QPR have this afternoon announced that Adel Taarabt will not be leaving the club this summer.

In an official statement posted “on behalf of majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatoreâ€, Rangers announced that Taarabt will not be sold, despite the club receiving bids for his services…

“We rebuffed all approaches and indeed, we are keen to build for the future in the Barclays Premier League, and not sell one of our prized assets… Taarabt is fully committed to the Club and is looking forward to proving his undoubted star quality for QPR in the Barclays Premier League.â€

This will come as a major relief for all connected to the club but is also hugely significant news for Fantasy Managers.

Taarabt has long been earmarked as QPR’s key Fantasy asset going into the season. Our recent Scout Report article goes into depth on his potential this term – soak that up for the full details. In a nutshell however, Taarabt arrives in the top flight off the back of a season where he claimed 19 goals and 16 assists in his 43 starts. His importance the QPR’s survival chances is undoubted – his potential for Fantasy returns unquestionable.

Snuggled in the mid-price bracket (6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League) across the various games, this news will restore confidence amongst Fantasy Managers and surely see Taarabt arrive in many squads prior to Gameweek one. The fact that QPR are also blessed with a kind baptism back in the Premier League in terms of early opponents will only compound the Moroccan’s popularity.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Any comments /advice that can be given for my team?

    Hart (De Vries)
Kompany, Baines, A Cole (Simpson, Wikinson)
    Downing, N'Zogbia, Barton, Murphy (Tchoyi)
    Zamora, Rodallega, Van Persie

I'm usually loathe to captain a striker or defender as you need to count on a goal or clean sheet, so the likes of Nani and Dempsey were my 'go to' guys last season... With that midfield I think I'm light on captaincy prospects?

too much money wasted on defense, you have two of the most expensive ones and another one up there- downgrade either baines or cole and use that towards mf.

Riise is guaranteed left-back, Briggs' best position. We are without a right back due to losing Pantsil. But, assuming we don't buy an actual right back, I think Baird is more likely to start there. Even Aaron Hughes is a possibility with Senderos coming in at CB. Briggs played in front of Riise on Thursday night but Davies is injured, and Dembele and Dempsey weren't available.

He's not totally out of contention, but I wouldn't feel confident including him. He'll feature in Europe but only make the bench in the league.

I've seen more than enough of Downing, Adam and Henderson to know they aren't top 4 players.

Henderson has potential to be better than the other two (although how good, I'm not sure), but isn't there yet.

Fair comment, but place them in a different side, different system and they look like different players.
I don't actually rate Cissokho that highly neither, but Dalglish seems to get a lot out of his players.

    Captain (10+) Mid price (8.5) Budget (6.5) Budget (6.5) Rotate (6)

    Cost of team 9.5 + 26 + 37 + 28 = 100.5 close enough

question is what are the best choices for the 2 4.5 rotating defenders?

i currently have S Taylor nailed on for one of the slots, but struggling to find him a decent partner. I can put in Hughes to start, Fulham rotate resonably well with Newcastle and after week 7ish Stokes fixtures get better and rotate with Newcastle.

so im thinking STaylor + Hughes/Shawcross but obviously they are both 5mln. anyone found a better combo for cheaper?

Funny how all these RMT's appear to be gradually looking similar. After the Taarabt news and VDV looking like hes got his mojo, i went back to the drawing board and came up with:

    Given (Ruddy)

    Baines, Kompany, Rafael (Simpson, Orr)

    VDV, Nzogbia, Taarabt, Sinclair (Tiote)

    RVP, Carroll, Zamora

carrolls spot is really for suarez but i figure heading into week 1, i want to make sure ive got a starter and some pool coverage, having carroll makes the swap to suarez easy.

my bench is weak, not much upside there, im hoping i can build team value in the early weeks and upgrade to a nicer bench option.

no chelsea but id rather see how things shake out there first.

wheres everyone on baines? i feel like a top defender is a must. arteta out of friendly today. im hoping baines dominates set pieces again, should i think otherwise?

    Johhny 5 needs INPUT!!!!

      Hi FW,

OK...I personally wouldn't touch Carroll but I understand his standby role for Suarez, Darren Bent is well worth considering for the 10.0 role, he will literally be involved in any goal Villa score. I am considering Suarez for GW1 to Bent GW2.

I think having a weak bench is going to be the norm with the price increases, just ensure you have 90 minute men whatever their role in the team.

You simply have to get on some Chelsea, I would personally like to see Lampard in place of VDV if you can squeeze him in somehow.

I like Baines, if he has penalties he is a must have plain and simple, your effectively getting everton defensive and attacking cover in 1 player, worth the 8 I reckon.

      Hope that helps.

thanks it does help. i was thinking bent instead.

getting lamps in would be a challenge. a really good player somewhere else would need to be downgraded to a lesser option, and my bench is already as cheap as humanly possible.

        who would you sacrifice?

i feel like for one reason or another RVP, Zamora, Nzogbia, Taarabt, Sinclair, Baines and Kompany are solid buys. gotta cut 2 million from somewhere to go vdv->lamps.

did i mention my man love of VDV as well, clouding my judgement?

at last someone else who recognises the value in Nelson.

Cech and Given is a luxury, if you have cech then you will play him most weeks....better to get a 4.5 or 4m gk as back up. ruddy perhaps, De Vries if he looks like being no.1

Zamora may be a better bet than Odem for the first couple of weeks.

Other than that quite like it.

marveaux is a box-to-box midfielder. doubt if he will get in any assists or goals. then again, i haven't seen him play so can't say for sure.

anyone seen him play? any comments on him?

i put "insert midfielder for 5m here" inside the greater than, less than signs. i guess because of the HTML format this page works on, it edited the part.
anyway, that void is to be filled by some midfielder for 5m.

the missing MF is the player i still am to get in for 5m. any suggestions? i want to double up on chelsea defence for the first few weeks, so i thought cech + luiz sounds like a good option.

Also, because of the new bonus point system, i think luiz will attract bonus points because he's good offensively+defensively.

Will Gervinho get regular game time? There is a risk he might just get the odd 20 mins in some games.
It might be better to wait and see.

I think the intelligent thing to do is wait until the final pre-season games have been played and judge whether he's likely to be starting.

no. wenger would never spend 12m on a non-starter. he'll play 4-4-1-1 i feel with RVP and gervinho rotating as the two men up front. should be an interesting season after all..

by rotating i mean it's not going to be sure who will play striker and who will play support striker. both can play in either positions, and they are good at it. so they will interchange positions.

I'm toying with having Baines and Kompany as the heart of my defence. And I'm thinking about having a Wolves, QPR and Newcastle defender with them (say, Zubar, Orr and Simpson) to help free up cash.

Each week one of those players has a decent home game... so week one onwards...

BOL, FUL, FUL, NEW, QPR, AVL/BLA, NEW, BLA

Also, in week 6 when you have the choice of AVL/BLA Everton are away at Man City so you could drop Baines and play 2 cheapies. In week 8 Everton are at Chelsea so you could play a second cheapie (TOT or wba). So theere's options there.

So those 5 clubs could potentially go together well... and gives you the option of 2 4.0 and 1 4.5 defenders.

      Looks decent.

I wouldn't double up on Dunne and Given but if Mcleish gets them solid at the back it could work out.

I think Ferguson is injured and wouldn't be a starter. (if he's the Newcastle lad)

How much does that leave you with?

I would go with B TBH, Rooney will definitely be needed by United to score, which he most probably will do considering that the games against Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are at home. Albrighton looks to be a definite starter after the exodus from AV during the transfer window and Taarabt is looking to be QPRs main powerhouse this season

    Ba, Zamora, Rodallega
