Tonight we’re running our second phase of beta testing on the new site.

Members who signed up before 6pm this evening can now get access to the beta test via this link. Use your existing login details to get access.

As before, there is a welcome article to greet you detailing what is new in this phase. For those who did not take part in the first test, there’s also a link to the original beta test welcome article with full details on the new features available.

Once again this test will run for a limited period. Please leave your feedback on the beta test site comment thread, not on this article.

Just to stress – this is a test of a new site that will be available to all – not just for members.

Many thanks to those who take part in this latest test.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

hey guys, long time no see... i found another site towards the end of last season that was no where near as helpful as this site but allowed you to load your team and you could load friends teams and it would allow you compare your players head to head during the gw. it also predicted price rises for your players. but i cant remember what the site was. any ideas?

more and more i'm liking the look of benyoun over any chelsea mid... his 7.0 price tag and the way AVB is playing him makes me want to pick him over both malouda and lampard

yeh exactly... malouda has assured his spot i think and will score more than lamps. kalou at 7.5 is good but he is a rotation risk with sturridge and ramires. Will have to wait til all the friendlies are played out to decide i reckon

Hodgson is at least acknowledging that our defence needs tightening up 😉

Foster would rotate perfectly with Given but I'm expecting him to come in at 5.5 which puts him out of my price bracket for a rotator.

I've been playing with my team for 2 days now, and I've come up with a couple of possibles... I always seem to end up with Cech, Ruddy, Kompany, Brown, DeLaet, Silva, N'Zogbia, O'Hara, Suarez and then the two different variations I have are:

    Hughes+Alcaraz, Malouda+Mcarthy, Bent+Beckford
    S.Taylor+Baines, Moses+Hoolahan, Zamora+RVP

    What do you think?

second combination is much better imo, and delaet and brown are not guaranteed starts, u might choose regular starters for that

I'd imagine Brown is guaranteed starts- he surely wouldn't have agreed to a move from being bench-fodder at United to being bench-fodder at Sunderland, would he? And I would have thought De Laet was first choice too, but I might be wrong...

Cheers for the advice though. I like the look of the second option too, but the midfield looks pretty poor... a lot of the teams posted on here seem to have fairly week midfields though I guess.

    Begavic,Given
    Kompany,Olsson,Enrique,R.Johnson,O’Shea
    Silva,Downing,N’Zog,Modric,Dempesy
    Rod,Ba,Suarez

    Keepers rotate well all season
Will play Kompany every game, other def will rotate depending on home games which also rotate well.
    Midfield will play everygame
Suarez and home striker to play

Hmmm... good defensive tactic - i rate it
Forward line is very weak and its reflected by ur mids. U need to downgrade modric and dempsey/downing to a 6.5ish option. There a couple of good buys and upgrade ba - to say zamora?

agree with ozz and toure is gonna miss the first couple of games, after that and if last season form remains, kompany be higher in the pecking order than lescott. however how city will deal with rotation for CL is a different matter, as in the euro cup last season they were just playing their B team there. CL is going to be different however.

What are you going to do to get Chelsea offensive cover for gw 2-3?

There is none of the front 8 that you can swap for a lamps/malouda/drog/torres without a hit.

      Don't think to longterm.

You need more penalty takers imo.

not very exciting, jaglieka and cahill are not a goal threat, so you are betting on the defense of two teams that make runs of form.
adam is rotation risk, and delap is 35 years old and he's not picking many assists as his long throws do not result directly in goals anymore, there is always a deviation somewhere that counts as assist.

I agree the defence isn't too superb. Personally I would never consider a defender from Bolton, Coyle is a very attack minded manager and subsequently cleansheets will be limited.

Jags isn't the worst option but I wouldn't go for any Everton defenders beyond Baines.

if he was a team with a good CS prospect, then we wouldnt be having this conversation, however if im looking for a goal threat defender, id turn for huth hangland, they play at teams that at least are solid defensively at home.

    RMT PLEASE

    Given,Ruddy
    Luiz, Kompany, Hughes, Simpson, Bramble
    Malouda, VDV, N'Zogbia, Taarabt, Sinclair
    Rooney, Zamora, Holt

Looking for a balanced side. Jumped on the Holt bandwagon for now. Have a feeling that VB will play Malouda and Luiz from the start and Zamora's fixtures look tasty.

    Any thoughts gents/ladies?

oak... malouda isnt a rotation risk. if they continue playing 4-2-1-3 or something very similar he is nailed on. KAlou and Benayoun are at higher risk of rotation with Ramires and Sturridge.

Holt is the best option in that price range imo. He has the fixtures in gw's 1,2,4 to get returns. Sell after that if you're not happy with him.
Graham at swansea is another option, I'd prefer holt though.

Don't like your defense at all.

      Cheaper better options all round.

Jagielka and Cahill aren't worth the price period for the teams they play for considering their starts. O'Shea is the most expensive Sunderland player. Get Brown or Bramble instead. Enrique likewise with Newcastle. Shawcross could be good later on, but his bonus points have diminished and he has tough fixtures.

Yeah saw you post that earlier. Why do you think he's worth the extra?

Brown and Bramble are both available at 4.5. O'Shea will most probably play at left back, and he's never been known to be a particularly good attacker.

If anything, both Brown and Bramble are better prospects at set pieces.

I dunno about that. Sunderland defense seems pretty set to me apart from one CB selection.

              O'Shea Bramble Brown/Turner Bardsley

Bramble, Bardsley and O'Shea are assured, with Bramble being the cheapest at 4.5. Brown and Turner will fight it out for the last slot.

man city need to strtch their squad if they are to compete in both PL and CL. their owners are arabs, and since unfortunatly i live in that part of the world, i know that the exposure they need will come from the CL and not the PL (which comes second in popularity, way behind La Liga)
thats why personally im a bit careful about city players. at the moment, cnt see beyond komapny/silva.

Just saved the standard pic and fiddled in Photoshop 🙂

I like the team, mixture of solid, flair and a little risk - hopefully covered by 3 starters on the bench (will swap Barton in after Arsenal game I expect)

I did have N'zog in place of Benayoun and Lescott in place of Baines, I'll fiddle more no doubt but definitely going for a team approach this year rather than blowing all the cash on a Lampard/Rooney type combo. Carroll will score big with the new emphasis on attack Liverpool have, he'll be the one it's routed through...

Hey guys. My first RMT of the season and hopefully the last one. I know how annoying the entire process of rating team can be.

At this point my team is the following:

    GK: Given, Ruddy
DF: Rafael, Hughes, Company, Sympson and Orr.
MF: Lampard, Silva, Barton, Moses and Taarabt.
    ST: Rooney, Suarez and Holt.

I doubt that I will be making a lot of changes. It depends the most on Arsenal, I really fancy Ramsey as a player so I will be monitoring the Cesk/Nasri situation closely.

    Any thoughts?

I don't think he will start every game but even when he doesn't start he seems to be one of those players who comes off the bench and scores anyway

He is a definite risk but I trust him more then players like Sinclair, Taarabat etc and the rest of my team is all very risk free so he is my gamble 😀

Fair enough. At the start of the season i like to try and have players 'guaranteed' starts because if with these there will be some surprises.

I forgot to mention that I have 0.5 in the bank which allow me to add another MUFC or Chelsea player (Nani/Young/Benayoun) in GW2.

Not having enough Chelsea coverage can always backfire badly.

Yeah tricky first fixture and too many ?'s about starters. Key is imo to have the right priced players to do a straight swap. Rooney/rvp can become torres/drogba, vdv + change can become malouda.
Only chelsea attacker you really need to decide on pre season is lampard.

Stoke away isn't the type of fixture malouda usually gets returns from. He's the stamford bridge bully against lesser teams. Vdv is much more likely to have a good gw1 and rise. Not the end of the world if you have to make that trade early in gw2 though.

so what can happen at stoke that makes you think you want to sign malouda?

Just if he starts? Is that necessarily a sign he will continue to do so, though?

Made a couple of changes from my last team, how does this look?

    Part 2

    Al habsi - Given
    Kompany - A cole - Wilkinson - Simpson - Orr
    VDV - Silva - Nzog - Watson - Barton
    Rooney - Holt - Zamora

    2m in bank

3 x 4m defenders is risky but logic is that i will pretty much stick with a core 2 of cole and kompany and rotate the third playing 3/4/3 or 3/5/2 where possible

VDV is only in for the home fixture vs everton where he could do well - this also provides an opportunity to see how chelsea line up in a tough away fixture @ stoke (likely to be low scoring imo) - 2m in the bank to sway either way to lamps/malouda/benayoun etc...

Many said the same about konchesky 😉
Nah I agree, him and downing would make the most dangerous left wing we've had for a long time and would give Carroll the wide service he needs. Especially with both GJ and kuyt prone to drifting inside from the right.

at his price, konchesky still did ok just from clean sheets despite being a flop. That's why it's better to take 'gambles' on cheap players... 'failure' is often still reasonable value!

I love Kelly, I'm his biggest fan, but he's looked weak in pre-season, has stood off far too often, leading to us conceding goals. IMO, Flanagan is a better option at RB for us, he gets stuck into tackles which sadly makes him prone to yellow cards though. We'll have to wait and see if King Kenny feels the same!

Obviously as per most seasons I'll end up playing my wildcard in week 3 probably.

zamora is a safe option if you're worried about suarez (And could be very useful this season)

rafael - i agree - you need to choose someone else in his place

riise - reasonable choice but hangeland or hughes may be safer fulham options

kelly - ok but keep an eye out for a new liveprool LB e.g. enrique who would be a great signing ig he goes to liverpool

lamps - overpriced but not a major mistake if you think he'll do well. That's your decision

Having a trouble deciding on Villa coverage. To me Bent is the btter option as N'Zogs will take time to settle and Albrighton just isn't going to bring home that many points imo.
I could change Bent for Suarez if he looks like starting the season I guess but have a good feeling about Bent.
Midfield wise there isn't really anyone in N'zogs price range worth considering.
Who are other people going for?
