Today’s Members article sees the top ten defenders in terms of value come under the spotlight. What’s noticeable with regard to our projected points per Fantasy pound is only one of our top ten defenders ranks higher than any of yesterday’s top ten goalkeepers- with “Save” points boosting the goalkeeper tallies, it highlights the importance of picking the correct goalkeeper pairing in order to get the most out of your budget…
My daily RMT...
Given, Al-Habsi
A Cole, Kompany, Hughes, Gorkss, Simpson
Lampard, Albrighton, Sinclair, Taarabt, Moses
Torres, Suarez, ZamoraOpen ControlsIf you swapped downgraded Gorkss and Hughes and uupgraded Torres, youd basically have my team..
Open ControlsNot bad, but no City players.
Open ControlsAttacking cover. Maybe downgrade Hughes and upgrade Torres to Tevez.
Open Controls
I know he's prob ur 3rd sub, but i think Gorkss is being lined up for a move away.
As a Chelsea fan, I'd be patient with Torres, i know we have 'easy games on paper' to start the season but Villa's are favourable too and i would go for Bent atleast for a week or two especially as he is pen taker and the only one who is likely to get goals at Villa......oh and Heskey will mayb get 1 for the season off his backside!!Open ControlsI kind of just have Torres in there at the moment just because there is nobody else I fancy but I doubt he will be in my team GW1. I will definitely have Lampard and A Cole.
Yeah, Bent is tempting but I still wouldn't feel confident captaining him, he is too hot and cold and at 10.0 it is very risky to include him in your starting team imo.
Albrighton should be in quite a number of set pieces anyway....Open ControlsAlbrighton is a good shout but have 3 Villa players already (which i only just realised writing this). I've been umming and arring about Bent for days but i'm convinced he will get goals early doors.
I have Cole, but for the 1st time in 4 years have not gone with Lamps, think he will be used less frequently this season with Josh McEachran getting games, not that i'd suggest putting him in!!Open Controls
like zamora, want him but can't find space
Open ControlsFor some reason in my head it is like it feels like it is essential for me to have Fulham attacking cover for some reason, nice fixtures and attacking football under Jol I suppose.
Open Controlsyeah their fixtures are decent for a nice prolonged period. if it wasn't for wanting odemwingie in gw3 i'd be all over zamora
Open Controls
best 5m defender and i dont like hughes this year as i feel he may be rotated with senderos i edging toward stoke defender shawcross as they have ok fixutres i see pontnal clean sheets and assits
Open Controlswarnock imo is hughes but with more attacking points
Open ControlsEven Paul Robinson offers more attacking points than Hughes!
Open Controlsha true. good thing with hughes is he never gets a yellow. if warnock gets 9 yellows that's 3 assists hughes has over him
Open ControlsWarnock is partial to the odd rash tackle definitely. Looking at his history now it's amazing he managed to rack up 8 YCs last season and yet hardly seemed to play. Makes his card count with us look quite tame in comparison!
Open Controls
young, johnson, o'shea?
Open Controls
Dan - Any 4m WBa defenders likely to start?
Hodgson can shore up a defence and Foster behind makes them even more attractive.Open ControlsIs GregHammer around?? Wondering if his H2H leagues are running this year.
Open ControlsHe is... He said to expect an email the other day
Open Controls
moses and suarez or silva and graham
please help me cant decideOpen ControlsWho is projected to get more points Suarez or carol?
Open ControlsI know the answer to this question 8)
Open Controls
A. Torres and Zamora
or
B. RVP and Doyle(6.0 for)
??Open Controlszamora and torres/drogba
Open Controls
What price will Foster be?
Open ControlsThere is an absolute shnake of a moth in the room tonight. He's not gonna win this.
Open Controlstheres some bigguns around at the mo, especially out in the sticks.. 🙁
Open ControlsDaddy long legs season is upo us, they are the real basta*ds!
Open Controlsand dont get me started on spiders. These bastards are getting bigger each year..
Open Controls+1 although they are fairly harmless. Got a wasps nest somewhere in my place, one of the feeckers got me in the shower a couple of weeks back. Bast*rd!
Open Controls
former
Open Controls
i wonder if AVB will maintain Carlo's traditional friday teamsheet giveaway. Someone should tell him its standard practice over here...
Open ControlsAny thoughts on Richard Dunne this season for Villa he was a big scorer a few seasons back and he is only 5.5m
Open ControlsI'd prefer Collins
Open Controls
Given/Ruddy
Simpson/Kompany/Shawcross/Luiz/Orr
Barton/Moses/Lampard/Nzogbia/Taarabt
Rooney/Suarez/Zamora
RMT
cheers ladsOpen ControlsO'Hara is being largely ignored. Long may it continue.
Open ControlsHelp me out here, i don't see the appeal? 1 assist last season, 1!! He's not even on pens.
Open ControlsNo idea what his points projection is but i'd say he's quite capable of 6 goals and 6 assists next season. The big question mark against O'Hara is how the new BP rule will affect him. Obviously in the games where he scores he'll be fine but not so sure when he doesn't. He racked them in under the old system, 38 in not even a seasons worth of games (over last 2 years)
Open ControlsPersonally, if i was to go for a Wolves midfielder, it would be Hunt. I can see wolves being better this season with Doyle, Fletcher and Johnson getting the majority of the BP's.
Open ControlsI'd consider Hunt too but only if he was a little cheaper. Given they are the same price i think O'Hara has to be the call. Shame Hunt isn't £5m or even £5.5 as he is a genuine goal/assist threat
Open ControlsThe pricing is soo harsh this year, there is nobody around the 5.5 mark or below that stands out in midfield or upfront. Last season, we had loads!
Open ControlsIt's very true, that is probably the hardest hit area (cheap midfielders i mean). Just at a glance there are a few guys like Moses, Ben Arfa, Petrov that might be worth a look but not much. Spoilt last season i guess!
Open Controls
put off by the new bap system. he was a bap daddy but now may rely on his goals and assists in which case i think he's no better than jarvis
Open Controls
Anybody else here pondering an inclusion of Drogba? Usually runs riot in August and with Chelski's games he would seem set to do so again if he gets the minutes, major if though.
Open Controlsya but its 2 risky to spend that much on him at the start i think we will know more after the first game
Open Controlsdeffinetley.have roonpig and tevez/aguero first game, then will ship one out for drogba for his run of games. Will be interesting to see what happens in the first week and rest of pre season..
Open Controls
RMT's are starting to look generic on here now...
Open ControlsId forgotten just how much I love 80's US anti-commie action movies. Go Rambo!
Open ControlsAnyone free to offer some feedback on my team? 🙂
Given
Kompany A.Cole Alcaraz
N'Zogbia Lampard Taarabt YayaToure
Holt RVP Zamora
Ruddy Sinclair Simpson BrownOpen ControlsThat looks to be the official FFS RMT Team
[FFSRMTT, for the hep cats]
Can't say I'm lovin' Alcaraz ... but a solid team, no doubt.Open ControlsCheers for that I see your point, but I originally had Luiz. With Luiz being a potential rotation risk I had to free up funds elsewhere for A.Cole and Alcaraz fits the bill.
Open Controls
well, at the end of play today my team looks like this....
Given (Ruddy)
Kompany, Rafeal, Hughes (W.Brown, Simpson)
Barton, Tarrabt, Nani, N'Zogbia, Benayoun
Tevez, Rooney (Graham)
nice...Open ControlsWell it's different from some of the generic RMTs on here. Maybe swap Nani to Silva? Rooney will give you sufficient attacking cover. Rafael may well be a rotational risk as will Benayoun, N'Zogbia could well slot nicely in your team.
Open ControlsSaying that, he's already in your team.
having a 'Dave is that you, Dave' moment..Open Controls
RMT if you guys wouldn't mind 🙂
Given (Al-Habsi)
Luiz, Hughes, Kompany (Orr,Simpson)
Lampard, Wilshere,N'Zogbia,Taarabt (Tiote)
Van Persie,Suarez, Rodallega
Thanks 🙂Open ControlsIs anyone having Rooney from the start? I know it's not the easist of starts but WestBrom away will hold no fears then it's back-to-back home games (albeit against strong teams). I'm struggling to see too many forwards that appeal, especially if Suarez is given an extra week or two off.
Open Controlsgot rooney and tevez. it doesn't matter who they are playing against really, they are players who win games
Open ControlsTevez has never scored against Arsenal 8)
Open Controls
Yeah I'm finding it hard picking strikers, that is why I'm 100% going to have Lampard. I would rather have Rooney than Van Persie for the first 3 weeks, City have good fixtures though so I'll definitely get Aguero if he signs and Tevez leaves.
Open ControlsI'm quite tempted to have no Chelsea MID/ATT for GW1 and make sure i leave funds to get one for GW2 or 3. I suppose if you had to pick one then Lampard would be it as he's assured a start and on pens
Open Controls
I'll probably have him for the first week at least.
It's not like any other big forward has a better game (considering we don't know the Man City situation)Open ControlsLiverpool have a decent opening game against Suderland at Anfield and i wouldn't be surprised to see Carroll score a goal or two there. Citeh as well i suppose but like you say gawd knows what the situation will be there in a couple of weeks. Might have to have Aguero and Rooney starting
Open Controls
yeah. going to give him the first 2 games then decide where to go from there. rooney got 12 at the hawthorns last season so a repeat would be delicious.
Open ControlsZamora or bent from the start.
Open ControlsZamora? urgh no chance. I'm not a fan... although i do like a penalty taker. He on them this season or is it Murph?
Open ControlsZamora is class, he scores goals and gets assists. I bet his PPG ratio after he returned last season was very impressive.
Open Controls
Joey Barton for some reason i cant take him out of my team as i see so much goals and assits in him this season and with nolan gone he will surely get pens coners freekicks anyoneelse on the Barton bandwagon
Open ControlsDidn't Barton have penalties and free-kicks anyway?
Open Controlsameobi was 1st choice taker all season, he just didn't always play.
so this season yeah if ameobi is sub barton looks decent although cabaye is apparently a penalty specialist too, one who hasn't missed a pen in pre season like bartonOpen ControlsNolan and ameobi sponged the pens.
Open Controls
Given
Nelsen | Kompany | Riise | A.Cole
Taarabt | Yaya | Barton
Rooney | RVP | Zamora
Subs : Sinclair , Ferguson , Orr
Gonna change A.cole for Luiz or Ivanovic when im sure who is starting. Then upgrade the midfield.
Thoughts ?Open ControlsNot a bad team. I wouldnt go for a fham defender given the system jol usually operates, leaves them leaking. Maybe rafael for riise, and slot in a chelsea attacker...
Open ControlsIm gonna leave Riise in for the first few weeks mainly because of the decent fixtures and Riise is quite attacking. I'll probably swap him with Rafael once United's fixtures ease off. Ye im gonna change RVP with either Drogab or Torres for GW2 , its just i don't know who will be starting so thought id put in RVP for the first GW , hopefully he can get me some points.
Out of interest which would you prefer :
1. Odenwinge & 6.0 Mid
2.Zamora & BruntOpen Controls
Not too much love for big asamoah on here... i rate him and think he will haul in the goals considering he will be the focal point with the likes of larsson providing.
Open ControlsAgree. Im considering putting him in , probably will after a few weeks.
Open Controlsyeh might wait off on him... not sure of whether to take chica or rooney...
Open ControlsRonney. Chica won't be starting the first few games said Fergie. And if we go by what David Gill said earlier today United will be signing another attacking midfielder ( i assume he was talking about Sneijder ). If that goes through id say Rooney will be pushed further up like 2 seasons ago with whoever we buy playing in the hole.
Open Controls
What are the rule changes this season? i've only been on sporadically since it opened. got a pretty general team of
given/kenny
cole/simpson/gorkks/colins/russell
silva/watson/nzogbia/taarbat/sinclair
tevez/torres/rodelllegaOpen ControlsVice-Captain replaces form/price captain substitute.
BPs awarded based on the EASports Index, or somesuch. Ties can result in two players getting the same BPs (3,3, and 1 for instance).Open ControlsEASports index? im guessing that takes into consideration pass accuarcy and shot accuarcy ect?
Open ControlsYep. CS, goals, assists, team winning = important; as well as stats like you mention (penalties for missed shots on goal, etc.)
The text from FPL regarding the awarding of points is:
"The three best performing players in each match according to the EA SPORTS Player Performance Index will receive additional bonus points. 3 points will be awarded to the highest scoring player, 2 to the second best and 1 to the third.
Bonus points will be awarded the morning after the matches are played.
Examples of how bonus point ties will be resolved are as follows:
If there is a tie for first place, Players 1 & 2 will receive 3 points each and Player 3 will receive 1 point.
If there is a tie for second place, Player 1 will receive 3 points and Players 2 and 3 will receive 2 points each.
If there is a tie for third place, Player 1 will receive 3 points, Player 2 will receive 2 points and Players 3 & 4 will receive 1 point each."Open Controlsawesome mate cheers for this, great help.
Open Controls
Is anyone NOT getting Given?! I'm looking at splashing out on Hart or Cech- or maybe even Reina or De Gea for a bit less... if you've got them they'll be in your team every week and are reliable point scorers.
I think there's a lot to be said for splurging on defensive players- clean sheets are hard to come by outside of the big teams.
Think about this: Hart got 18 clean sheets last season, getting 4 points for each one. How many strikers got 18 goals last season? And how many of them cost 7m?Open ControlsLook at it like this:
Hart & Warnock vs. Given & Kompany + 1 milOpen ControlsNice
Open Controls
Why spend big on cech when cole will start nearly every game and give you a cs assist and bp potential for a fraction higher price...same line pf arguement with hart and kompany. Saving thr 0.5 mill here and there will make all the difference.
Open ControlsBut with those goals come bonus points. They also get assists, the points add up.
Open Controlsand keepers lose points
Open ControlsBut despite all this, Hart got 175 points last season: only 4 midfielders beat this tally, only 3 strikers, and only 1 defender.
One step down, Cech got 158: again, only 1 defender got more points than this, and 4 strikers, although he was beaten onpoints by 9 midfielders.Open Controls
That's it ... gonna start two keepers and one forward. Team sorted.
Open Controlsyou can say the same for 5mil keepers and 5 mil strikers. how many 5 mil strikers get >120 points?
my theory is the 2 mil you save by going for a schwarzer or a given instead can be made up better in midfield or attack. most keepers get >120 points unless you pick a real rotterOpen ControlsOK, that's a very fair point. I'm still quite liking the idea of an expensive keeper but if I can come up with a cheap combo I like I might go for it. Although I'm not 100% convinced about Given, or Villa generally to be honest.
I've only just started looking at my team properly- back at work today after a week's holiday. Back at work (I'm in Oz so my day is just starting) and my workrate is already approximately half what it was before FPL started.Open Controlsif you do go expensive i personally prefer cech. imo hart's score peaked last season and a score he'll never reach again. champions league this year, a possibly more ambitious city side. can see some more caves but less clean sheets
Open ControlsPlus you can pick up Kompany or Clichy for 6m, whereas Cole and Ivanovic (the only Chelsea defenders I'm looking at unless Bosingwa nails a place) are 7.5 and 7m respectively.
Open ControlsAnother point (that may be neither here nor there - but something to think about nonetheless), is that if Hart is in your team, it's because you're going for his season total of clean sheets. In other words, he's there for most, if not all GWs.
The 7m striker on the other hand, is (depending on the fantasy manager of course) drafted in when he has a good run of fixtures, and replaced with another when his fixtures stiffen up. Generally speaking, strikers at that price point are not fixture-proof. So it's not a fair comparison comparing the score of a 7m GK to that of a 7m striker over 38 GWs.Open Controlsdecent shout when you put it like that. chelsea's defenders are annoying as all the rotation threats are the best for attacking points, really frustrating
Open Controls
Why does everyone have alcaraz? INCLUDING me... maybe wigan's easy games? haha any alternatives anyways? how do people feel on charlie adam? i have him but not sure whether to swap him at leaste for few games till we see what is happening
Open Controlsno matter how easy wigans games are they are going to concede. remember last season? lost to blackpool on opening day was it?
It's wigan, they were in a relegation battle last season and even if they do have 3 promoted teams n a row they will concede. get him out imoOpen ControlsYeah fair point but who to replace him with? I am thinking sunderland might have a good season so maybe bramble or brown but then they dont have an easy first run of games
Open Controlsbruce has hinted that both will likely start... whats ur defence atm? if u dont have simpson get him in
Open Controls
Hernandez or Rooney? whats the word on how/where they will play... fromt eh sounds of it hernandez is starting ahead of dimitar but with SAF who knows?
Open ControlsRonney. Chica won’t be starting the first few games said Fergie. And if we go by what David Gill said earlier today United will be signing another attacking midfielder ( i assume he was talking about Sneijder ). If that goes through id say Rooney will be pushed further up like 2 seasons ago with whoever we buy playing in the hole
Open Controlshe was talking about Vucinic... fair point though... and i think rooney could start white hot considering his pre season form. Plus, under the new system he is more likely to get bp over hernandez.
Open ControlsYou sure ? He said "world class" ? Vucinic is not world class , and why would united but another striker when fergie has been talking about replacing scholes
Open Controls
United'll be a squad rotation team, for the most part.
Rooney will play 'most' games, assuming no Champs league midweek, etc.
Hernandez is second, Berbs third. They'll, I assume on last year, trade off with starts, Javier getting the better number/fixtures.
Javier and Berbs play the traditional striker role, Rooney plays the ... well, Rooney role -- ostensibly a striker in a 4-4-2 but roving about at will, linking mid and fwd play.Open ControlsWouldn't be surprised to see United go back to 4-5-1 from time to time now Rooney isn't playing like a sack of shit any more.
That 4-4-1-1 didn't work so well away from home last season, mainly because at least one of Berbatov and Hernandez was playing (or not 'playing', as the case may be).Open ControlsStopped reading at 4-5-1 😉
Largely agree - with the tactical appraisal.Open Controls
