Carlos Tevez has tonight stressed his desire to leave Manchester City.

The Daily Mail reports that the City skipper has poured his heart out to City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak and concluded that his future must lie away from the club for the good of his family.

“It is with great regret that I have to inform Manchester City of my wish to leave the club. I would like to state that I have great respect for the club, its supporters and the owner, Sheik Mansoor, who has been nothing other than respectful to me…I hope that the people understand the difficult circumstances I have been living under the past 12 months, in regards to my family.”

On the day that City made their first move of the summer in the transfer market by sealing the capture of Gael Clichy from Arsenal, this latest development in the ongoing Tevez saga will rock the club and potentially disrupt City’s plans for further acquisition in the next month.

Just over a week ago Roberto Mancini offered reassurance on the future of his skipper following speculation linking him to a move to Inter Milan in a potential swap deal with Samuel Eto’o. No such move materialised and Tevez looked set for another campaign at Eastlands. Tonight’s reports and quotes from Tevez now firmly shroud his future in uncertainty once again.

“I hope I have done my bit to help City continue their progress towards their ambition to be champions of England and to advance in the Champions League. I have no doubt that the players and management of City will achieve great success in the future.”

There is little doubt that Tevez has been fundamental to City’s success. Joint leading scorer in the Premier League last season, Tevez has been a revelation, despite constant doubts over his future at the club and in England.

It seems certain that Tevez will now step up his desire to earn a transfer to a Spanish or Italian club and that Mancini must look to salvage all he can from such a deal. Replacing Tevez will be a huge task and will now open up a circus of speculation surrounding would-be replacements.

Us Fantasy Managers will need to sift through such uncertainty and look destined to be crossing Tevez from our pre-season watchlists. With Cesc Fabregas looking set for a move to Spain, we now face the prospect of losing two hugely influential and supremely gifted players from our league and our player lists.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hope tevez fab and nasri all leave the epl makes fpl more exciting. As for this Hazard fella of course he would go to Spain: better quality of football, better weather, and more importantly far less of his wages taxed.

        Could also create a better Premier league - Less of a gulf between the teams at the top and bottom, more competitivness. It's sometimes nice to see Chelsea beat every team 6-0. But seeing a 'small' team triumph over one of the bigger teams gives me much greater viewing plesure.

      I agree with the idea that less star players makes for a better FPL. It takes the edge off the competition when your mini league players all wind up with the same players. That's why i would quite like to join a minileague that has a price limit on the players you can buy - i reckon it'd be more exciting, with most people ending up with different captain choices.

      This is apposed to getting no satisfaction out of Tevez scoring 50 captained points when every lonely man and his dog also has the same 50 points.

        I agree entirely with you saintjimmy.I also feel the second wildcard has not helped the fpl to be as exciting as previous years. Everyone will have a similar team by week 8.
        Its like you dont have to work at it to get a decent fpl team any-more. Plus last year was one of the most open epls in years. Yet the fpl became predictable far quicker then other years.
        Personally I would like to get rid of both wildcards but that is like asking uefa to bring back knock-out champions league for league winners only...

    suarez plays like he's a striker on PES 3 being controlled by me. always sprints, very direct, and when his head is down and he's sprinting he can't trun more than a bit at a time so has to sprint in a curve around the last man.

      City better sort this nonsense out though, they strikers they have are unreliable and temperamental.

    spurs' hellish start to the campaign notwithstanding, what do we think will happen at right back?

    walker's just signed a contract extension....you think we'll see him slot in at right back and put an end to the hutton/kaboul nightmare? or *was* it a nightmare? spurs website says that a combination of injury and the "form of hutton and kaboul" kept corluka out of the starting lineup at his natural right back position.

    so, it's:

    walker/corluka/dawson/assou-ekotto ?
    walker/corluka/dawson/bale (seems unlikely, but thinking about it bale made a pretty significant impact when picking up steam coming out of the back rather than from a wing position...possibly true?)
    what about kyle naughton? seemed to do quite well last season in npower, and is now 23 y/o.

    any spurs fans about? have input?

        well, spurs' first match in a good run of fixtures starts in GW10, only manu and liverpool start their run later. according to FFS, of course. and i believe FFS' description of the start of the season for spurs was "nightmarish".

        neither here nor there, though, for the purposes of the discussion at hand.

      Not really sure where you'd get that line up from...

      Best back four in a tough game would be Corluka/King/Dawson/BAE

      If we were really going for it then I'd assume Walker would get the nod as he's better offensively. Meanwhile Gallas covers for Kings knee, Rose is being lined up to replace Bae if needed and we've then got Bassong, Kaboul and Hutton who can do jobs for us if needed... although it wouldn't be the worse thing if we at least managed to offload Hutton.

        Champ. You thinking of going down the cheap mids, expensive forwards and defs road too then? Will have to see when prices come out how it would work! But should be plenty of mid price midfield options who should score nicely!

          Think so mate. Should plenty of value in the mids. Probably torres and suarez/roon/chico up front with holt or zamora the third forward. That way I can bring rvp or another top fwd in with a straight swap no messing about.

          there was a discussion of this issue a few threads back...

          i am also considering the expensive DEF/FWD with cheaper mids, as i feel like midfield options are depressed a bit this year over last.

          the counterpoint that someone raised with me was the increased production by mids (5 ppg over 4 for fwds), and that, generally, while we're in our speculative phase before FPL towers open for business, less traditional budget allocations are common but ultimately go back to the norm (GK $ DEF $$ MID $$$ FWD $$ (i'm on a U.S. keyboard so pound signs aren't readily available)). i think the other disadvantage to a cheapo midfield is the problems you'd have with swapping for more expensive players.

          still, i'm not convinced i'll abandon the cheap midfield. thinking there's no reason to go over 8.5m for any mid player, especially given where the big guns are (nani, valencia and young all rotating; cesc gone (?), nasri unsettled, malouda possibly limited by an unsettled attacking lineup at the bridge; and so on and so forth). just rambling at this point.

            Yeah its tough to see which of the big guns in midfield will be worth it! The usual suspects, Gerrard, Fabregas, Lampard we can all be uncertain about! it is true that mids score more than forwards or defenders. But the cheap mids might score more than the expensive ones if you get the right ones, that is the hard part 😉

            Last season I started with cheap defenders, 5 top mids and one top forward while rotating the 2 cheap forwards and it worked.... for a while!

            I think as always ths best option is one expensive in each position, that will always play, then fill in the gaps. It's always an advantage if you can bring in anyone with one transfer
            This year it will be 1 of
            Baines/Cole
            Malouda/Gerrard/
            Torres/Rooney/
            Then prob a 9-10 mid and striker and then cheaper rotaters

                champ is right. It went down to the wire. Doubts still lingered over Drogba's fitness and then Lamps became a doubt. I took the wrong option, Lamps and Rooney over Drog and Malouda.

                However, the best 4 pt I ever spent was gwk 2 getting drog and malouda in...worked out I was 30 pts up on the deal.

                that proved to me that 4pt hits can work.

      You'd think they could at least compromise and settle somewhere in Europe so that there's just a 2hr flight...

    With a probable price of around 40 Mil and a wage bill of 200,000 a week who will be able to afford Tevez? Inter are already saying they can't: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13871913.stm

        +1 to that.

        About a year ago, I think it was, the comments changed to a like (sort of) system, and people even had scores and I thought it was, well, a bit shit really.

        Someone says something nice about Man Utd, all the Man Utd fans 'like', and rivals 'dislike'. Etc. for all clubs.

      That'd be good as long as there wasn't a dislike button to go with it.

        There's a system I quite like on Joystiq and Engadget where you can upvote comments or downvote them.

        When you downvote them, they appear in grey making it less noticable until it gets downvoted to oblivion, where you have to click to expand it to read.

          I agree with bubbles above. This is a site on opinion and people may be a bit bias toward their own club Man U being an ideal example.

          I am happy with the status quo.

            I'm not biased. But I did read something I thought was absolutely hilarious yesterday... Any Stoke fans here?

          I don't like the sound of that at all really.

          As I said above with the clubs rivalries.

          Also, (it may be quite rare on this site 😉 ) I quite like reading what DBRonaldo has to say. I think he's quite an entertaining poster, but you know a few people would just 'downvote' ANYTHING he posts as he seems to annoy quite a few on here.

    Falcao would be a good replacement for Tevez with a release clause at 26m. Other options I could see happening are swap deals for Drogba or Higuain (plus cash to City). I could also see Ibra going as Mankini loves him!

      Ibra = No

      Drogba = No

      Falcao = maybe/unproven

      Higuain = maybe/unproven

      How about RVP?

        RVP wouldn't go to City. Not this season anyway, who knows in the future.

        Aguero is probably the most likely. Do they need to replace him with a world class striker? They have Dzeko and Balotelli who could step up.

          That would be the end of Arsenal if RVP went! I think they need someone to lead the line on their own so Aguero wouldnt be a good option! Dzeko is the perfect fit if he can turn out to be any good! I was caddying for Jamie Redknapp at the weekend and he said Chelsea were willing to use Drogba as part of a deal for Modric so could see him being used as bait for Tevez also!

            I think Dzeko could become a good player for them. But if they bring someone in, Cavani would be great.
