King Kenny to talk it over with Suarez before deciding if his main man starts. Dempsey returns to the Fulham fold as Senderos stakes a claim for centre-half. Norwich deny Holt to Leicester stories. Reports claim Torres will start the season on the bench and Arsenal reject a fresh Barcelona bid for Cesc Fabregas just this morning. Here’s today’s Scribbles:

Kenny Dalglish will decide on whether to start Luis Suarez next week after discussions with the player himself. Suarez reports for training in a few days time but, wary of the forward’s exertions in this summer’s Copa America, the Liverpool boss clearly does not want to over extend his star man:

He’ll be back next week some time. We’ll start thinking about him then. We’ll just see with Luis when he comes in. He’s had a fantastic summer. He should be pretty happy with himself and pretty confident looking forward to the start of the season.

We need to be careful with every player. So we’ll see how he is when he comes in and have a discussion with him. We can’t predict how he is going to be like.

Clint Dempsey made his first Fulham start under Martin Jol last night in the club’s Europa League match with RNK Split . Back after playing in the Gold Cup this summer, the American took the place of Matthew Briggs on the left of midfield. Jol also benched Chris Baird, moving Aaron Hughes to right-back and giving Philipe Senderos a chance to partner Brede Hangeland in the heart of defence.

The Hangeland-Hughes partnership central defensive pairing has offered plenty solidity in Fantasy terms over the past couple of seasons, though with Jol just through the “In” door, it’s perhaps too early to read deeply into last night’s XI. If Senderos is offered regular starts under Jol, however, a starting price of 4.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) will surely tempt more than a few Fantasy managers.

Norwich have moved to deny stories suggesting Grant Holt is on his way to Leicester. Speculation arose yesterday that suggested the forward was set to join the Sven Goran Eriksson revolution but the Canaries have issued a statement saying:

“There is absolutely no truth at all in the stories saying we have accepted a bid for Grant Holt. Our captain is simply not for sale.”

Reports have surfaced this morning concerning Andre Villas-Boas’ first XI thoughts ahead of next weekend’s game at Stoke. Fernando Torres is set to be benched for the match at the Britannia, with Didier Drogba leading the line, flanked by Florent Malouda and, according to the Mirror, Daniel Sturridge. Sturridge is, of course, suspended for the first three games of the upcoming season, so the speculation is probably unfounded.

Darren Fletcher has taken part in his first training session since the end of last season. The midfielder has struggled to shake off the effects of a virus that sidelined him for a few months in 2010/11 and although he won’t be ready for first-team action just yet, his return will be a major boost for Sir Alex Ferguson.

Jonathan Woodgate played the full 90 minutes in Stoke’s Europa League match with Hajduk Split last night. Signed as a free agent after his contract at Spurs ran out, Woodgate comes in at 4.5 in FPL and if (big if, perhaps) he can stay injury-free, Woodgate could be something of a bargain next season, with Robert Huth at 6.0 and Ryan Shawcross at 5.0 in comparison.

Ah, the Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona saga. Reports this morning suggest the Spanish champions have had a new bid rejected by the Gunners. Arsenal are reportedly holding out for £40m and won’t budge on this one. Arsene Wenger will be hoping this deal comes to fruition one way or another soon- the nightmare scenario for Arsenal would be a final-day transfer away from the Emirates for Fabregas, giving the Gunners plenty cash but no time to spend it.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

But he could drop for four weeks first, depending on ownership @ week 1. So gains after week 5 might only offset drop from previous weeks.

Yes your midfield is too weak (especially when you think of it purely in terms of budget you have invested in that area of your team).

Your strikeforce is great though so that may make up for it. Good luck.

Your midfield depends on when Dyer gets injured, Moses lives up to his band wagon, Benayoun gets more than 2 and Taarabt hit the ground running in the Pl. Its not bad but a bit lukewarm for my liking.

I see it the same as buying any sub, except with a guarenteed play if one of my subs is out. Plus I do have another sub defender. If I have 4 defenders out I agree I will definitely have to revise my plan.

You are essentially playing with a squad of 14 if you do that. Rafael is the only player he is every going to come in for.

If you had a 5m sub from another team, they could play in place of any of your team should they get injured.

briggs is a risk...simpson at newcastle may be better.
Stick with R Johnson tho...he can be a bonus magnet...and score the odd goals...wolves first few fixtures not terrible either.

I think Silva is overpriced for a non goal scoring mid...but he's far from shabby.

Pratley has poor early fixtures and not proven in Prem...that means you'll be playing one or two of Moses, Pratley and Taarabt each week...maybe go for a safer bet of Ohara or Duff.

Drogba is a rotation risk...but possibly one worth taking. Rod is worth a punt too...although wigan are so unpredictable.

Taarabt is quality have no worries there everything goes through him
Briggs who would you change to?
Delaet prob wont play him but a guranteed starter

What would you do to change then Ms.Red19

        Ok few problems there

Pratley is an attack minded mid but not a striker...he is unproven at prem level and Bolton's fixtures are pants
Taarabt is not proven prem quality...no one knows how he will do.
Briggs should become anyone who will actually play. Pick him you are down to 14.
Delaet- never pick someone that you wouldn't be prepared to start with...He is also unproven at this level though.

Too many risks for me also.

Ok you're keen on Taarabt so keep him.

And De Laet is not bad for 4m.

Briggs may get you 0 most weeks, I'd prefer having someone come in who will at least be guaranteed pitch time. I really can't see him starting, but you could monitor the situation.

Moses take the put everyone else is!

Pratley.. dat is up to you!! Unless you downgrade elsewhere.

Decent enough team but i think u should swap nani (not guarranteed a start) for someone cheaper and upgrade gervinho to van persie. Perhaps also steer clear of suarez for the first couple of weeks. Finally, bear in mind with cahill that bolton's fixtures aren't great and in terms of jags that everton are notoriously slow starters.

Hughes and Jags are solid if uninspiring picks.
Cahill is not great - look at gamweeks 2-4, ouch.
Enrique only if he moves to Pool and then will he go straight into the 1st team - unlikely.
Nani is risky but could pay off, I think Young might be a better pick if you want United.
Silva - yep, I think he could collect points this year.
Malouda - good for Chelsea cover and probably the one I'd pick.
Bale - VDV is obviously a better but more costly choice, I'm not a fan.
Gervinho - could be a great pick, direct and what Arsenal need, a risk though as unproven in the PL
Suarez - yep, will he start Gameweek 1?
Subs - will you ever want to start with any of them>

yes, but tends to gets subbed around 70 mins often. I find he's a bit unpredictable. From Stoke's mid i would choose either walter's or etherington. Don't go near that lazy bastard jones or any defenders given are opening fixtures. I've got walters in my team.

it is absolutely ridiculous! Best value player. Fact. I cannot begin to explain my frustration at this whilst at the same time I am glad everyone is avoiding him. "he has tough fixtures". whatever. He plays up front for a strong Prem team and is valued at £6m mid! 12 goals last season and he only started clicking in the 2nd part of the season. Anyway, I am getting boring on this so I will go get a life...and a glass of walter to calm down.

Of course not but I would play him in all of those games as I fancy him to score. He got 12 goals last season, mainly since Jan. He is pivotal to the way Stoke play. And he is a genuine striker priced as a mid. Even as a £6m forward he would be decent value. It is just nuts!!

It was just a knock, he's fine, just because he's not a big girl like most of the other players! If u look at the fixtures carefully you will find that walter's actually scored against chelsea at the brit last year. Also stoke's record against wet brom is incredible- hence the song "we always beat west brom". Finally, norwich away is hardly the toughest fixture.

    Baines/Rafael/Kompany - Wilkinson/De Laet
    Thomas/Moses/Malouda/Jarvis - Vaughan
    Suarez/Rooney/Gervinho

3-4-3 starting. Almost all in starting line up have good fixtures apart from in game week 1 and 2. I have gone for a good spread of teams instead of picking two from same team.

An opinion is that can you afford to spend 9 mil on an unproven PL performer in Gervinho? Why not downgrade to a cheaper striker and upgrade either Thomas or Jarvis as your mids look a tad weak imo.

Really like the keeper combo as I have the same.

Not 100% on Rafael yet, but could be risk that pays off.

Yeah, its a good point. I saw him against FC Koln though and he did not seem phased at all with being physical and he seems to overly active anyway, thats why I took the punt on Gervinho. Thomas upgrade does look very appealing though. Maybe get Cox from WBA(he is in form in pre-season) and use that cash to get a Arsenal midfield instead? like Ramsey?

    Afternoon

Any takers for Dzeko? If he starts at weekend I figure he is good for the season opener.

City will prob start with number 9 with Tevez out, and Balo wide so Dzeko as he has been in pre season to lead the line.

I think he is better punt than Balo and Agureo if he is unfit for week 1.

Ramsey is in fine form and he scores goals unlike Wilshere. Although he might be trying to improve on that this season. Rosicky had a terrible season last year, and he scored his first goal for a year in pre-season, he might be back with a vengence but is a rotation risk. Dont go for Nasri/Fabregas.

Bloomin Alan Brazil mentioned it on TalkShite this morning ...without any source. No one questioned him about it. Just said he read it somewhere. What an idiot!

On and surprised to see not many here punting on Tim Cahill. Think he is a decent shout with his opening fixtures. With VDV tough fixtures, Silva im abit undecided if he can produce in fantasy terms. I reckon Cahil & Kuýt offer good value

Cahill was great for me last season before he went off to Asian Cup.

Meireles is great but I'm wondering how often he'll play.

      +1 Cahill

I also think Jags is a good value shout for first 6 weeks for 5.5m. No rotation threat either !

I just cant include Jagielka based on baines role in the team.

He offers so much. Can easily see him hoover up the Bps along with the set pieces and cs bonus .

        Prob my capt week 2.

Agreed, Silva GW1 and then Cahill in. When he scores he tends to keep scoring until he breaksdown.

Cahill looked very uninspired in the preseason games Ive seen.
Prolly turn it up for the season.
Kuyt is only worth it to me when he is playing striker.

Thoughts on this team gents, do you think Lamps is taking too much of my budget up. Should I spread the cash spent on Lamps across my team?

    Given
    Kompany Luiz Alcaraz
    N'Zogbia Lampard Taarabt Silva
    Holt RVP(C) Zamora

I think Lamps is going to score a lot of points, but I still think at 12 he's too expensive.

Lamps to Downing or alike would make Zamora to Carroll/Suarez or Bent possible.
