The final part of our fixture analysis guide examines the remaining eleven teams who are set to represent the budget end of the player market. Favourable runs of fixtures will be vital to their potential of Fantasy profit and our Members guide looks to isolate these gameweek windows, ultimately offering recommendations on when and how to invest in the low-mid-price market. …
fir....wish I could read article.
Open ControlsHaha, I'm sure it's very good, but I did my own over the weekend.
Open Controls
How's everyone's Monday going? I'm bored sh*tless in work right now.
Open Controlsgood. I had a really chilled out weekend. I drank loads on Saturday and forgot to eat, so I was pretty wasted when Donna took me out for cocktails, then Wagamama. The guy asked me how my food was, and I said "this is without a doubt the finest chicken katsu I have ever recieved. Extend my compliments to the chef."
At least I gave a generous tip.Open Controlsalways entertaining soup 😉
Open ControlsI've made the mistake of drinking for a whole day without eating. I certainly gave my compliments to the train toilet on the way home.
And now you've got me thinking about Japanese food. Thanks.Open ControlsSometimes it's just that rice that does it for me. The really glutinous stuff. Crap, now I'm hungry too ðŸ™
How was everyone elses weekend?
My best friend came down for London, and we managed to find a bar with a (kind of) roof terrace that we had to ourselves for hours. Superb.Open Controls
Rumour is Fergie is going to table 20mil offer for Nasri. Coincidence that Nasri was going to meet with Arsene today to discuss his future?
😀Open ControlsI'd forgotten about this: It's the Mr T automatic fool-pitier I created.
http://baracus.wikidot.com/startOpen ControlsCan't. Stop. Laughing.
http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/weekend/review/reader-offer-201106253996/Open ControlsErm..... why are Newcastle bidding for Darren Gibson? He's pretty crap. About the same level (but older) as Guthrie who we are trying to sell.
Weird. And £6m ish is quite a lot relatively speaking (Cabaye was £4.5 ish), seems like a waste of cash on a pretty average - poor player.Open ControlsWell, your manager/owner(delete as appropriate) disagrees with you ... 😉
Open ControlsThought he was off to Sun?
Open ControlsI bloody hope he is! If they get Gardner and we get Gibson I will be sucking bitter lemons.
Besides we have loads of midfielders including Gosling who needs a run, we don't need the tosser.Open Controls
- Open Controls
Gibsons a lot better than Guthrie.
Open Controlslol

Steak hammers are now more commonly manufactured using a more rigid material such as wood. This has been the case since food rationing in the first World War, when steak hammers were considered a waste of meat.
Open ControlsI'm trying to make sense of it,and failing badly. Is it a quote from somewhere Soop?
Open ControlsIt's based on the asurd principle that a steak hammer would actually be made from steak.
And it's a quote of mine.Open ControlsThank god I thought that's what it was, but didn't want to appear dim 🙂 Like I do now.
Open Controls
Wood makes a better material than steak, obviously. 😛
Open Controls
Has anyone had the coxsackie virus?
* Not the STD you had Soop.Open ControlsJust looked it up. Doesn't sound good. Hope the family is ok!
Open Controls
+1, Although I can see him losing today, gasget (pretty sure thats not how it's spelt) at 3/1 is a goopd price imo.
Open ControlsGotta be laying him at his current price, he's bound to trade bigger IR. Might just back Gasquet anyay
Open ControlsHave a try on Llodra 9/1 SD.. He will have a good match vs Djoko on his favourite surface!
Open ControlsYou think it's worth laying Djokovic 3-0 @ 1.75?
Open ControlsNice. I can lay "3 sets" on Betfair at around 1.65 so that might be the play

Strange how none of the few RMT's on here at the moment have Kuyt/VDV in them. Not to long ago they were the flavour of the month.
Open ControlsI think Spurs fixtures are pretty tough and there was talk of VDV maybe being a forward in the games next year. Kuyt - I never had him in my team last year when he was scoring big, but gerrard will be back taking him off pens and liverpool will play with Carroll and Suarez up top so he wont be an appealing OOP
Open Controls
When does FPL 'open' again and we can start creating team for 11/12 season? thanks
Open ControlsNice little rotation strategy for the defence here:
Reina, Howard
Baines, Best Liverpool Defender, Steven Taylor, Sunderland, Chelsea
Costs a few bob (aprx 37m from last seasons prices if you get the most expensive Liverpool, Sunderland and Chelsea defender). But gives a really strong doubled up defence for all fixtures and rotates well. A cheaper option which rotates slightly better is replacing the Chelsea defender with Hangeland from Fulham.
Example team using last seasons prices:
Howard, Reina
Baines, G.Johnson, S.Taylor, Onuoha, A.Cole
Downing, Ben Arfa, N'Zogbia, Sessegnon, VDV
RVP, Torres, Ba
3.8m in bank.Open ControlsHmmmm, too much there in the defence and keepers imo.
If you're buying someone like Reina then he should be played practically every game I think. Similarly with Johnson, and more so Baines. You never know when he'll pop up with an assist/goal. Interesting idea though.Open ControlsIt's a different line to my usual cheapie backline and strong midfield. I think I'll try it.
Open Controls
I'm a man on the edge tosey. A loose cannon goddam maverick
Open Controls
I like your logic although id gor
Ba - Bent
VDV - Sinclair
And looks it good.Open ControlsYeah players are obviously subject to change. It's the general idea I'm thinking of though.
Open Controls
No exposure to City defence or Bent up front?
Open ControlsWell I could change the expensive defender slot (currently shown as A.Cole) to being a good bet from the City defence.
Not sure of exact players yet, I just wanted to give an impression that despite investment in defence a strong forward line is still possible.Open Controls
I don't like it, you just can't rotate expensive defenders and keepers like that. Based on best guess pricing, I get you coming in at 4.5 m over too! I like your attackers though.
At the mo' I'm looking at a defence of:
AVL, QPR
Kompany, Terry, WIG, WBA, WOL
Clearly the 3 W's are a terrible idea, but the fixtures of all 5 mesh really well.Open ControlsWell to get over the price issue I deliberately chose the most expensive defenders from Liverpool, Chelsea, Sunderland - could always go for a better value one from each to balance the books.
Last season I started with a decent defender and the rest cheapies from lower half teams - cant believe how much it cost me in terms of points, all the 6's from cleanies really added up.
This time I'm going to do the different thing and try a strong defence.Open Controls14 mil-ish on two defenders IS spending big on defence for me! 😉
Agreed that the dirth of decent options in midfield leaves the way open to spend a bit more at the back.Open Controls
Stoke rotate better with Villa - although their fixtures are not so good ...
Open Controls
Just did Nadal vs Del Potro to go to 5 sets @ 7/2 & Andy Murray to win the 1st set 7/5 @ 13/1
Open ControlsDon't fancy Nadal going 5 sets personally but then you were right about the U21!
Can see Nadal winning the first 2 on tie breaks againOpen Controls
I'm playing Tetris online in work. That's how productive this day is.
Open ControlsAny Liverpool lads on here?
Open ControlsAfternoon 🙂
Open ControlsHi, LL - what's the story with Kelly? Any news, insight? 🙂
Open ControlsStory? I haven't heard of anything.
Or do you mean about him in the starting line up?
His favoured position is CB and although he was great at RB last season, his long term future probably lies in the centre.
I would guess Glen would switch back to RB next season, with the new LB (please god let there be a new LB) obviously on the left.
-Glen-Carra-Agger-LB would be what I would of thought for the season ahead.
But Kelly never actually lost his first team place at RB, so he could be given a chance there in august.
No help to you then 😀Open ControlsWhat, no Skrtl?
Open Controls
A player who has bought in a steady stream of points then suffers injury for a significant period of the season, is this reflected in next seasons opening price? (lower).
Have any precedents been set about which end of the season a player is injured affecting their opening price the following season? Example RVP (early last season) & Kelly (end of last season)?
Do any discernible logical patterns exist whatsoever? Or do FLP Towers just fudge it as they go along???
Apologies that's all sloppily written but I've got a hangover.Open ControlsThank god, True Blood returned (Well, Game of Thrones was excellent too). Please make the summers better!!!
Open ControlsBang 'The Borgias' on your viewing list.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1582457/Open Controlsis this really good? I did not see after the pilot.
Open Controls
Thank god for HBO!
Open Controls
Playing away next season:
De Gea
Fabio Rio Vidic Evra
Martinez Fletcher
Thiago
Valencia Rooney Young
Serious team.
Home:
Swap 1 midfielder for Hernandez. Serious team mk II.Open ControlsI am still disappointed abt Young. Still think Nani is a superior version. Let's see who's the other midfielder that arrives at Old Trafford.
Open ControlsAshely Young provides attacking flair and defensive work rate, Nani provides the former but not the latter and wants to play on the right anyway.
Open Controls
Thiago already signed then? 😉
Open Controls
Re: Hernandez won't feature much in August, i'm not so sure. He's got a month off now until the 25th July, that gives him 3 weeks to get fit for the start of the season. Yeah, he might start as sub, but he doesn't strike me as the sort of character to let it all hang out for the next 4 weeks anyway. Hernandez, RvP, Suarez forward line?
Open ControlsConsidering you are very good at this game, that's worrying.
Open ControlsBent, Tevez, Suarez?
Open Controlsmight come back to haunt me but as good as rvp's form is for example i still think playing the fixtures works best, rvp in gwk4 for me
Open Controls
I guess Hernandez is nailed down first choice now?
But the Young transfer makes me think SAF could push Rooney up sometimes, play Young behind him and Nani on the left?Open Controls
what are peoples opinions on the defence for the up coming season?
i've figured out my gk combo (AVL/STK) roatate well all season and barring injuries it would be one area where i wouldn't need to waste transfers.
Baines is obviously the 1st pick after last season but i'm not sure whether i should go with low-mid pirices for the rest or a mixture of decent and cheap options.Open ControlsARS/TOT also ...
Open ControlsGood shout thats a possibility for defnce then, i'm thinking AVL/STK will be cheaper for the gk options. Just looking at the season ticker and you can mix and match with Man u, che and liv too. Just trying to get the right formla.
Last season my defence was horrid all season and i lost so many points in transfers trying to sort it. This year i'm in a money league so i mean business!Open ControlsMy defence destroyed me before week 10 - not doing that again!
Hoping that Szczesny remains cheap, and that Arsene doesn't have another brainstorm. Rotation options seem awful this season ... ðŸ™Open Controls
blackburn stoke from gwk 12 is perfect until the jan wildcard
Open Controlstosey - you doing that directferries league again?
Open Controlsyeh guna try n get in straight away if they run it again, hoping to find a few more leagues with prizes too
Open ControlsWould you give me a heads-up? 🙂
Open ControlsMe too on any prize leagues Tosey and I'll do the same. I may even pay for a few. 🙂 I'm also doing the Texaco championship league, though when I join they may change name to chumpionship.

You was on this site all last season and you didn't know that??

Oh awesome! I just bought the best lightgun ever! I've wanted it for years, but it was £100+ when it was released.
It's like a gun-con from Time Crisis/Point Blank, but unlike the other home Gun-Cons, this one features recoil and a foot pedal!Open ControlsI know it is early yet but...What are people's plans for Chelsea attacking coverage this year? Particularly needed as they have another good start to the season fixtures wise. I think this is a difficult one compared to other teams.
Torres - fingers burnt too many times before?
Drogba / any other striker they have or buy: how often will they play?
Lampard - the obvious choice (?) but always seems overpriced in FPL and you have to structure the rest of your team around getting him in
Malouda - poor 2nd half of the season and will he play regularly?
Anyone else?Open ControlsModric
Open ControlsI realise you are partly tongue-in-cheek but I am not overly convinced with Modric for FF wherever he ends up. A bit too deep lying, a bit too "assist the assist" type player and a bit too reliant on bonus points. Obviously depends how expensive he is. I think most people only saw him as an option when VDV went off the boil last year.
Open ControlsOnly Charlie Adam had more boners than him...Now if he can just score more goals.
Open ControlsIf Lampard is the ridiculous £13mil again I shall avoid him like the plague,I'm sure there will be better value in two very good players around £17mil together than Frank and a £4mil someone.
Open Controls
Anyone think there might be some "value" in blackburn defence this year? They always seem to be ok-ish at home and Robbo or a defender at 4.5m might be a good shout.
Other than Samba/Nelsen any other options? Was Olson an OOP?Open ControlsRobinson is normally always decent value for money
Open ControlsI know, and defenders? I'm just thinking it might be better to get 4.5m defenders from wolves/wba/blackB/sun/wigan(!)/newc than getting the most exp defenders from the newly promoted sides.
Open ControlsMaybe, although none (bar Samba who's likely off) offer any attacking threat. Olsson will probably be a midfielder again next season. Other options are Givet, Nelsen or Salgado. Not much to choose from there unless we buy someone. Possible we could end up with one of the Birmingham lot, maybe Ridgewell?
Open ControlsActually that's not true, Nelsen did pretty well last season. Not sure he will replicated it though tbh
Open Controls
Good value last year for sure, sixth highest keeper score. I think.

Open ControlsIf Mata joins Arsenal, surely he wont cost 10.0 in the fantasy game to start off like he did in the U21s?
Open ControlsThe two games (many ifs anyway) would have preciesly no relevance to each other. Whole different kettle of fish.
Wasn't Sturridge something like £8m? He's not going to be that either, for example.Open ControlsGood point made, cheers anyway 🙂
Open Controls
in a word: no
Open Controls
Latest on Fabregas:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/13928823.stmOpen ControlsI just can't see Barce offering anymore than £33mil...your thoughts?
Open ControlsI honestly don't have the footie knowledge to discuss these matters, I'm still a newb, but I am really interested in the developments. Would he get straight into the Barca starting 11 if he did join?
Open ControlsHave they offered £ or Euros. I think they'll offer a bit more btu not much and a deal will be done.
Open Controls
5-1.
Open Controls
The sooner fabregas goes the better, its getting boring now...
Open ControlsThere always has to be one dramatic transfer that keeps giving the media something to write about.
Open ControlsThis Fabs news are making me wanna puke really. If Barsa wants him let them pay, they want him but for no money. Even Henderson is 20 m. And for Cesc let him be my guest he is gonna be second most expensive sub after Kaka. We all know what happened with Flamini, Hleb, Adebayor and even Henry when they left Arsenal. U can not understand this kids anymore. I believe Cesc had a bad season on purpose in order his price to be lower.
If I was Arsenal fan I would want him to leave, nobody is irreplaceable, Man utd are again champions and they sold CR7 and they were so reliant on him. Screw Cesc let him go and be substitute. Be my guest Cesc.
P.S. He'll be on the bench when he won't be injured....Open ControlsI can imagine the double in salary will make that bench pretty comfortable for him. Although if xavi was to leave...
Open ControlsThere is some point of time when the money is irrelevant. What can u buy with 70 m that u can't buy for 55m?
Remember the Ade statement that now he is not interested in money and went to play for Real for 1m? And imagine if he stayed in Arsenal?Open ControlsEven if Xavi doesn't leave Fabregas will gradually be phased in. Plus Barca play loads of football, he'll still get plenty of minutes next season and all it takes is an injury to make him a first XI player again
Open ControlsYeah like he had minutes for Spain. He must understand if he stayed in Barsa he could be some average player loaned in Valladolid in example. Arsen made him IMO. Look Krkic he is leaving Barsa.
Open ControlsThats a very poor comment.
Open ControlsU think DB, but I think loyalty is something not known to the players and Cesc too.
Open ControlsYes, I just think you cant say Fabregas would have failed if he were still at Barcelona.
Its hard to compare different player in different environments.
Besides Fabregas is going home. His loyalty to that region outweighs Arsenal.
Whats more I think it may be good for both parties in longterm if he goes.
Others will step up and he tended to slow their play a tad too much last year.Open ControlsOK DB I agree I vote for him to leave also.
Open ControlsBojan and Geovani were both vastly overhyped by Barcelona but when it comes to that club people will swallow anything. I rember in 2007 they came to Scotland pre season and the papers were full of how these two were going to be better than Messi and Ronaldinho because Barcelona said they would be. Geovani was booted shortly after and has spent much of the time since being ignored by managers such as Roy Keane and 'arry. They rate Bojan so highly they hardly played him and then sold him to Roma.
Barcelona were also praised for spending pre-season in a place like Scotland and not going on a big bucks tour of the States or the Far East like " moneybags Chelsea or Real Madrid". What nobody seemed to know or bother to find out was that as soon as Barcelona had completed their glorified training sessions against Dundee Utd and Hearts they were off on a tour of China and Japan.
The hype, self adulation and blind praise of Barcelona never ceases to amaze me.Open Controls"The hype, self adulation and blind praise of Barcelona never ceases to amaze me."
Fishing much?
We werent even talking Barcelona.
Besides the method they play football helps with their adulation id imagine.
Right im out of here.Open Controls
What does that have to do with anything?
Open Controls
Henderson, is a Brit, as real European negotiations go, these players are disregarded when factoring negotiation precedent, euro epl player-to-european team will be factored only.
Might I just say that the signing people should really have their eyes on is the Ricardo Alvarez signing. This will be the impact player that will force Barca's hand to pay what Arsenal asks or risk leaving Arsenal with a ridiculous team. Figure it out people Mata and Ricardo Alvarez speak Spanish, not French, Arsene is finally getting the picture on how to keep Spanish speaking players. This and the Mata signing should worry La Liga/Champions League qualifiers.Open ControlsUnless Maurizio is just playing the classic Italian lament rope-a-dope:
http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2011/06/24/2546181/ricardo-alvarez-has-already-signed-for-arsenal-palermo-president-
Somehow this clown at Palermo thought they had a chance at Alvarez. He's been on my radar for a minute, and I've always said they needed more Argentinian signings, they tend to not get caught up in the 'walk it in the goal' tendencies that the Gunner's have been plagued with currently.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Us0IvCKFTEOpen Controls
I believe Cesc had a bad season on purpose in order his price to be lower.
i'll just leave this hereOpen ControlsTo make himself less desirable to barca or Arsenal though? Both motivations could be argued no?
Open ControlsAP I stand by my statement really. He only wan it to play the CC final really.
Open Controlsso he purposely kept pulling his hamstring and when he was on the pitch purposely tried not to play his best. outrageous
Open ControlsArsenal fan obviously. Ok.
Open Controlsnot at all, just refuse to believe any professional athlete who isn't match fixing is purposely trying to have a bad season?????
and if fabregas wants to go good on him. 8 years he's been at arsenal, the look on his face everytime he gets injured shows what it means to him, he's devastated he can't help the teamOpen ControlsFor what it's worth I don't be lieve that bu!!5hit either, he was simply over extended from the past summer. See Torres as well. It just appears that Spanish teams are better at getting their players recovered properly. The warm weather doesn't hurt either...
