QPR have this afternoon announced that Adel Taarabt will not be leaving the club this summer.

In an official statement posted “on behalf of majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore”, Rangers announced that Taarabt will not be sold, despite the club receiving bids for his services…

“We rebuffed all approaches and indeed, we are keen to build for the future in the Barclays Premier League, and not sell one of our prized assets… Taarabt is fully committed to the Club and is looking forward to proving his undoubted star quality for QPR in the Barclays Premier League.”

This will come as a major relief for all connected to the club but is also hugely significant news for Fantasy Managers.

Taarabt has long been earmarked as QPR’s key Fantasy asset going into the season. Our recent Scout Report article goes into depth on his potential this term – soak that up for the full details. In a nutshell however, Taarabt arrives in the top flight off the back of a season where he claimed 19 goals and 16 assists in his 43 starts. His importance the QPR’s survival chances is undoubted – his potential for Fantasy returns unquestionable.

Snuggled in the mid-price bracket (6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League) across the various games, this news will restore confidence amongst Fantasy Managers and surely see Taarabt arrive in many squads prior to Gameweek one. The fact that QPR are also blessed with a kind baptism back in the Premier League in terms of early opponents will only compound the Moroccan’s popularity.

  Stoke's opening fixtures are a bit stinky so I'd personally wait before bringing in Etherington, and there are *some* doubts over Luiz starting. Also, I'm of the opinion that Westwood will be Sunderland's number 1.

      Sessegnon, although fixtures aren't that great, Albrighton if you don't mind doubling up on AVL (fixtures are good at the start though). Same goes for Duff. Maybe Ben Arfa if he recovers from his latest injury for the start of the season.

Welbeck has played well i thought.
Cleverley not so much, has been a little sloppy.
Diouf and Obertan just not good enough.
De Gea made a great save just at the end.

Kingdom of Heaven might be a load of crap, but Eva Green is a damned foxy princess.

Anyhoo 80% there with my team. The only new signings that would make me change it drastically would be Modric or another creative mid to Chelsea and possibly Aguero to Man City.

Other than that pretty happy with it.

        I do, he's a real confidence player. I'll keep an eye on his involvement pre-season (same for Dunne too). If they're going to be played regularly they could be solid picks.

  Should be a starter. I think he will get the nod above Williamson. Coloccini is a safer bet though. Nailed on, slightly less likely to score goals but more likely to get BP.
  Simpson also well priced at 4.

Finding it quite interesting this year that so many of us have different 'big' players, the likes of Lampard, Tevez, Van Persie etc. All the captaincy options basically....

None of them actually stick out as must haves because of lots of different reasons, at the moment I have Lampard and Rooney as my two expensive players.

  Yeah I like it. Last season was really generic so it was hard to gain ground on people as they had 90% identical teams. This time its really diverse.

    Yeah last year it was stupid, it was just basically 2 of Drogba, Rooney and Lampard. Nobody considered Tevez because of fixtures or Van Persie & Fabregas because of the World Cup.
    
    I'm finding it really hard to work out who I really want this year if I'm honest. I think as long as you have a Chelsea player you can comfortably captain GW2 & GW3 you will be fine though.

Just outside the RFK Stadium on my way to see the DC United v Everton game. Anyone been to a sporting event in the US? The amount of cars out here is rediculous. Don't Americans walk anywhere?
