We were all set to call this episode ‘Lolorov part 2 – to be continued next season’, but during the recording, something rather more fitting cropped up.

The final podcast of the season is with us to reveal that “deprivation” is the key word when it comes to Mark’s season finale. When Sunday rolls around and the hardcore (I include myself in this) are watching the season finale in glorious HD, Mark is set to be consigned to follow the action via a mobile phone. An old boy is 99 not out and our host is booked in to party along with the Werthers originals and rich tea biscuit dunking. Not the season climax our Mark had in mind.

Even so, Mark could still be smiling. It’s the last gameweek of the season and our rivalry comes down to a precarious 7-point gap in my favour. I’ve been ahead since gameweek 21, surely it would be ridiculous to lose it in this final week? I trust you’ll all be routing for #teamgranville come Sunday.

Listen in and sense my discomfort as we start the build up Sunday’s games, complete with the usual sprinkling of regulars and meaningless banter.

    Slightly random question, but does anyone know how FFS facebook updates are finding their way into my news feed?? I've never had any interaction with this site on Facebook, but I still seem to get the odd update. I don't mind really, just can't work out how it's happened!

        I still think Suarez could score big against Villa though. Spurs aside their form has been brilliant, and Villa haven't got anything left to play for.

        Oh I just don't know.

        If it was a free for either i'd put Tev in. But I don't like the idea of downgrading someone as consistant as Lamps and losing 4 pts to get Tev in.

        Might be a job for the lucky hat at 11.25 on Sunday this one.

      Yep - interesting.

      I think optimally he should play. There are still 6 more days of rest before the CL games and he's already had 6 days of rest so it might as well make him lose sharpness and match speed if he doesn't play. Then again, Fergie is probably scared of an injury 🙁

          If anything, it makes Berbatov more tempting. He's scored most of his goals lining up alongside Rooney. I can possibly see Rooney and Berbatov starting together with Rooney going off after 60 minutes.

      If Rooney plays, isn't that better for Berbatov? All his big scores this season have come with Rooney in the side.

      Fergie has already said that Hernandez will be rested, so you have to assume that Berbatov will start.

      Anyway, I can't personally see Rooney starting. Owen will almost certainly play alongside Berbatov IMO.

        Yeah it is better for him. Berbatov will surely start, but if Rooney does too, i don't expect it to be for the whole match. 45-60 Minutes would be enough to keep the sharpness that he talked about ahead of the final. He can then quite conceivably get substituted for Owen

    I'm beginning to chill on United players - berba or otherwise. Could well be a damp squib of a game and happy to play out a draw and selection looks way too dodgy at this stage. I think berba will play but he hardly has form coming into it.

    I'm beginning to think tevez is a much better option even away if fit. And maybe defoe as a differential against the worst form team in the league?

    Just a few thoughts on the tevez/berba debate

    Tevez

    -> May have a point to prove
    -> Bolton - look on holiday
    -> More on form
    -> May have better players round him
    -> City are playing for something

    -> More expensive
    -> City's away form = not the best
    -> Bolton home form is solid

    Berbatov

    -> Playing blackpool at home
    -> Cheaper

    -> Still risk of starting
    -> Have nothing to play for
    -> Playing with basically reserves

      Think that's a fair summary - on balance (if cash not an option) that points to tevez. But i take Deadcat's point about Blackpool games - there's a chance of a 4-4 or something silly alright. Problem is that they could be coming from Gibson/Obertan/Bebe:)
      City's goals will probably be coming from Tevez if he plays.

      I think defoe is worth a gamble. I'm 30 points behind in my league so it's pretty academic anyway and i might even captain him

        Critics point out that this isn't the first time Mr Camping has predicted the second coming. On 6 September 1994, hundreds of his listeners gathered at an auditorium in Alameda looking forward to Christ's return.

        "At that time there was a lot of the Bible I had not really researched very carefully," he said last week. "But now, we've had the chance to do just an enormous amount of additional study and God has given us outstanding proofs that it really is going to happen."

        Same excuse tomorrow then?

        "After 70 years of studying the Bible, he claims to have developed a system that uses mathematics to interpret prophesies hidden in it. He says the world will end on 21 May, because that will be 722,500 days from 1 April AD33, which he believes was the day of the Crucifixion. The figure of 722,500 is important because you get it by multiplying three holy numbers (five, 10 and 17) together twice. "When I found this out, I tell you, it blew my mind," he said."

        Foolproof!

          Ah - well Alex much prefers players' public statements about his selections. If anything this makes it much more likely he doesn't get in squad.

          I imagine a lot of frontliners - Giggs, Vidic, Rooney might come on at the end for an ovation.

    just got a question on betting, prob sounds so stupid when i ask but here goes anyway

    if you bet on 4 teams to win knowing that the result will automatically affect your next bet am i correct in saying this will not be allowed

    for example if you were to bet that wolves, wigan, spurs and blackpool were to win and also that blackburn would be relegated

    is this allowed as the effects of the 1st 4 results automatically mean the 5 bet comes in?

    am i making sense

      You can bet on any combination you want, this is all about stat to be fair (if you need A abd B to happen to win on C, the odds on A/B to win should equal C to win) - hope I make sense as well

      you are correct. You can get specials and so on for these types of outcomes but you can't benefit from odds on your fifth bet (Blackburn relegated) and your first bet (Wolves win) where the outcome of the first bet alters the likelihood of your 5th bet being successful.

      For the odds to stand in an accumulator each event needs to be independent from one another and in no way make the subsequent event more likely. A bit like betting on 1st goalscorer (6/1) and that team to win 1-0 (5/1). A scorecast would pay nearer 25/1 than if it was a £1 double which would pay £42.

      The example I like to use is not being able to do the following treble.

      0-0
      H/T: Draw, F/T: Draw
      No Goalscorer

      A 0-0 scoreline means all three bets are successful and the bet would be settled on the odds of a 0-0 scoreline.

      A little tip, although most football punters would know it. Never bet on a 0-0 and instead bet on there being No Goalscorer as own goals don't count. Only as recent as the Man C v Spurs game, a no goalscorer bet would have paid out through the Crouch own goal, whereas the 0-0 would have been a losing bet. Typically the odds are the same.

    Ok I've made my transfers but have a slight dilemma of who to play out of my front 8 here's my current side / subs:

    Foster

    Hangeland, Kolarov, Flanagan (Djourou, Meite)

    Kuyt, Lampard, N'Zogbia, Modric (Adam)

    Suarez, Tevez, Van Persie

    Big dilemma for me is do I bring in Adam and if so who for??

          Modric (and then Suarez) was the biggest candidate to be dropped for me but interesting no one has agreed so far!

        I'm hoping for goals galore this weekend so think it will be won up front rather than my weak defence.

          Kolarov will start. As part of the rotation Kolarov played the cup final and is still first choice left back, hence why he got that game and not the 'lesser' league game v Stoke.

          Mancini will play his first choice team and I'm convinced that includes Kolarov.
