QPR Hold Onto Taarabt

QPR have this afternoon announced that Adel Taarabt will not be leaving the club this summer.

In an official statement posted “on behalf of majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore”, Rangers announced that Taarabt will not be sold, despite the club receiving bids for his services…

“We rebuffed all approaches and indeed, we are keen to build for the future in the Barclays Premier League, and not sell one of our prized assets… Taarabt is fully committed to the Club and is looking forward to proving his undoubted star quality for QPR in the Barclays Premier League.”

This will come as a major relief for all connected to the club but is also hugely significant news for Fantasy Managers.

Taarabt has long been earmarked as QPR’s key Fantasy asset going into the season. Our recent Scout Report article goes into depth on his potential this term – soak that up for the full details. In a nutshell however, Taarabt arrives in the top flight off the back of a season where he claimed 19 goals and 16 assists in his 43 starts. His importance the QPR’s survival chances is undoubted – his potential for Fantasy returns unquestionable.

Snuggled in the mid-price bracket (6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League) across the various games, this news will restore confidence amongst Fantasy Managers and surely see Taarabt arrive in many squads prior to Gameweek one. The fact that QPR are also blessed with a kind baptism back in the Premier League in terms of early opponents will only compound the Moroccan’s popularity.

      Your defense is fine.

      I like the team on the whole, although I'm not a huge fan of Odemwingie. I think he's a touch overpriced now.

      Rooney and Lampard as captains, but will that be enough?

        Yeah I think it will be, at the start of the season I'd rather have a balanced team and just the two expensive players. I will probably get Suarez if he is ready for the first game, he would be a third option.

    Does anyone know if this is a new rule: 'In the event of a penalty or free-kick, the player earning the penalty or free-kick gets an assist if a goal is directly scored, but not if he takes it himself, in which case no assist is given.' I don't remember it from last year.
    If it is new, which players do you think will earn from it?

        The free-kick part of it is new.
        It'll make attacking skillful players slightly more valuable, as long as they're not free kick takers.

      That's the beauty of this year's prices... there will always be gaps in everyone's team that will have to be quickly filled once the seasin starts and form becomes apparent. I am liking this 🙂

      strikers are where the points are. last few seasons 6-8mln mids who dominate play for low/mid table sides have been as good as the big hitters.

      very difficult to get a lot of big hitters for the prices, seems many are being forced to go for the 6-6.5 bunch. The new EA bp system would suggest solid keeper and defenders in good teams winning a lot will do well

        doubling up on the chelsea defence for the early matches is a luxury i can afford only by investing so much in cech. given is quite cheap, and almost a necessary.

      Looks like a good team to me, and very similar to mine, although ive gone terry over a.cole, toure over silva and ive managed to fit in V.D.Vaart. Same front line as me though - dont change em! we're gna be laughing all the way to the bank with those 3 🙂

          I think ur only problem is gna be lack of captain options - last year i made sure i always had 3 "big hitters" and it worked well (ended up 3,000 in the world or something. So this year ive got V.D.Vaart, Suarez and V.Persie that i can rotate...

          Malouda seems the best Chelsea option at the moment, so maybe try and tweak the team a bit to get him in? For example, is Silva gonna do much more damage than Y.Toure you reckon (and hes 1.5 more expensive)

      although its a tough call, some attacking chelsea covers looks necessary for the open few GW's.

      Atm Lamps, albeit very expensive, appears to be the best option imo.

      Not sure about RVP for the opening 3 GWs either - although he has been gold when fit over the last few seasons it is important to remember that its a new season with unknown quantities and no guarantees.

        I am pretty set of RVP. I tried with Lamps with it ruins my midfield balance. It seems I may have to go Malouda and try and maybe fitting in Yaya too or leaving yaya if i want chelsea cover

        Got Lamps, may bring in Malouda for VDV after GW1.

        Although if the past two seasons are anything to go by, I'll be using my wildcard after GW1...

          Kalou is an option too. Even when he doesn't start he's often amongst the late goals.

      Im a Tigers supporter and we have an established and motivated quality Championship team playing at home against a team with new players and still evolving. No surprise City got a result just surprising how poor Pool were.

        Like it. Understand why you have Rodllegga but he blows so hot and cold especially if they put him out on the wing. Ba instead maybe? Overall though it looks really good.
