Saturday brought a whole raft of pre-season friendlies with many of the Premier League top guns stretching sinews.

Gervinho’s brace on his Arsenal debut offered an early warning sign to the chaos he can cause defences – enough to have Arsene Wenger purring in post-match anticipation. Fantasy Managers will be stroking chins, pondering the merits of the Ivorian, perturbed no doubt by his classification as a Fantasy forward.

United overcame the heat to earn another stateside victory over Chicago Fire – Wayne Rooney again on the scoresheet. Liverpool meanwhile, slipped to a surprising reversal on Humberside, Nigel Pearson’s Hull City humbling the Liverpool revolution despite debuts for Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson.

Rafael Van der Vaart’s abilities and Fantasy potential is undoubted; his brace in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Orlando Pirates will surely have him blink brighter on our pre-season radars. Enough to cause an initial squad overhaul? Tottenham’s early fixtures cause concern but the Van der Vaart pre-season form may yet force a rethink.

There were plenty of other sides in action, including Everton, Sunderland, Norwich and Swansea. With an array of friendly matches pouring in today, it pays to keep up to date with the pre-season trends.

Our pre-season form guide is up to date with all yesterday’s action, scorers and team lineups.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

bent’s a sound choice…look at wk 2 and the coming game weeks and you will want him back pretty sharpish if you decide to look elsewhere.

Nani is far from a Jesus figure (nailed on). That could be a massive waste of money. Perhaps consider shifting more cash up front and beefing up attacking options.

Perhaps Bent – Rod and Ba or Bent – Zamora – Rod. Graham is hugely unproven…big risk getting him in. Consider RVP and another mid, instead of walcott and graham perhaps?

“Deadlines are going to be tighter this year, so you’ll need to be quick as entry for these closes just a couple of weeks away at midnight (GMT) on Friday July 29 – a week today. All valid entries will then be put into a (hypothetical) pot, with 44 drawn at random and assigned to a league based on their final ranking from last season”

Means Only 44 will be lucky to get in

need to put subs in as well mate.

My instinct is that with that line up your subs are total dirt.

My first thought is also that A Cole Evra and Kompany is a little too much luxury...I'd switch Evra out for a cheapy and use the extra money to beef up your subs.

      And Orr...surely there's better.

mm subs arnt pretty...but my reasoning with Evra is he is my differntial component...and for 7.0 guaranteed starter for Man Utd im heaps keen..i recon he's undervalued at 7.0 caus the season prior he got 7 assists and 7bp. BUT if Rafael seems to have claimed the RB spot instant switch Evra to Rafael AND Ferguson to Tchoi/B.Arfa. At the moment subs: D.Vries,Graham, Simpson, Ferguson

what are the other two subs and other gk? Or is this a new type of slow release RMT in stages?

Re Graham - be warned the premiership is littered with good championship strikers who failed to convert to the higher level. I'd wait and see with him...if he turns out to be a natural Prem goalscorer get him in after a week or two.

I'm confused. I rate that rate my team badly.

Just start again with the 15 players all listed and then you will get some sensible replies.

My instinct is that your subs are really bad and Evra out would free up a .5 m here and there to improve.

Simpson should be good though, although Ryan Taylor is pushing to oust him.

    Hughes Kompany Skrtel (Simpson WIlkinson)
    Yaya Malouda VdV Taraabt (Sinclair)
    Bent Holt Suarez

Any flaws or not a bad starter?

I really like that team. Good balance. Only worry is malouda and if he will get a lot of game time but apart from that all good

Looks OK. I would be tempted to downgrade Skrtel and get Silva for YaYa - does that work or is my maths out?

Thanks - I Had this dilemma last year but I cant see what SIlva offers over Yaya. Like having Wilshere in, regular starter but never seems to harvest the points for the price.

He'll certainly be worth having if he's 4. I doubt he'll be quite as useful as Walker was - he had real license to get forward at Villa.

Yaya V Silva is beginning to do my head in. I'm leaning towards Yaya because of the Ea Spotrs index and his price. Thoughts?

One of those very good players, you'd like him in your real life team but does little for the FF manager. Barton etc in this category too.

Yaya for me.had the same problem but yaya is more likely to get points in the tough away matches against bolton and spurs at the beginning, because of his bursting runs towards the box and his ability to win the ball in the middle if mancini decides to defend

Just wondering why nobody is going for Lescott. Isn't he more of a goal threat than Kompany? or am i missing something? (not seen much footy news lately)

i guess they think kompany is more likely to start every game but i think lescott is fairly certain unless they sign another centre back.

For what it's worth, i've got both in my team! Bargains imo

    Lads hope u's can help..

When I set up my fantasy team I registered a new email address instead of logging on under my old email address and changing details on account settings. Because I signed up from scratch I don't have my history from previous seasons.

How do I delete my profile/team as I will sign up under old email and change accordingly?
I can't see a way on the webside to delete my account at all.

It does it for you, just click on the yellow box under the players shirt that you want to put on the bench then click on the yellow box of the player on the bench you want to put into your 11. It will rearrange the formation for you. You can also drag the shirt if you want.

Baines, Lampard AND RVP really wallops the wallet. I'd be tempted to drop Baines and/or Lamps and beef up elsewhere.

Zamora I'm not convinced on, perhaps another top notch striker with the money you save? Also, not sure on Orr even tho a sub. Rest sound as a pound.

Looks good but I wouldn't go for 4 midpriced midfielders and just one expensive one, try to get someone around the 8-10m mark if you can. I personally wouldn't want O'Hara aswell as three players who just got promoted, get another player from a top 6 team if you can.

Cheers - have focussed on fixtures primarily and pen takers. There aren't many mids in the 8-10 range that I fancy also.

If Baines is on pens then I think 8m is decent value, especially given his fixtures. Other strikers I'd be keen on are Bent, Suarez and Rooney, although the latter has awful fixtures.

Lampard is attacking Chelsea coverage. City's don't really appeal.

i know united have tough fixtures but i think valencia is good value at 8 million. Surely he's a lot more of an attacking threat than yaya toure at the same price.

Indeed, if he is nailed on that right wing then get him, but Nani could play there and may take his place.

seems like when he's fit, fergie loves valencia. If anything it was nani losing his place or moving out to the left last season.

Valencia was injured for a big chunk of last season. I agree though that he is not worth the money. Can score big for a while, but will be 1-2 pts most weeks.

He does have a habit of going on scoring runs, so get him quick if he starts scoring and ship him out quick when he doesn't.

Valencia assist, rooney goal is a familiar tale to Man Utd...I'll be looking out for him Jan-March time ( the merry months of Man Utd)

I'd personally go for someone other than Huth for first 6 fixtures. 3 hard games, but they are at home.
Would rather have Downing than Yaya.
      Decent looking team though.
