Today’s Members article sees the top ten defenders in terms of value come under the spotlight. What’s noticeable with regard to our projected points per Fantasy pound is only one of our top ten defenders ranks higher than any of yesterday’s top ten goalkeepers- with “Save” points boosting the goalkeeper tallies, it highlights the importance of picking the correct goalkeeper pairing in order to get the most out of your budget…

Got A Cole in side for Chelsea cover. Is Benayoun worth a punt at 7.0 or just stick with Fat Frank or Malouda

Will have to keep an eye on Benayoun, AVB seems to like him so he may get game time, but at best he will still be rotated imo..

But at that price he may be worth a gamble.

Thinking the same myself. Certainly worth 7.0 if he gets the gametime. May be a good differential/readful mistake. choices choices

    First draft:

    Al-Habsi Given

    Kompany Senderos Cole Kelly Distin

    Yaya N'Zog Taarabt Brunt Dyer

    Odemwingie Rooney Suarez

Midfield looks fairly s**t to me.
Going to be my first year without Lampard.

Maybe think about dropping Rooney for Zamora of Roda and then you'll be able to pick up a big-time mid.

        Just can't do it.

United have a tough start but Rooney is a monster on his day and fixtures won't matter to him, so he's a must have IMO.

I've not got any ManU attacking cover due to their tough fixtures at the start. TOT ARS CHE in the first 5 weeks.

I would look for a big name striker with easier fixtures, then swap Rooney in later, or if he suddenly comes alive. He was a bit damp at the start of last season.

Here is a question for you all, regarding strategy for the upcoming season.

As the first few game weeks can be a bit of a lottery, what with new signings, new managers, new teams etc, do you think it is better to field your strongest team right out of the gate, or field a slightly conservative team with money in the bank to tinker.

I keep flirting with the idea of putting out a strong-ish team with a few cheap gambles, and 3.0m in the bank to get the in form players before their price rises, in order to give me more spending power later in the season.

The only problem with that is that by christmas everyone's teams are very similar and captain choice is often the deciding factor.

I am a fan of picking your strongest possible team. unless you have a CERTAIN player that you MUCH bring in by a certain gameweek then you should plan for that. but if you are planning on multiple transfers etc... don't bother. things will change from week to week that you would never see coming. bandwagons will form that you didn't anticipate and then there are unforseen injuries and rotations that surprise.

come out of the game strong

Couple of risks here, pretty similar to everyone else's I think, desperately waiting for more transfers to confirmed. It would be so nice if they could get all of the transfers finalised before the FPL deadline, we should all lobby for next year. Anyway, what'dya think?

    Given - Al-Habsi

    Al-Habsi (Ruddy)
    Rafael, Samba, Kompany (Naughton, Simpson)
Taarabt, Silva, Gamst-Ped, N'zogbia (super jack)
    Drogba, RVP, Zamora.

Im thinking maybe RVP out for gervinho, (will wait to see the line-ups/performances @ the emirates cup) mainly because RVP hasn't looked sharp in pre-season at all, I know its only pre-season but its not as if he was'nt trying to score ...
plus i'd appreciate any thoughts on the rest of the chaps

I am having trouble between 2 players...

Carroll or Suarez (leaning towards Suarez as I don't believe he will be rested)

Yaya Toure or Silva (Silva will get assists and is more integral to offense/on set pieces but Yaya is cheaper and gets forward and scores goals)

Suarez may not be rested, but look @ the form of the majority of WC players @ the start of last season (most of them were rested), suarez only has 3 weeks to lay on a li-lo, get drunk and sleep with hookers, (not accusing him of any of the aforementioned acts, im just thinking what most men would do in said situation)

no, what he says is ideal, but why not just have malouda from the beginning and not have to worry about wasting another transfer on that after gw 1? chelsea playing stoke and spurs home to everton aren't too drastic to need that kind of a switch - they're about the same level of difficulty.

Interesting news on Senderos starting for Fulham. Hadn't really been keeping up with their pre-season, but it definitely looks like he's a starter for the Cottagers now.

If this continues, and he nails down a first team spot at CB, he'll be a much better pick than Hughes. Right backs traditionally score terribly at FF, and Senderos is cheaper too.

Matthew Briggs as well is one to watch. He'll be the steal of the season if he plays OoP at 4.0 for Fulham.

Hopefully we'll know more before the start of the year, but at this rate, I'll saving money on Hughes, and that money really helps up top!

I seem to be the only one on here with Torres in my team. Why? Surely he will start most games? I imagine it would have come up in AVB's job interview! How do you plan to get the best out of my new £50m striker?

You're not the only one. You're one of 25038, including me. Although if Aguero is cheaper I might start with him.

Yeah, I know loads will generally have him as he is an obvious pick, but on here with people who are "ITK" he seems to be avoided like the plague! I just hope we are right!

I'm not picking him purely because i watched Chelsea's pre season game against malaysia and he was absolute sh*t. When he comes good again, sure, but i'm not risking that just yet.

He'll more than likely be coming off after 60/not starting and has been awful for the last few months,so no.
