentive of leap-frogging Arsenal into third, with automatic Champions League qualification the reward for sitting there come Sunday evening.

Although not a televised game, the Dugout Discussion is open for business and serves to house your reactions as the news comes in. The first news in are those all-important line-ups…

Man City XI: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Zabaleta, Milner, De Jong, Silva, Yaya Toure, Adam Johnson, Tevez.

Stoke XI: Sorensen, Wilkinson, Collins, Shawcross, Wilson, Pugh, Diao, Whelan, Whitehead, Walters, Carew.

Roberto Mancini names David Silva and Carlos Tevez amongst his first eleven, with the former playing despite being tagged a major injury doubt. Aleksander Kolarov misses out again, to the annoyance of those still unfortunate to own him.

Stoke also make a host of changes, with popular fantasy players Asmir Begovic, Robert Huth and Matthew Etherington all sidelined for one reason or another. Elsewhere, John Carew earns a rare start at the expence of Kenwyn Jones.

Akers Richard or Akers, as he is known, has been regularly haunting this site since July 2008. He is young and foolish, take what he says with a pinch of salt. Follow them on Twitter

Yes, I thought that too at first.

But then I realized that Birmingham have to win to realistically stay up. A draw is pretty much useless to them now.

I don't think they'll win, but surely you have to think they ll give it their best shot and attack Spurs from the off.

They absolutely need to score on Sunday and considering that they'll know in ge

Pressed wrong button on my phone there. Grr.

Brum will be getting updates during the game as to how the other teams around them are doing too.

Never underestimate the ability of a team that suddenly realizes there is no tomorrow if they lose today to suddenly start scoring goals.

    Hello guys,

Would like the last advice of the season! :'(

    Foster / Robinson
    Walker / Luiz / Baines / Huth / Flanagan
    Lampard / VDV / Maxi / Adam / Yaya
    Suarez / RVP / Odemwingie

I have a 10 point lead to secure champions league football for next season (4th spot). I need to hold onto it.

    I am thinking

    VDV > N'Zogbia
    Suarez > Berba

Is it dangerous taking suarez out? How nailed on is berba?

I wouldn't do Zog for VDV. Brum are so weak, esp away from home. Ive got VDV and Suarez and am thinking Berb in for Suare (although have Zog too!) , but am behind and hoping to catch.....

    Morning fellas

Yesterday made my mini-legue win much more difficult than needed!

I'm thinking couple of options to protect 10 point lead.
Rival has modric, so I'm propably willing to get him in even for a point hit.

What do you think about these pairings, which is best?

    a) Lamp + Nani
    b) Silva/Yaya + Tevez
    c) Lamp + Silva/Yaya + 4 points

    cheers!

Don't take a points hit for modric to protect a 10 point lead. This lead quickly becomes 6, so he has already gained 4 points because he had modric. If the player you wouldve played does better than modric, it's 4 points PLUS that

IMO barring loads of injuries, it's not the time to take hits at all...

It's hard to get 4 points back in 1 game - requires a lot from the new player, nothing from the old player (or whoever would've started), and only 1 game to do it.

Oooooooh! I thought I'd be a good £0.5M or so short, but I have EXACTLY enough to do:

    Odem, Sturridge & Silva OUT
    Berba, Tevez & Gibson IN

I'm 1 point behind in my mini-league and this would be an 8 pointer, but I fancy a big last day off all three of these guys coming in. Worth the hit in your opinion?

I can't see Berba not starting, except for the 2nd leg in the CL he's hardly played lately. Given he's chasing the golden boot, he should be on pens and will more more greedy when it comes to chances that usual I'd expect.

You're only 1 point behind and you want to make it 9 points!? You basically need 2 goals just to get back to 1 point. I would make only your free transfer. If Odem us not fit to play, it would be him.

    Couple of probs this week....

Firstly my back line is non-existent - Luiz, Lolarov, Kelly, Baines, Walker

Do I waste a transfer trying to field a back line or do I concentrate on attack in order to make up the 15 points to catch the leadeer in my mini league

    Next problem....

The leader in my league (my brother) i'm pretty sure will bring in Tevez and possibly Berbaflop too....Can i realistically not bring in Tevez for the final game, bearing in mind I'll have a reasonable amount of differentials elsewhere (see below)

    My Team
    Foster
    Luiz, Baines, Walker (Kolorov, Kelly)
    Nani, Adam, N'Zogbia, Lampard, Yaya
    RVP, Sturridge (Hoilett)

    His Team
    Hart
    Luiz, Coleman, Hangeland, Huth, Kelly
    Silva, VDV, Modric, Downing, Gardner
    Rooney, RVP, Zamora

    Finally, who to captain???

since he's ur brother, cnt u know his password, hack into his account and make him take 20 pts hit?
u can transfer the players out and then in and he wnt notice any change exept when the week score appear

if not kolarov coleman baines and walker i see them all starting
mayeb ud consider tevez for rooney or a blackpool bargain for hoilett (if u can afford)
ull need a bit of luck though as his team looks more diverse and solid than urs

Just bumping up this little back and forth I had with scored. It's really interesting.

    scored says:

For those of you planning to buy tevez and also those planning to sell sturridge. Let me repeat one of many statistics I mentioned a bit higher up the page:

    Bolton’s last 6 home games

    WWWWWL

Man City’s last 6 away games

    DLLLWL

    Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

    Camzy says:

This is good discussion here. I like how the two of us have such differing opinions.

Bolton’s form regardless of home and away fixtures: LLLL

Bolton’s last home defeat: Sunderland who hadn’t scored in their prior 4 away games and had 1 win in their last 11.

Bolton’s last home win: 24th April, almost a month ago, and in the meantime, they’ve also lost 5-0 against Stoke on neutral ground.

You can choose to use scored’s stats or mine.

a lot of rotation in the bolton squad for players who havnt played much this season will make them very vulnerable against a mancity team fighting to avoid CL playoff

id go mancity everyday and it seems mancini is taking it seriously enough to rest silva yesterday after the 2nd goal

dnt really believe in statistics, especially when u see that united's long undefeated run came against a not so solid at hime wolves team

    Camzy and Scored.

You both make valid arguments in favour of Berbatov or Tevez.

However, this is the one week of the season when the formbook goes out if the window.

Sometimes on the last day of the season a team that seemingly has nothing to play for ends up being a spoiler to a team that had to win the game for whatever reason.

Freak results that defy all logic and expectation usually happen on the last day too.

At the end of the day each of us is going to have to decide whether to hitch ourselves to the Tevez of Berbatov bandwagon and live with the consequences.

But, right now, there is no right or wrong answer.

But you have to make a choice. Even if you get both like I plan to, you need a captain.

I'm hedging towards getting both too, but I don't have N'Zogbia and feel like I need him, especially as my rival has him.

If I had to choose one it would be Tevez though.

Have a feeling my rival will get Berbs in though and captain him as he has to make up 35 pts on me this gw.

In light of boltons home statistics i might mark Tevez down slightly.

I would still buy him but maybe hes not worth a four point hit as would have to bring in around 10 points to justify it.

Also against city is that it will be their third game in a week.

Positive for Man u is that they are being presented with the trophy at the match and will maybe make an effort, Berbatov also
has the incentive of the golden boot so is likely to be on penalties

If a player takes a point hit in the first gameweek of the month when do those points come off their month's total. I ask because one of my rivals took an 8pt hit but when I filter the league for may these points have not been taken off yet

I'm only 2 points in front of my rival going into the last week but my team is a mess and he has two freebies. I have to take a hit don't I? Can't get Tevez or Berbatov without it?

Thinking either Silva & Odemwingie > Parker & Berbatov or would have to be either Lampard or Nani out to get Tevez in. So annoying, I've put way too much money into my midfield.

Fancy West Ham this week, would also be pretty typical of them to win big once relegated and seeing as it will probably be his last game for the club I think he'll do well.

No. Do they actually want to play in Europe? Check their last 2 games compared to the 7-9 games before that. Same amount of yellows. Coincidence?

Would this be too risky seeing as I'm only 2 points ahead in my mini league? Rodders/Odemwingie/Lampard > Berbatov/Tevez/Thomas

8 point hit? Would give me a forward line of Berbatov, Tevez and Van Persie. 🙂

just wondering, when you guys are voting on the captain poll, do you vote for the player you are gonna use as captain, or do you vote for the player you think is the best captain option regardless if you have him or not and regardless of own risk tactics?

If you're protecting a TINY cash mini-league lead...and your team is almost identical to rivals (except defense), and he can afford Berba but not Tevez without a hit, but you can afford either, then who'd you go for?

He has the exact same front line...and will have to do either Suarez or RvP to Berba. Problem is that his defence is FAR superior to mine and could easily get 3 cleansheets (to my likely 0). worried that i need to make my striker count...

Good transfers, wait on VDV news though. I saw some interview where he was talking about them goin all in against Brum because they will want to play in Europa. Didn't say anything about his fitness though.

What's the score with Begovic then? Is he likely to play on Sunday does anyone know?

Might have been given an early holiday. I have him & think Foster will take his place either way.

Nine ptd lead for GBP700 with this mess of a team:
          Begovic(Foster)
          Huth/Cahill/Luiz (R Johnson) (M Kelly)
          VDV/Adam/Nzog/Lamps
          Sturridge/RVP/Suarez

          Rival has:
          Gomes (Foster)
          Luiz/Hamgeland grrr/Elmo (Huth) (Clichy)
          Adam/Toure/Nani/Kuyt/Silva
          RVP/Rodellaga (Hernandez)

Thoughts? He will surely bring in Berbs or Tevez. Do I strenghten defence or just do Suarez to Berbs or Tevez? My defence is shocking!

Everyone's defence is shocking this week. No point in investing in it for the last GW either... clean sheets will be a lottery this week. I doubt there will be many.
