It’s almost over. The last match of gameweek 37 saw a Carlo Tevez-inspired Man City hammer Stoke to leapfrog Arsenal into third place in the race for automatic Champions League qualification and bring further cheer to the blue half of Manchester, still basking in the glory of a weekend FA Cup win. Onwards, now, to what is being termed “Survival Sunday” as the season is set to culminate in a nail-biting finish this upcoming weekend. Here’s the notes from last night‘s game…

Carlos Tevez
A stunning brace from the Argentine last night means he is now joint-top with Dimitar Berbatov on 21 league goals for the campaign and puts an interesting spin on this Sunday‘s games. Both will surely be transferred-in by tens of thousands before the weekend, with the title of Premier League top scorer 2010/11 up for grabs.

With Man United facing Barcelona in the Champions League Final next weekend and the title already in the bag, Berbatov is strongly fancied to start at home to Blackpool, while Tevez heads to Bolton looking to fire City to that all-important third place. It will be far from straightforward, though; Roberto Mancini’s side have lost four of their last five on the road and the Trotters are particularly strong at home. Tevez is on both free-kicks and penalties, giving him a definite advantage; if United get a spot-kick, will Fergie let the Bulgarian step forward and get one over the “noisy neighbours”?

Joe Hart
Hart is now assured of the Golden Glove award, having picked up his 17th clean sheet of the season last night but -as our Keeper of the Season poll shows- the lower-priced Ben Foster has proven to be the better Fantasy pick this term.

Mancini’s inconsistency of selection amongst the City back four is a real bone of contention with Fantasy Managers; Pablo Zabaleta is their top-scoring defender with just 96 points, a ridiculously low tally for a side that have almost one clean sheet every other game. Having taken part in Saturday’s FA Cup Final, Aleksander Kolarov was dropped to the bench last night, much to the chagrin/amusement of Fantasy Football Scout users, depending which side of the fence you sit on. A rest last night, however, may suggest he’ll take to the field this Sunday, as Mancini rotates at the back yet again.

Stoke on their Last Legs
The season’s end can’t come soon enough for Stoke now. Last night saw Robert Huth, Jermaine Pennant and Matt Etherington all miss out, despite the trio’s participation in the FA Cup Final. Having lost out on silverware to the very same opponents only three days earlier, it was a cruel twist of fate that saw Tony Pulis’ side travel to Eastlands so soon after their Wembley woe, with the crowd’s celebratory mood throughout a reminder of what could have been.

Wigan head to the Britannia looking for a win that may well save them from relegation and if such key personnel continue to be missing this Sunday, Roberto Martinez’s men may well be in with a better than usual chance of escape, given that Stoke haven’t been beaten at home since gameweek 20.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Im going to do FIVE transfers this week and strongly believe it's profitable!!

    Suarez -> Tevez
    Welbeck-> Berbatov
    Lampard-> Nani
    Silva -> Modric
Luiz -> Taylor R. or Smalling

    What do you think?

You have a huge gamble that not only do they repay the 4 points but exceed thier replacements

That gonna happen for all of them?

This was lost on the last page -

    I have 2 frees and a front 8 of

    Adam VDV Lampard Yaya Silva
    RVP Bent Zamora

im thinking Zamora – Berba is a given

Do i either go for –

    Yaya & Silva – Gibson/ohara & Nani

    or

    Bent & Silva – Tevez & Gibson/ohara

    Or any other ideas?

Do you think I should just leave my transfers now? Chasing 7 points is really justified with a hit is it?

You will not win the last chance saloon and neither will I 🙁

I'm 9 and 14 points behind my rivals. If none of my players that are doubtful gets confirmed injured, should I avoid taking a hit? None of my rivals have Berb or Tevez, so I kinda want to get both, but would need an eight point hit for that.

Just go with Bent -> Berbatov and hope that is enough?

And can you see the transfer my rivals make if you use greasemonkey?

Torres + Suarez > Berbatov + Tevez is possibly the most obvious transfer I've had to do all season.
Problem is it's almost too obvious and I have 26 points to make up so if my rival does the same then I'll have far less chance of catching him.
On the up side he's already done Nolan > N'zogs so if he does copy me it will reduce the gap to 22 (at least) and he'll probably be RVP-less.

Right, sorry to clog up space with this again, but what do people reckon:

    Option A:

£100 profit if West Brom lose.
£0 profit if West Brom finish above Bolton.
£280 profit if West Brom don't lose, and still finish below Bolton.

    Option B:

£44 profit if West Brom lose.
£44 profit if West Brom finish above Bolton.
£355 profit if West Brom don't lose, and still finish below Bolton.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is my summer ice cream fund at stake here! 😀

Odemwingie and West Brom are too unpredictable for me. I think Newcastle's back four will have trouble with Odem, but I also think West Brom's back four have trouble with most things. Too close to call for me, hence option B.

I'd to it to be honest - although Fletcher is on form and tempting, I think RVP's always the safer option, and on form himself. If you can afford it and don't mind the hit, you might as well go Tevez-RVP-Berba.

MF: Silva, A. Young, Kuyt, VDV, Malouda

I'm thinking of trading Malouda for N'Zogbia this week. I'm not really sold on the Berbatov frenzy but I'm tempted to get Tevez in for Sturridge and maybe loose Silva or Young from my midfield. Any recommendations?

I curtrently have Odem RVP and Bent up front,

Theyre all on MASSIVE form , scored loads and look to continue, is it really worth getting the likes of Berba and Tevez in for any of them? I really want to take advantage of United Home game, and Berba looks so good, but who would i put him in for? same with Tevez!!

Am i better off getting Nani or VDV for likes of Adam or Lampard? Also have Silva, NZogbia and Kuyt.....

    THANKS!

    Foster (Begovic)
    Walker, Luiz, Dawson (R.Johnson, Huth)
    Adam, Modric, Silva, vDV, N'Zogbia
    Bent, RvP (Carroll)

5.3 in the bank, one transfer. Chasing a guy with a 32 point lead. Can't see hits being worth it this final week because they don't have time to pay off.

    (From previous page)

Could do with some transfer advice.

2nd in mini-league; 1st is 90pts ahead, 3rd is 50ish pts behind. So I may as well take some hits, have some fun on the final week and go for the dream team (and the off-chance of regaining 90pts!)

    Foster
    Baines, GJohnson, Luiz, Cahill, Djourou
    Lampard, Kuyt, Silva, Maxi, N'Zogbia
    RVP, Sturridge, Odem

If hits were no obstacle (within reason), who would you want to get in this week?

    Foster Schwarzer
    Luiz Lescott R.Johnson Huth Enrique
    VDV Lampard N'Zogbia Y.Toure A.Young
    RVP Odemwingie Sturridge
    Thinking 4 point hit for
    Adams in for which midfielder?
and Odemwingie out for which forward?
    Suggestions?

I'd say Adam in for VDV; Berba or Tevez in for Odem.

I was thinking that but worried as only leaves me 0.2 (but not sure it will swing 0.3 (Carrol will go down 0.1 but hoping Berba doenst go up more than 0.2)

    Awesome season review:

"The continuing uselessness of Match of the Day

Gary Lineker epitomises everything that is wrong with BBC television's football coverage. It is not that he is a bad presenter – he is perfectly adequate at introducing matches – it's that he is a wasted opportunity. As an articulate and thoughtful man and a former player of rich experience, he surely has much insight and information to share. But he is not asked to share it. Instead, the BBC ask him to gurn photogenically at the camera and pop off trite stats and pap. We, the viewers, are not expected to be enlightened or entertained, we are expected to bask in the glow of Lineker's celebrity. Same with the pundits: the BBC does not think we want to be educated by them, they think we want to hang out with them. So every Saturday we're invited around to the Match of the Day sofa for smug banter and crap. Tell you what then, lads: just show the football and shut up."
