New boy Darren Pratley stakes his claim for a mid-price starting berth in the Bolton midfield with his second goal in three games for Owen Coyle’s side. Victor Moses warms to the N’Zogbia wing role. Mario Balotelli enrages Roberto Mancini with an impudent back-heel when clean through on goal and is substituted straight away.

With just three weeks to go, we’re beginning to get some handy pointers with would-be first choice players now starting to earn more pitch time and formations perhaps resembling those on show on August 13.

      I guess that was one thing missing from the 3 jacket potatoes I ate yesterday.

      I'd forgotten how excellent they are. 2 hours on gas mark 5, rubbed down with oil and sea salt, then a big slice of butter, some chunks of corned beef and mature cheddar, and back in the oven till it all melts. Yowzer.

      I can't believe corned beef was so expensive though. £2 for own-brand! Don't remember it beeing that much!

      Mmm...we couldn't disagree more right now. His projection is looking very favourable. Norwich are an attacking side, Holt is skipper and last season he supplied goals and assists, plus he's on pens. He won't go crazy but he looks very strong value. The only slight doubt is whether he'll hold his start should Morison come good.

                  Yeah he's pushing 30 and never played in the prem. Every step up though he still scores and assists a shedload. If dj Campbell can do it so can holt. Tbh I think he'll be this seasons Campbell and norwich this seasons blackpool. They'll go balls out attacking so he'll get plenty of chances. Pens too.

    3m in the bank.

    I know about VDV’s tough open to the season, but he’s the only high priced MF that doesn’t have to worry about a rotation. I suppose Lampard would be an option but I don’t think he is worth 12m. I also know Saurez could be rested so I’m going to keep an eye on that. I know my MF seems light but they could be good value for the money. I don’t want to tie up money in high priced players who might be rotated.

    What should I do with the remaining 3m??

    benayoun might have to go if preseason doesn't show him starting regularly, but what do y'all think? generally attacking defenders, mid-price midfield pretty much across the board. going for even distribution of funds (no one over 10m in the squad).

    I currently have the following team -

    Kenny / (Given)
    Baines / A.Cole / Kompany / (Simpson) / (Wilkinson)
    Walcott / Sinclair / Watson / O'Hara / (Ferguson)
    Bent / Suarez / Torres

    I know ferguson won't play more than a bit part but he is in my team to sit and rot on the bench to free up funds until I wildcard after the international breaks.

    Watson is in for wigans easy start and will then swap for Tchoyi/Walters/Ben Arfa.

    I know alot may say I have alot of money in defence but I am completely happy with it, the only defender I would swap is Wilkinson to another 4m defender, any suggestions?

    My main issues are Suarez starting the season and Torres however I really fancy the latter to improve from last years horrific season and could prove a good differential to Lampard/Malouda.

    Any opinions/critisims would be appriciated?

    Tiny bit of reasoning so you don't have to ask:

    A.Johnson - starting at the moment, over 100 points last year despite injury and got a nice attacking role.

    Walcott - Just a thought will he play up front? If so a bargain I think.

    Moses - Only if N'Zog leaves

    Conditional on N'zogbia moving to Villa. Not really sure about Luiz uncertainty but would like another Chelsea player and think he has a good chance of starting. Opted for Lampard as the only completely reliable Chelsea attacking representation IMHO.

          Well, so far, it's going for the good but historically patchy players I usually avoid, rather than the big guns. It makes captaincy a worry, but ... well here:

        Excellent point thanks, had assumed he was but the pre-season reports suggest perhaps not, he might become Orr in that case.

      How will N Zog adapt in Villa side I really do not know. A lot of new mids, that haven't played together before. It could be 4 5 1 also as we know with their new manager.

      your midfield and attack are quite similar to mine (yaya,bent -> o'hara, zamora)

      I think your defence is a bit cheap. Some of the money invested in bent would be better off in your defence - Bent is overpriced imo.

      I like the team overall. I'd prefer rvp over rooney though. I'd also prefer someone else over lampard although i'm not sure who that someone else is right now.

        Im not excited about yaya either, but i need City coverage with their early fixtures. I could downgrade Lamps to Malouda but his place isn't guaranteed so my captain choice would be limited to Rooney.

          ive got vdv in for now and hopefully after gw1 i'll be confident enough to replace him with malouda. If not i think vdv is ok even with tough games.

          Last season i made the mistake of having torres because i felt i *needed* liverpool coverage.

          IMO if a player is overpriced, don't force him in because of fixtures at the expense of true quality.

    Hello all, first post. Got my first draft just about wrapped up, waiting on some key transfers now but could still use some advice. Team:
    Kenny (Given)

    Kompany Hughes Cole (Simpson Orr)

    Valencia VDV NZogbia Taraabt O'Hara

    Suarez Tevez (Ranger)

    NZog and Tevez are reliant on transfers, not overly keen on NZog at Wigan, though their start isn't too bad, hopefully he shifts to Villa. If Tevez goes I'll either swap to RVP or maybe give Aguero a shot and free some cash for a possible Lamps move.

    My other concern is Valencia, doesn't seem like a reliable starter and maybe the FPL brains know something we don't putting him 2 mill lower than Young/Nani. Was considering a switch to Rodriguez but he's not guaranteed either...

    Anyone in the know on Norwich defenders? Wanna replace Orr with a regular canaries 4.0 starter so my defence rotates nicely

    The other thing is Ranger up front, unlikely to play for Newcastle so are there any better options for a 4.5 mill bench warmer?

      Not for me. Out goes N'Zogbia and in comes Bent.

      To me, the main appeal of N'Zogbia was that he was the heartbeat of that Wigan team so he'd hoover up baps, and be involved in a load of the goals. Don't think that'll happen in Villa, myself.

          It's a toughie, but I don't really want two Villa attackers and even though Bent is £2.5M more I'd rather him. I think.

          From those, I'd be going for B. You've Bent already(?), as I said I personally wouldn't want both and I'm not too convinced by this Moses talk. N'Zog was the heartbeat of that team, not too sure about their prospects without him (depending who/if they sign to replace him).

          Team's looking pretty good I think/hope. Back 7 is set in stone, and I can't see many changes going to be happening to the front 8 either, really. Yourself?

              Ok, but this is not a RMT as it was asked for! 😉

              Given - Ruddy
              Cashley - Kompany - Givet - Simpson - Elokobi
              Silva - Kalou - Sessegnon - Taarabt - Sinclair
              RVP - Bent - Ba

              The three cheapy defenders rotate pretty nicely, and Cashley and Kompany will play week in week out.

              Kalou is a bit of a gamble, but I'm prepared to roll with it. He doesn't need to necessarily start the games (something Granville said the other day, and I quite agree). He does quite often come on, for the last half hour, when the team is 2-0 up find the net. It's a gamble, and may well change, but I quite like it. Especially for GW's 2 & 3.

                Kompany - Lescott - Baines - Simspon- Orr

                Kuyt - Sessegnon -Taarabt - Barton - Sinclair

                Rooney - Bent - Graham

                0.5 mil in Bank to switch Kuyt to Malouda week 2.

                If gerrard is out as is the rumour now then that Kuyt week 1 punt may turn into Captain Dirk.

                Team full of set pieces takers so hoping for some safe points.

                Ya kalou is someone ive my eyes on too. Hope you planning to captain week 2?

                Baines , Rooney and Malouda would be my options

      i think lots of people have him given the uncertainty around the more expensive midfielders - he's fairly certain to start and gives you coverage of man city going forward

      Stop flapping. Theres no big secret, he's just a lanky midfielder for Man City. If you don't want to include him then don't - theres no need to panic like this.

    For those of you who are interested, i've come up with a clever new strategy for playing fantasy football this season...

    - Make a list of all the players who have the potential to really hurt you if you don't include in your team, and I mean really hurt you.

    - Make sure you include all the players on the list in your team, that way theres no way they can really hurt you.

      I've gone for Begovic, I think both teams are good defensively, but both cheap enough and (I think) rotate well.
