QPR Hold Onto Taarabt

QPR have this afternoon announced that Adel Taarabt will not be leaving the club this summer.

In an official statement posted “on behalf of majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore”, Rangers announced that Taarabt will not be sold, despite the club receiving bids for his services…

“We rebuffed all approaches and indeed, we are keen to build for the future in the Barclays Premier League, and not sell one of our prized assets… Taarabt is fully committed to the Club and is looking forward to proving his undoubted star quality for QPR in the Barclays Premier League.”

This will come as a major relief for all connected to the club but is also hugely significant news for Fantasy Managers.

Taarabt has long been earmarked as QPR’s key Fantasy asset going into the season. Our recent Scout Report article goes into depth on his potential this term – soak that up for the full details. In a nutshell however, Taarabt arrives in the top flight off the back of a season where he claimed 19 goals and 16 assists in his 43 starts. His importance the QPR’s survival chances is undoubted – his potential for Fantasy returns unquestionable.

Snuggled in the mid-price bracket (6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League) across the various games, this news will restore confidence amongst Fantasy Managers and surely see Taarabt arrive in many squads prior to Gameweek one. The fact that QPR are also blessed with a kind baptism back in the Premier League in terms of early opponents will only compound the Moroccan’s popularity.

      Yeah and im not worried to be honest. Their fixtures both suck and at this point all we have to go on is the fixtures.

        I must say I think not picking top mids and forwards from the top 4-5 teams based on a poor run of fixtures is overrated as a policy. The best get points no matter what. The policy is a good 1 for the basement bargains and cellar dwellers of the league. I think Rooney will get a hat-full despite ManU's start. I feel the same about VDV.

      Like the look of that in general. Not sure about having two such expensive defenders though, maybe pick one and downgrade the other by 1.5-2 ish? Also maybe pick one of your Wigan players.

        yeh i accept, but i reckon cole has great fixtures and baines is fixutre proof - they are assured of starts and are safe to hold for the entire season
        and i reckon wigan has a great start so don't mind the 2 wigan players, thx for ur advice, any othe sugestions?

          Fair enough with the defenders. Different people have different theories about which positions to invest in but if you spread it out a bit you might find it a bit easier to adapt when other players grab your eye!
          Wigan do have good fixtures but they are horribly inconsistent. Eg last year they arguably couldn't have had a better opening fixture than at home to Blackpool and lost 4-0. If they have an off day and draw a blank I'd rather spread my options a bit, I personally think if they DO do well then N'Zogbia will be plenty. You may have a point though!

      rafael's position is not guaranteed and manu don't have the best fixture to start - get a fulham defender instead
      downing could go ok, but so much uncertainty with liverpool's bunch of midfield guns
      no offensive chelsea coverage?

        Rafael has started most of the pre-season games at RB. Smalling seemed to start the last 1 vs chicago fire, but was subbed for Rafael on about 70 min. I don't see too many others competing here. No o'shea, brown etc. I think he may well be a cheap way into the manu defence but watch rest of pre-season and charity shield.

        Tried to go Villa heavy to start for kind fixtres, will switch bent to Hernandez after 9 gameweeks more than likely. Happy with Ba, Tiote there for cheap option guranteed to start (when not suspended!). Just feel I may be lacking some ManU(None), Chelsea(1), Arsenal(1), Mancity(2) cover?
