Today’s Members article sees the top ten defenders in terms of value come under the spotlight. What’s noticeable with regard to our projected points per Fantasy pound is only one of our top ten defenders ranks higher than any of yesterday’s top ten goalkeepers- with “Save” points boosting the goalkeeper tallies, it highlights the importance of picking the correct goalkeeper pairing in order to get the most out of your budget…
I find it funny how in January Matthew Upson was a consideration into fixing arsenals CB crisis an d a number of teams were lining up ~£8million bids for him. Now 6 months later he is availible on a free and it looks like only wolves are interested.
I realise he is a short term prospect due to age but surely he would be an upgrade for most teams.Open ControlsGiven Ruddy
ColeA Kompany Bramble Simpson Orr
Lampard Sessegnon Sinclair Moses Derry
Rooney VanPersie Zamora
Given- everyone has him, cheap and behind a pretty solid defense
Ruddy- rotates well, won’t play much since Norwich will probably be the whipping boys
ColeA- great clean sheet and attacking potential, Chelsea nice start
Kompany- another ‘must have,’ a mainstay in the solid City backline
Bramble- Titus Shambles is an accident waiting to happen, but 4.5 is still a snip imo
Simpson/Orr- my cheap benchies, 4.0 but are starters for their sides
Lampard- to get in on Chelsea’s good opening fixtures, safest option, set pieces/spot kick duties
Sessegnon- appears as if Bruce is building the side around him, plays right behind the striker
Sinclair- prefer him to Taarabt as this season’s Charlie Adam
Moses- should thrive without N’Zog, great opening fixtures
Derry- bench warmer, but is a sure starter for QPR
Rooney- good preseason, Man U coverage
RVP- labeled a ‘must have’ by many, covers Arsenal
Zamora- Fulham have an attractive start to the season
Tinkering less and less everyday, so that’s good!
There’s my novel, anyone want to give their thoughts?
CheersOpen Controlswhy not brown in place of bramble for sunderland? may be more of a goal threat and less of a card magnet. watson may be another cheap option for wigan. I think Lamps is only necessary if it is confirmed that malouda will not be a regular starter.
Open ControlsBest options at SUN are Barsdley and O Shea in defence. Well, according to the projections 😉
Bardsley the best option for scoring.Open Controls
Solid. Derry is QPR's equivalent of Tiote though, so you may want a rethink.
Get a 4.5 mid and upgrade Sinclair to Taarabt or Ruddy to Kenny.
I like it though on the whole. Always been a fan of a few really top players rather than an even spread. Captaincy wins out.Open ControlsCheers. Looking at Dyer as a different 4.5 option
Are you saying to get a second 4.5 mid?
Ya not too may teams with 3 big guns, but I agree with your top player vs. even spread philosophyOpen ControlsFor the love of god, don't get Dyer.
Your team looks pretty good to me. Consider getting Cech and Warnock instead of Given and Cole: saves you 0.5m with the same defences covered. Fitting Rooney and RVP in is very tempting (and Lampard!) but I wonder if you might downgrade one of them to say Suarez. With those 2 changes you've then got 3m extra and Derry becomes N'Zogbia, and you've got a team I'm thinking about copying!Open ControlsOnly problem about the Given/Cold to Cech/Warnock is it removes the chance of goals & assists from Cole. You'd expect with the new managers attacking intent he'd acquire a few of these this year.

any updates on the 6.0 league?
Open Controlsrmt please..be much appreciated!
Given-Ruddy

N'zogbia-Barton-Moses-O'Hara-Malouda
Rooney-Bent-GrahamOpen Controlslads,
what can anyone tell me about graham?? i heard he scored 24 goals last year but no one is talking about him? is he any good? better than holt? at 5.0 he seems like maybe a better deal than odemwingie, who i currently haveOpen ControlsHad a great season with Watford last year..tends to score goals in bunches...6 matches in a row then a quiet spell..has (limited) Premier experience with Mboro so may well be able to make the step up and could prove a very cheap and useful FF player..a potential dark horse but I don't think he's scored yet pre-season so he is still obviously settling in to his new club..
Open Controls
Any suggestions on how to improve this squad? I feel like I have a strong selection of heavy hitters offset with some good value buys that should increase value and rack up those points. RVP for Rooney once he gets tired.
Given (Moreira)
Baines Kompany O'Shea (Simpson, Ward)
Lampard N'Zogbia O'Hara Sinclair (Dyer)
RVP Suarez Rodallega
0 in the bank.Open Controlsok - I think I have got some kind of team, need help with 3 players though
GK
Given - Starts every game for me
Ruddy - Just sits on bench all season
Defence
A.Cole - Attacking and defensive points
Kompany - Best defender price wise in the game
Baines - Attacking and defensive points
Wilkonson - Bench
Simpson - Bench
Midfield
Barton - Quite cheap in FPL, may be on penalties and takes all set pieces
VDV - I love VDV 😀
Silva- I think Silva will be last seasons Nani
Kalou - My chelsea attacker, risky - but even if he doesn't start games he usually comes on and scores. 10 goals and 5 assists last season.
Bradley Johnson - My sneaky pick
Strikers
Rooney - Best player in EPL
Zamora - I always have him in FPL, he scores and assists
Graham - Cheap striker to play in home games.
My only worries really are Kalou, Johnson and Graham. I keep transferring them out and replacing them with other players like Holt, Taarabat, N'Zogbia etc.Open Controlskalou likely on rotation probably with yossi if AVB going with 4-3-3 formation just my thought on this ???
Open ControlsTo quote an article in the Guardian, he "plays so infrequently that a Google search for Kieron Dyer injury brings up 108,000 results"
The article in question reckons QPR could be in trouble this year, fans are not happy with how the summer has gone: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2011/jul/25/neil-warnock-queens-park-rangersOpen ControlsThe Dyer people are putting in their sides in Nathan not Kieron. Not much better prospect IMO.
Open ControlsI seeeee. *checks wikipedia* So not an injury-prone QPR midfielder, but a Swansea midfielder who has scored 10 goals in 6 years and who got done for burglary a few years back. Yep, still not on my wishlist.
Open ControlsIt seems i'm the only person considering the scottish messi as a cheap gamble 😀

Hey guys, would appreciate some feedback on my team. Cheers
Al-Habsi (Ruddy)
Kompany (Rotating 4 x 4mil Defenders)
Lampard, VDV, Nzogbia, Taarabt, Albrighton
Van Persie, Bent (Graham)
Will change Bent to Suarez after a few rounds, and maybe Albrighton or Nzogbia, wont keep 2 mids from the same team, but want to take advantage of Villa's easyish start.Open ControlsIt looks like you've filled in your forwards and midfielders and then pressed auto-complete. You might want to consider downgrading your midfield to improve your defence.
Open ControlsCheers for the feedback. Considering Downgrading Frank to Malouda and then using the cash on defence. Having said that, i think i can rotate my 4 defenders and get a good score each week.
Open ControlsHave you picked out your 4m defenders yet? I'd be suprised if anyone you pick up for that money is getting you anything more than 2 points a week... and whilst you can probably rely on Lampard, VDV, RVP and Bent to get you points most weeks, I'm not sure N'Zogbia, Taarabt and Albrighton will be scoring highly enough to make up for your defence.
Open Controls
You'll have to use a minimum of two 4mil defenders each week, maybe more depending on injuries/suspensions to the rest of your team. You'll be lucky to have even 1 week in the whole season where both of you 4 mill defenders get clean sheets.
Therefore you hang your hat on Kompany; if ManC concede you look at a very low scoring week.Open Controls
Can anyone confirm that Begovich is definitely Stoke's first choice keeper over Sorensen???
This is an important question for me as it appears Stoke and Villa's keepers will rotate 100% perfectly for the entire season.Open ControlsConfirmed!

What do u guys reckon?
is bainsey worth having?
How wil Dempsey go?
And what about Drogba?Open ControlsIf you can afford Baines - then yes
A fit Dempsey will be great as usual
No one can say for sure how the Chelsea front line will line up, Drogba may not even start.Open ControlsDempsey is a big question for me. last season i think he played a more advanced role cos of injuries to zamora etc.
My dilemma is whether a cheaper fulham midfield option will pay dividends.
What do you reckon on murphy or Duff?Open ControlsDempsey at 8.5mil is just too expensive, plenty options at that price range and lower, I will be avoiding at the beginning.
If Duff is fit and going to play regularly, then i'd pick Duff over Murphy any day of the week, but that's my opinion.Open Controls
For the start of the season, Dempsey is too pricey I think. That said he could be a handy differential and Fulham's fixtures are very friendly.
Baines is f*cking expensive, and as much as I want him, he's messing up the balance of my team a bit, so I'm not 100% sold on him- especially as Everton often start slow.
Drogba is a lot of money for someone not guaranteed a place. Which is a shame, because he was a constant for me the last couple of seasons (my old team name Cesc, Drogs and Rock 'n' Roll appears to be redundant, which is upsetting)Open Controls
My big question mark is over Baines. I keep thinking he's unbalancing my side, but can't quite bring myself to get rid of him. Any good arguments either way?
Open Controlsexpensive. defenders generally score less than mid
i would prefer to spend money like that in midfieldOpen ControlsBaines is more or less a midfielder who also gets you cs periodically. With Cahill fully fit (and with no Australian adventure) along with Beckford finding his feet it could be a even better season for Baines.
Open Controls
Cons - Everton are known to start slow and he's too expensive
Pros - He assists, is on FK's, and will get clean sheet points and plenty Bonus points.Open ControlsNot to mention penalties is Artera is injured, something which is happening more and more.
Open Controls
Think of baines as an attacking winger that gets clean sheet points. Most crosses in the league and one of the worlds best headers on the end of them. He's worth it regardless of penalties.
Open Controls
OK, after my first (unproductive) day at work since FPL launched, I've got the following team:
Cech - Ruddy
Baines - Kompany - Brown - Orr - De Laet
Silva - VDV - N'Zogbia - Moses - Tiote
Suarez- RVP - Beattie
Would like some attacking Chelsea cover, but too much uncertainty at the moment. Ditto United. For the first time in 2011: rate my team! (please)Open ControlsLooks pretty good to me. I confess I'll have to look Beattie up to see who he his. Silva and Suarez may not play much in the first weeks. VDV has tough fixtures. RVP has two Champion's League games. But I'm sure you know all this already. All the best with it.

Hey Guys,
First time player longtime supporter. Just putting out there for a few tips. here's my side below.
Hart
Baines Kompany Jose Enrique Sagna
Sinclair Taarabt Bale Faurlin
Suarez Holt
(Given)
(Luiz)
(Wilshere)
(Gervinho)
My thoughts are putting the solid defenders in there with Baines, Kompany, Sagna and Enrique was a late choice only because of his minutes he plays, He's also one who plays in the starting side and scores goals. The midfield I've had good think about it although I don't have VDV in the side, watching Taarabt & Faurlin last yr in the championship they are good assist players who play full matches as well as goal scorers with Sinclair easy choice I reckon he'll be in his element in PL this yr and will have a lot of goals in him. With the Front line, I'm going with Suarez he'll be on a little bit of a high after the Uruguay win and Holt well lets call him and X-factor. He was 2nd highest goal scorer in championship and a leader of the team. Decision on who will start and who will be on the bench are still there, any thoughts???Open Controlspossibly a bit too much money in your defence. midfield score more points in general
Open ControlsCheers for your comments
Open Controls
pretty good team but i would hold off baines as he is very expensive when there are midfielders for the same prices who will score higher ,bring him in rd 11
hart too expensive, don't double on any defence
bale has tough fixtures - get nzog or yaya insteadOpen ControlsWelcome.
Hart and Given is a mistake. You don't need both and could free up some money. I don't know Faurlin yet, so it may well be a good call if you know something we don't. Luiz and Gervinho are risky at this stage as we don't know how much they'll be playing.
Looks good, though. I wish you well. Have fun.Open ControlsGood to see a team which is not a cookie cutter of the rest but imo there are serious issues with it.
Firstly, way too much in defence and Luiz is not nailed on. Goal keepers are excessive as well
Midfield - you are making the assumption with 3 players that they will make the transition to PL, the other 2, Bale may end up left back for part of the season and Wilshere isn't guaranteed a start either. This is where you need some proven heavy hitters are lots of points come from here.
Forwards - Suarez probably misses 2 games, Holt unproven at PL level and Gervinho I would prefer to wait and see how he is used.
Good luck and enjoy your season, this is only my opinion remember, you may end up being a genius!!Open Controlsyou've got five attackers that are unproven in the premier league. We see every season there's no way of knowing how well they'll adapt. Speaking from experience it's best to play it safe at the start, you've got 38 free trades to bring them in if they dont flop. That team will screams week two wildcard. I'm starting with two unproven attackers and no rotation risks.
Open Controls
I would say your midfield is way too weak and full of too many gambles.
Suarez prob wont start the season until week 2 or 3.
Luiz may or may not be a starter
Wilshere, whilst a good player, in terms of a FPL prospect i don't really like him as he does not score enough goals nor provide enough assists to be a viable option.
Gervinho is a gamble, but it may pay off, just remember Arsenal have a hard first few weeks and hes only new to the PL.Open Controlsi am thinking to get a cheaper fulham midfielder in than Dempsey.
murphy or Duff or stick with Dempsey and pay the money?Open Controlshows this squad?
alhabsi given
kompany cole hangeland o'shea simpson
lampard y.toure n'zogbia taarabt moses
suarez zamora beattie
have 1.5m in the bank, so any changes worth making?
had baines but dont like his fixtures / he may start slow so will bring him in later
beattie is a cheap option form swansea, who's been scoring preseason, anyone have more info on him?
and moses, should i keep him? yaya or silva? thx guysOpen ControlsWhich do you think is better for first 6-8 game weeks:
Given , ruddy
Baines, ash cole, kompany, Simpson, Rafael
VDV, Barton, nzogbia, sinclair, taarabt
Bent, rodallega, holt
Or
Given , ruddy
Hughes, ash cole, kompany, Simpson, Orr
VDV, Barton, nzogbia, sinclair, taarabt
Bent, rodallega, van persieOpen Controls2. rvp is a must and downgrade bent to suarez... and barton out with sessogeone in imi
Open Controls
beatie wont start much. Yaya is way overpriced. Get silva imo
Open ControlsThoughts on when to wildcard?
Last year was my first so I didn't really plan ahead, I used the WC just after AC scored his hat-trick v Villa (GW2/3) and changed my whole team around (all of my defenders were 6m or over ) At first I thought I played it too early, but the second WC means to me that you should play it pre-crimbo. Ended up finishing in the top 4k so it paid off 😀
The first two international breaks are just after GW3 and after GW7 too, probably will go for the latter myself 🙂Open ControlsAlso a break after GW11...
Open Controls
Where is everyone getting this Al Habsi and Given keeper combo??
Has any of you actually taken the time to look how their fixtures rotate together?
Definitely not a keeper combo i'll be usingOpen Controls
