Today’s Members article sees the top ten defenders in terms of value come under the spotlight. What’s noticeable with regard to our projected points per Fantasy pound is only one of our top ten defenders ranks higher than any of yesterday’s top ten goalkeepers- with “Save” points boosting the goalkeeper tallies, it highlights the importance of picking the correct goalkeeper pairing in order to get the most out of your budget…

You really need a big hitter up front imo as a captain option and great and all as suarez is in fpl i wold be more comfortable with rvp or rooney, carroll would probably be a better bet too imo as he is more likely to tip away and get nice points regularly

I know the feeling...what i would say is it is good to have a big hitter alternative to lamps as a captain alternative eg rooney at home against norwich...or rvp against whoever...

            Given
            Gibbs, Rafael, Baines
            O'hara, Albrighton, VDV, Lamps, Dyer
            Carroll, Bent

Given the usual start of season injuries, new managers, uncertain selections and tactics dont be forced into an early season wc...the first couple of games is just the start. Select nailed on starters and adjust afterwards i would say. Having said that i will of course wc by gw2;-)

Score draw for me. Think QPR will struggle over course of season, not enough strength. Have been keeping a close eye on Pratley for Bolton, been playing mins and scoring, gd attacking midfield player. Not proven in Prem but i think worthy of bench atleast?!

    Al Habsi
    Kelly, A Cole, Rafael
    VDV, N'Zog, Benayoun, Jarvis
    Ba, Bent, Suarez

    Subs: Given, Tchoyi, Shawcross, Drury

Here's a puzzler, for the princely sum of 22m which is better:

    A) RVP & Young

    or

Adding weight to Young's potential is the fact he was by far the most fouled against player in the league last season. With his own set piece ability, not to mention Rooney, Berbatov, Nani and Giggs, and the new rules giving assists for winning goal-scoring direct free kick opportunities, Young could be a monster this season.

Plus the fact that as a new signee the demand is to see him perform!

Inevitably true, and a point against every single Utd player. Even the Roonster.

But as the current grandstand signing, Young will be given a crack, and could capitalise!!!

            Maybe.

pretty much yeh... i was just thinking about how cech has consistently scored over 130 and to buy a midfielder who consistently does that its going to be 8 or 9 instead of 7. I had ash cole but i switched to a cheaper defence with Cech keeper. what are your thoughts?

Well, like I say it's worthy of good consideration.

Cech is the most guaranteed route into the Chelsea defence, and also a safe keeper pick every week.

          However...

Picking two cheap keepers that rotate well isn't just about saving the moolah.

It also enables you to pick easier fixtures, pick up save points and make up quite a lot of the relative points lost from not having Cech/Hart/VDS. And it also gives you an added dimension of picking cheaper options, who are in form, playing behind strong defences, good value, etc.

And then you can pick Bosingwa when he starts bombing down the wing every game 😉 And start picking up Chelsea CS points that way 😀

i'm reluctant to invest in city's attack, they're too defensive even with all of that fire power. if tevez leaves i'd hold off as i think he'd be around 9.5-10 and you can get suarez/chicharito for that on teams both looking to score goals.

The opposite, no? When/if he doesn't play, many of those 40% will sell him, dropping his price ... just in time for us to pick him up when he does start - at a cheaper price!

        Or maybe not.

technically the more people that have a player at the beginning the harder it is for a price to go up.

its more likely that the player will go down in price, and if suarez is benched for the first game i can see a mass exodus and his price dropping to 9.4/9.3 for GW2.

alternative is he starts, scores and the other 60% want him in and he will go up..

I have seen today that he is prepared to cut his holidays short so he's available to start the season, so may not be the case. Remember also, before the Copa America started he had a 7 game match ban for biting someone when playing for Ajax so no excuses for being 'burnt out'!!

I watched an interview today with Darren Burgess, Liverpool's head fitness/conditioning coach and he says Suarez will be back at the club 8 days before the season's start. He also hints it would be difficult convincing Kenny that Suarez would NOT be able to play.

Given how many preseason games every single team is playing, the Copa America is not a big deal.

A player like Suarez should't suffer too much from failing to adapt to the way his team plays by missing some warm-up games. Especially not off the back of a sterling performance in Argentina...

Ben Foster has apparently tonight agreed to join us on loan, will turn permanent next summer if Birmingham fail to get promoted. Deal will be made official in the next 24 hours Really can't see them coming back up, reports locally tonight that they are facing administration.

He should be 4.5 really, just because it is Ben Foster he will still be playing in a team who kept just two clean sheets last season where as Blues must of kept around 8-9? He will probably be 5.0 though, he did finish last season priced at 5.3 I think.

Reported on BRMB, which is basically the main radio station in Birmingham who surprisingly enough follow Birmingham City more than any other club. Press conference tomorrow at 12:30 I think too at Blues, apparently they are basically having to get players off the wage bill to pay the bills.

I'm sure we will though, and it will improve after a summer of working with Hodgson. Our lack of clean sheets was overhyped a little last season, there were quite a number of games where we just conceded the 1 goal which would often be Carson's fault, he is a liability and Myhill isn't any better at all.

Nathan Dyer. RW and Swansea fans player of the season at 4.5mil.
Also, Hart was 6 saves from having most saves in the prem, this plus 18 clean sheets, must make him a wiser choice over an injury prone given which hasnt played in a year

    Open Controls

of course hart is going to get more points than given, but there is a 2mill gulf in price and you need to decide if you could use that cash elsewhere more wisely.

Given hasnt played for a year because he was dropped for hart and is considered to be the most consistent keeper in the premiership of all time - he may be a but scratchy early doors, but you dont lose class.

i really want hart but keep falling back to given to keep my other 10 how i like them

Dyer is a classic FFS recipe for disaster. Think Boselli/Ebanks-Blake.

If you're going for promoted players, they have to be assured of starts and something more. i.e. penalty takers. i.e. Taarabt, Sinclair, Holt. No confidence, no certainty in anyone else.
