The last midweek Dugout Discussion of the season sees a repeat of the enthralling FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Stoke City. There’s no silverware at stake tonight, but for Man City there is the genuine incentive of leap-frogging Arsenal into third, with automatic Champions League qualification the reward for sitting there come Sunday evening.

Although not a televised game, the Dugout Discussion is open for business and serves to house your reactions as the news comes in. The first news in are those all-important line-ups…

Man City XI: Hart, Richards, Kompany, Lescott, Zabaleta, Milner, De Jong, Silva, Yaya Toure, Adam Johnson, Tevez.

Stoke XI: Sorensen, Wilkinson, Collins, Shawcross, Wilson, Pugh, Diao, Whelan, Whitehead, Walters, Carew.

Roberto Mancini names David Silva and Carlos Tevez amongst his first eleven, with the former playing despite being tagged a major injury doubt. Aleksander Kolarov misses out again, to the annoyance of those still unfortunate to own him.

Stoke also make a host of changes, with popular fantasy players Asmir Begovic, Robert Huth and Matthew Etherington all sidelined for one reason or another. Elsewhere, John Carew earns a rare start at the expence of Kenwyn Jones.

Akers Richard or Akers, as he is known, has been regularly haunting this site since July 2008. He is young and foolish, take what he says with a pinch of salt. Follow them on Twitter

    Luiz, Huth, Kolarov, Clark, Johnson(1).

My defense scored a grand total of 1 point this week, what a disaster, happy i still scored 58 but really could and should have been more, really made a mess of my defense! Cost my H2H this week which means i now have a 2 point lead going into the final week, going to be a nerve racking one!

One of the worst buys this season was Clark, made a massive mistake getting him in over Walker, it all went downhill after he got that red card, cost me alot of points the twat!

I guess that could easily have been Luiz 6, Kolarov 6, Johnson 6, so just unlucky mate. 2pts in a normal league is nothing, but 2pt in a h2h league is much more stable than you might think. win and you have won

Yeah i know but would have liked to have it wrapped up this week, only 1 person can catch me now so thats another good thing..Money on the league so hopefully i don't mess it up, captain choice will be crucial more than ever.

With rotation and injuries its not looking good at all Hunter!

Going to make a transfer anyway to try and sort it out, maybe Evans in or something like that.

you can check whether they still have wildcards on their transfer page. chances are they havent so just copy their teams since they are not gonna make huge amounts of transfers. I assume they do have a large number of common players?

Match their Def, at least, that's the exception that can hurt you- like Lescott did today or Hangeland. Probably they won't waste a transfer on a Def. Obviously don't copy an injured Defender. Other than that you should be good with 22 points lead and no one injured.

Well done on 22pt lead and still having WC!

Be interesting to see tips for WC:

I personally wouldn't pci identical team.

      Some players to have:

      Baines
      Tevez
      Berbatov
      Dempsey
      N'Zogbia
      RVDV (if fit)
      Ameobi
      Steve Fletcher

Clean sheets look tricky. Unsure of GK. Maybe this is where you match up with rival.

Am defending a 20 pt lead in my mini league.

Im definetly going to do Rooney --> berbasloth. i can see him getting the goals he needs.

Am considering RVP --> Tevez for a 4pt hit but before i pulled the trigger I had a look at Tevez away form this season:

    2,2,11,12,0,8,16,1,0,16,2,2,6,2,0,1
    Average=79/16= ~5pts per game

For what its worth his scoring is pretty binary and he seems a bit of a flat track bully. The big scores were against Wigan, Blackpool, West Brom, Fulham, Newcastle for those who are interested.

RVP has been ticking over roughly 6-8pts per game consistently and I think he will score against Fulham so the question is will Tevez score more than 10? (6 RVP goal + 4 points hit) I think thats dubious.

Having said that, Bolton have nothing to play for and have been leaky, Fulham are in good form, Arsenal are not, Man City/Tevez have 3rd/Golden boot in sight and most importantly my rival does not have RVP and after todays showing is likely to add Tevez.

So does a 4pt hit to cover Tevez make sense?

Similar situation for me. RVP's away form over the last few is 16, 12, 9, 12, 6, 7, 6, so I might just stick with him, and do the Rooney to Berba move.

agree. RVP is well proven this season and with Arsenal still fighting for 3rd he needs to stay.

Bolton away wont be easy for Man City and Tevez.

I would be making sure any points hits are to remove players likely not to play.

i think keeping RVP is the correct move whilst going for Tevez is a tactical play dependent on what ur rival is doing.

Could be genius. What do you think about Nani? I have to get rid of either Yaya or Silva to get Tevez in. Nani is a risk, N'Zogbia is safe choice I guess.

that's who i'm going nani and tevez. i can see the shalke 2nd leg team minus valencia.
the risk is obvious but if nani does start i think almost everyone would want him. yes he wont have the big guns around him but he's such a greedy old trafford whore it may not matter

2 nite has thrown a curveball. I can do Rooney-->Berba for a free. if i want tevez i have to take a hit and take out yaya or silva as well. If i want both tevez and berba involves 8pt hit. I will be protecting a 10/12pt lead. What is best option?

        John Sheridan's Barmy Army!!

He's done an amazing job but I realise he'll move on to bigger (not better!) clubs of the back of this year's success. Just hope he hangs around for the next couple of years and we have a real go at getting into the Championship.

It's so great to see Chesterfield play attacking football 🙂

I thot Cardiff were pis poor tonight......Any team that comes up to Premiership has to be able to show a few qualities and tonight they didnt have any?

When they went behind they showed no spirit or fight - perhaps too many loan players?

Swansea v Reading let the best team win.

No, not at all. There was a couple of soft penalty claims for Cardiff early on but for me he got both of them right. The Reading penalty was spot on (no pun intended) He done well, maybe missed a handball by Federici outside the box but it was a hard call especially from where he was. Other than that no-one can have any complaints really.

I dont think he was too bad, maybe should have given Cardiff a pen but he can't be an excuse for the result, Reading were by far the better side. Certainly can't have any complaints with the Reading pen, stupid defending.

not in my opinion.....the pen was nailed on, there was few cardiff penalty calls - but seeing replays all were right decision altho griffin lucky to escape holding at a corner.

Reading keeper did use a hand outside box - but again 2nd reply showed it - and webb was miles away.

Reading took the goals gifted to them and city failed to respond.

He has walker coming on for 7, I have Cahill(-1).

          I make it a 7 point lead.

I've been ahead since gameweek 21 and he could pip me at the end. Anyway at least it's a lead, although I had a lead last year on the last day and lost.
