Alex Ferguson has this morning confirmed a number of players that will see action in Sunday’s encounter with Blackpool. The United boss countered claims that he will be fielding a second-string starting XI by using today’s press conference to list those who will play their part…

“On Sunday we’ll do our fairest to make sure there’s no criticism of the club. There are players who need a game anyway. Darren Fletcher, Paul Scholes and Anderson will all play. Berbatov, Evra, van der Sar as well. They’ll all play – that’s certain.”

The news offers Fantasy Managers reassurance of a start for Berbatov – a factor that will surely boost further acquisitions of the Bulgarian striker over the next 48-hours. Berbatov would seem likely to line up in attack, perhaps with Michael Owen, although with Anderson also confirmed as a starter, he could be pushed forward in support of the attack in a 4-5-1 with Fletcher and Scholes patrolling in front of the back four. All three midfielders will now come into the mix for final day Fantasy transfers.

A 4-3-3 is also a distinct possibility – that would bring Owen and perhaps even Nani into the equation – although with Ferguson failing to name Nani today, there is clearly some doubt over his prospects of earning a start. Similarly, with no mention of Wayne Rooney, he looks set to miss out, despite his eagerness to play a part against the seasiders…

“It’s down to the manager to pick what team he wants to play in the two matches…But I’m sure all the players want to play. You play football to play in these games and I hope I can play on Sunday. You want to keep ticking over.”

The selection of Patrice Evra is significant – he sat on the bench at Blackburn with a knock and is clearly being given pitch-time on Sunday to prove his fitness ahead of the Champions League final. His inclusion now casts doubt on United’s back four selection. While Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans look favourites to start in the centre, the right-back role appears to be up for grabs. Fabio, Rafael and John O’Shea would appear to be in the reckoning, although both O’Shea and Rafael are themselves recovering from recent injuries and may well miss out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I want to get Tevez and Berbatron in, but my defense is pretty s**t. I'm four points behind my rival, so I'm thinking of just going all out and doing three transfers. It's all or nothing now, no point in being conservative. Anyone got any recommendations for replacements in defense? Thinking of Djourou out for Dawson.

Think about it. Unless you have 2 freebies the defender will start on -4 pts.

Even if he's lucky enough to keep a cleanie you're only 2 pts up on the deal.

But since the def you sold will prob get 2 pts anyway then you've gained nothing and, in reality will have just put yourself further behind the person you're chasing.

Just get the two strikers and trust your defence as it is.

I was always looking at this fixture as a great one for Ba considering we're shipping goals for fun but yeah I'm worried too what with this week's events and fact Ba pretty much certain not to be there next season. Saying that mind you I did read somewhere that they were going to offer him a new contract but I don't see how that's financially possible with them being relegated.

            Verdict = Inconclusive!! 🙁

cheers microcuts, I've got silva but as it is I have to bench one of him or lamps if vdv is fit. I don't think there will be many goals in city v bolton though. Modric seems the safest bet to me, he'll likely boss the game and get 3bp's and maybe an assist. Anderson could do well as could hunt, both more likely 2 pointers than modric but also more likely to get a big haul imo.

    Here is my team

    Foster
    Smalling, Luiz, Huth
    Silva, Adam, Kuyt, Lamps
    RVP, Odem, Suarez

    Begovic: Maxi, Kolorov, Coleman

My 90 point lead has been dragged down to about 45-50 in one week by the 2nd placed person

His team is: (same players as mine in Caps)

    FOSTER
    Hangland, Baines, HUTH
    Nani, ADAM, KUYT, Vdv
    RVP, ODEM, Bent

    Carson, Ferguson, Gallas, Clark

His differentials are Hangeland, Baines, VDV, Nani, Bent...I am trying to cut out all his differentials rather than picking other players who are predicted to do well e.g. Ngzobia, Berba (otherwise I could loose what lead I have left)

    Hence

    1. Luiz (or Kolorov) for > Hangeland (Im sure Kolorov will score more than Luiz? Hence Luiz > Hangeland)

    2. Lamps for VDV ??? (Not sure if VDV will play??)

    3. Suarez out for > Bent or Tevez (I can see Tevez outscoring Bent this week???, not convinced by Berba)

Sorry about the long winded post...really would appreciate your input..

Cant decide if i should cover some of his differentials (he has Tevez, Vdv, Hangeland, Adam, Odem), or jump on the Berbatov/Nzogbia bandwagon.

Doesn't necessarily mean he wont start, there is just a slight doubt now.

The extraneous information delivered to your computer via the internet site is designed 'to f**k with your mind'. It's big brothers way of getting us to all walk round in a daze whilst they control us from their luxury pods.

I'd be very surprised if he doesn't start in all honesty. A win guarantees third spot, and they stand a better chance with Tevez in the side.

Boils down to that Bubbles. He's played whilst having had barneys and upset in the past and still scored. If Man C don't play him it's cutting their nose off to spite their face.

Sorry for the repost:Odemwingie->Berba for a 4 pt. hit??(Already done Drog->Tevez for free.)Do we think Berba will outscore Odem by 4?I still think Odem,if fit,can easily put a 9-13 pointer against Newcastle. The move will leave me with 0.0 in the bank so I’ll have to do it tonight, lest Odem drops in price. What do you guys think? My current team is:

      Foster,(Al-Habsi),
      Coleman,Simpson,Djourou,(Luiz,Jiranek),
      N’Zog,Kuyt,Adam,Barton,(Lampard),
      Odem,Tevez(C),RVP.(3.4 in bank)

      Let's do the alphabeticks!

      1. Who to play, rival has yaya, but I am leading by 15 points
      a) silva
      b) yaya

      2. After news considering berbatov and tevez
      a) modric + berba + 4 points
      b) berba + tevez

And if you think 2. is b, I have one more for you..
      3. Who to bech?
Andersson, Adam, Lamp, Yaya, Vdv, Tevez, Rvp, Berba?
Feels stupid to pick Andersson, but then again, rival has Yaya...
