It’s almost over. The last match of gameweek 37 saw a Carlo Tevez-inspired Man City hammer Stoke to leapfrog Arsenal into third place in the race for automatic Champions League qualification and bring further cheer to the blue half of Manchester, still basking in the glory of a weekend FA Cup win. Onwards, now, to what is being termed “Survival Sunday” as the season is set to culminate in a nail-biting finish this upcoming weekend. Here’s the notes from last night‘s game…

Carlos Tevez
A stunning brace from the Argentine last night means he is now joint-top with Dimitar Berbatov on 21 league goals for the campaign and puts an interesting spin on this Sunday‘s games. Both will surely be transferred-in by tens of thousands before the weekend, with the title of Premier League top scorer 2010/11 up for grabs.

With Man United facing Barcelona in the Champions League Final next weekend and the title already in the bag, Berbatov is strongly fancied to start at home to Blackpool, while Tevez heads to Bolton looking to fire City to that all-important third place. It will be far from straightforward, though; Roberto Mancini’s side have lost four of their last five on the road and the Trotters are particularly strong at home. Tevez is on both free-kicks and penalties, giving him a definite advantage; if United get a spot-kick, will Fergie let the Bulgarian step forward and get one over the “noisy neighbours”?

Joe Hart
Hart is now assured of the Golden Glove award, having picked up his 17th clean sheet of the season last night but -as our Keeper of the Season poll shows- the lower-priced Ben Foster has proven to be the better Fantasy pick this term.

Mancini’s inconsistency of selection amongst the City back four is a real bone of contention with Fantasy Managers; Pablo Zabaleta is their top-scoring defender with just 96 points, a ridiculously low tally for a side that have almost one clean sheet every other game. Having taken part in Saturday’s FA Cup Final, Aleksander Kolarov was dropped to the bench last night, much to the chagrin/amusement of Fantasy Football Scout users, depending which side of the fence you sit on. A rest last night, however, may suggest he’ll take to the field this Sunday, as Mancini rotates at the back yet again.

Stoke on their Last Legs
The season’s end can’t come soon enough for Stoke now. Last night saw Robert Huth, Jermaine Pennant and Matt Etherington all miss out, despite the trio’s participation in the FA Cup Final. Having lost out on silverware to the very same opponents only three days earlier, it was a cruel twist of fate that saw Tony Pulis’ side travel to Eastlands so soon after their Wembley woe, with the crowd’s celebratory mood throughout a reminder of what could have been.

Wigan head to the Britannia looking for a win that may well save them from relegation and if such key personnel continue to be missing this Sunday, Roberto Martinez’s men may well be in with a better than usual chance of escape, given that Stoke haven’t been beaten at home since gameweek 20.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Who's likely to score more this week- tevez or berbatov? I don't want to take a hit as i'm looking to close a 5 point gap.

    Not bad.

    Morning guys.

So beginning of last week I was 13 points behind my rival, despite getting 90 this week I am still 7 points behind 🙁

Already used my freebie on Chico>Berbs, debating doing a hit to bring in maybe Gibson and Tevez...worth it? Or should I just leave my team as is and close my eyes?

slipped back 400 places and now my top 500 finish looking unlikely.
Could really do with a greeny this week...esp as im protecting a 4 point mini-league lead.
Now is Berba or Tevez going to get it for me...
    Also...how about Nani for (c)

I am thinking of a 12 pt also. Mine would be something like...

      Odem > Berba
      Suarez > Tevez
      VDV > Sessegnon
      Silva > A.Johnson (or Modric)

Or might just do a 4 point hit:

      Odem > Berba
      Silva > Sessegnon

      especially if VDV is fit

I'm not really sure it matters whether you're going to captain a player you take a hit for.

The only thing that matters is that you think they'll score 5 or more than the player you're getting rid of.

That being said, it's hard to look past Tevez or Berbs (c)

First time this season I forgot there was a game last night, saw the round up this morning and scrambled to see if my Silva OUT N'Zogbia IN move was a complete success, and it was!

Walker in with 7 to make it a nice and comfortable 73 for the week is also very nice.

Now what to do for the weekend, Berbatov and Tevez are the "hot" properties going into the final game being joint, safe to say that if Rooney doesn't play Berbatov will be on pens, and Rooney is not going to play, so Tevez and Berb, both on pens, one home, one away, I think I am with Berbatron.

Yeah Berba all the way for me, given the choice. Tevez fees like somewhat of a knee-jerk. Especially if it comes at the expense of RVP who is uber consistant. That said, if I was looking for a differential I'd be all over Tevez...probably.

cheers....I may make a change elsewhere. Can't see the logic in a hit to swap a guarenteed starting goalscorer for another. Injury news to VDV and Odem will be key for me this week.

Suarez and RVP > Tevez and Berbatov?

Feels wrong to swap RVP but it's my only way to jump on this bandwagon. Without it I can only get Berbatov.

True, but think West Ham will be going a bit gung-ho just to give the fans something. Also can't see ba being rotated as would send out the message that he isn't supported following the racism debacle.

you can safely assume that RVP will score or assist so will get 5-6 pts minimum. worth considering. If that is for a pts hit as well then Berb or Tevez will have to score around 10. that is possible. If I was you I'd just do Suarez for Berb.

The Berbvez Bandwagon is without doubt in full swing and I am very tempted to jump on, but what do people think about RVP this weekend?

I have a feeling he could out score both as will be playing a Fulham side focussed on not picking up any bookings, something that will suit Arsenal very nicely and could see RVP run riot.

I need some major, major help…

I have been playing FPL for a few years with my mates and we always have a large mini league for money each year. We also have a Champions League for anyone who has won the main league.

This year we decided that the person that finishes last in the CL has to, as a forfeit, go on a night out with the others dressed in ladies clothing chosen by the winner.

Until gameweek 34 I was comfortably mid table (about points 130pts ahead) I have had a nightmare since then and I am only 3 points ahead going into the last gameweek…

Please help, I need to know what to do with my team. I have posted his and my teams below. Any help regarding transfers/line-up/Captain would be amazing. Its Squeaky bum time…

    Me:

    Foster, Myhil
    Luiz, Walker, Simpson, Wilkinson, Terry
    Nani, VDV, Adam, Lampard, Kyut
    RVP, Odemwingie, SEB

    Him:

      "comfortably mid table"

And the oxymornon of the day goes to...

I jest. You're definatly stronger at the moment. You'r GKs are fine and you can field a decent defence. You're midfield could run into difficulty - we don't know if Nani will play, VDV potentially out and in all honesty your strike force isn't all that.

First things first, you need Berbatov going into this week, preferably at the expense of Zigic, but if you don't have the funds then Odem. I'd also say to mitigate some of the risk in your midfield I'd ship VDV (pending any news this week) for Modric. Those two transfers should stand you in good stead.

Most importantly though, unless funds don't permit, hold out until the last minute to see how many transfers your rival makes. If he's taking hits then you can certainly justify the two moves, if not I'd consider just the one transfer this week to maintain that 3 point gap.

Kind people, a little betting advice needed, please...

Had a bet at the start of the season that Bolton would finish above West Brom [Wolves, Wigan, Blackpool], and stand to win just under 200 quid - a fair bit for me - if it comes down.

Bolton, thanks to their wanky form over the past few weeks (and WBA's resurgence under Woy), are now level on points with WBA - albeit with a vastly superior goal difference. So if West Brom get a better result than Bolton this weekend, I'm stuffed.

    Bolton - home to City
West Brom - away at Newcastle

How best to secure a profit from this situation?!

Without looking at the odds. £50 on WBA win, £50 on WBA draw.

Approximately, £100 profit locked in i'd say and coukld actually make more cash if either of those come up and Bolton get the result they need.

        Was thinking two seperate bets:

West Brom win & lay Bolton

Forget that - just realised my mistake.

If you can do accy's like that than go for it if the odds are good. Otherwise the version i suggested will lock in some good profit and give you a good chance of making more.

No point laying Bolton as the odds will be pretty wank, about 1/7. If I were you, I'd bet on double chance West Brom (4/5 on Stan James).

      - Bolton win/draw/lose & West Brom lose you've got the Bolton money.
      - Bolton lose & West Brom draw/win you've got the West Brom money.
      - Can't be bothered to go through all combinations, but money either way....I think. Unless Citeh batter Bolton by 15 or so goals!

And you've got the best case scenario of West Brom win/draw (with Bolton matching, and so finishing above) for a win on both bets.

In the rather ridiculous position where I might as well take some hits this week. In my work minileague (for a nice amount of cash), I'm in 2nd. 1st is 90pts ahead of me; 3rd is about 50pts behind. So I might as well go for the dream team this week, as it's the only way I'll chase 1st, but I'm ahead of 3rd enough to not risk slipping.

So, with no (reasonable) limit on hits, what would you do with this team?

    Foster
    Baines, G.Johnson, Luiz, Cahill, Djourou
    Lampard, Silva, Kuyt, Maxi, N'Zogbia
    RVP, Odemwingie, Sturridge

I'm thinking logical targets might include Lescott, Berba, Tevez, Adam?

    Any advice very gratefully received!
I'm third in my mini league with £300 at stake, trailing by 13pts and 1pt respectively.
I have major problems with injuries and rotations, but two free transfers. Plenty of funds available, because (clearly) Fabregas has gotta go...
    Hart, (Begovic)
    Walker, Kolarov, Luiz, (Carr, Wheater)
    Silva, VdV, Lampard, Fabregas (Sandro)
    Sturridge, RvP, Hernandez
    So Fabregas > ?
    Tevez? Berbatov? Both?!
AND my defence is miserable... but I'm only willing to pay 4pts as an absolute maximum.
    Anyone fancy working their magic...?

Fabregas > N'Zogbia (Even though he might not do as well as this week, he'll be trying hard and be on form)
Hernandez > Berbatov or Tevez (I think Tevez slightly because he has now has proven form, but Berbatov will be against an easier defence)
