The second instalment in our series of Members articles looking at Fantasy consistency sees defenders come under the microscope. Aiming to highlight those players who week-in, week-out offer solid returns, we’ve taken a larger sample size than the previous Goalkeepers article and analysed the top twelve in terms of points per game in 2010/11.

Although there are four Chelsea players here -in addition to two from Man City – the Blues defenders most definitely vary in average returns and consistency. Who’d have thought, after all, that Ashley Cole was the least reliable Fantasy pick of our featured quartet last season?

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Swap lescott for Kompany - Save 0.5
      You are missing a midfielder??
Not sure on Ashley Young as he is a big rotation risk. Go for Bale or someone who is def gonna get a start (If spurs game happens)

So I think, impose a curfew. That way, anyone you arrest is almost certainly guilty of something.

Next, the whole hammer and tongs approach, block every exit but one, and use water cannons as the hammer to break against the anvil of a shield wall. Catch everyone that hasn't run, and continue to maneuver the crowd into a no-escape situation.

Getting tough with these losers is the only thing they'll understand. Unfortunately, it won't happen as the use of water cannons/rubber bullets/tear gas is bound to upset some of the many 'do-gooders' out there.

Even if all of these scumbags were arrested, the sad fact is that the majority would get nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

Hey what about a swap? We could deport them to somewhere like Ethiopia, and take in some refugees in their place.

I'm sure those people would be more than grateful to have the kind of life that these people are obviously so disaffected with.

I feel like taking a 'risky' player, to have a differential

Which one would you pick out of this bunch, who might give the most reward?

    Gervinho
    Benayoun
    Drogba
    Anderson
    Ramsay
    Cleverly
    Aguero
    Maxi
    Modric

One of these I feel will get a lot of points / be good value, but obviously they all have the risk of not playing every game/rotation...?

Have had this team for quite a while now. Have had the obvious daily tinkers but seem to end up with the about same team.

    Given | Ruddy
    Kompany | S Taylor | Ivanovic | De Laet | Briggs
    Nzogbia | Lampard | Nani | Moses | Vuckic
Bent | Drogba | DJ Cambell

0.5 in bank, my only question is to change Nzogbia for sessegnon and change briggs for either Rafeal or Collins, to strengthen my resources a bit.

Reports suggest lamps, ivan, nzog and bent are all a bit of a doubt but pretending they were all fine, what do you think?

It's a good squad, I think your Briggs switch is a good idea, although I don't think doubling up on villa defence or switching to Rafael is a good idea...Ivanovic I'm not so sure on either!

      Maybe:

      Lampard>Malouda
Briggs>Brown (Good rotation with S Taylor)
      N'Zog>Yaya

      Just an idea 🙂

My 2 picks that I wanted to be for the entire year would have been Lamps and Ivanovic, I think a lot of people will go with Malouda which is always tempting but Im hoping I will reap the rewards for sticking with Lamps.

Briggs is my last sub and hoping that maybe he could be a coleman.

I like yaya, had him last year, but everyone seems to reckon he will be playing a more defensive role in midfield.

I would love to have another Man u shirt in my squad though

    Guys plz RMT:

    Kompany enrique alex (alcaraz orr)

    Malouda nani silva nzogbia moses

    Gervinho anelka (holt)

    1) Should I start enrique or alcaraz?

    2) Do I have a good enough side?

    3) Who should be my captain?

    4) I think gervinho would play even if RVP was fit coz arsenal have 2 many injuries and doubts

Good team, except Anelka and Alex, who I don't see starting - I'd switch them for nailed-on starters and you're good to go.

JannyB, I c anelka as a starter, coz I doubt drogba n torres will play in the same team, but anyways, I have 0.5 in the bank if I remove anelka I'll have 9.0, who else would u suggest 4 his position?

If u go to the fantasy site and go to transfers, u will c the only c.b without a doubtful sign 2 his name other than terry, is alex, so I'm nailed on him

I like the Anelka pick and I think he will start on the right with Malouda on the left and Torres/Drogba in the centre.

      1. Alcaraz

      2. It is a good side (although don't know your keepers)

      3. Nani/Silva

      4. Not a question, but Gervinho will play for Arsenal anyway.

The keepers might not do to well over the season, but I suppose you can transfer Al Habsi after the first few gw.

A couple of quandaries for you boys & girls…

    A) Silva & Drogba; or
    B) Malouda & Suarez (assuming he's fit obviously)

    and then

    A) Lescott & Sinclair; or
    B) Kompany & Taraabt

    Thanks team.

With Ivanovic and Luiz carrying knocks would you guys agree that Bosingwa is most likely to fill that Right back slot?!

I think Bosingwa is the best right back they have anyway, Ferreira aint guna get it regular & if Luiz doesnt start its Ivanovic or Alex to partner Terry in the centre. so Bosingwa Terry Alex Cole. Thats how I see it as it stands!!

Could a call off of a few games create a super early double GW?

Last season the DGW's made me. Those were the weeks I made the big scores and beat the masses (who didn't play them well)

    Tweaks...

    Given | Al Habsi
    Bains | Richards | Gabbidon | Bramble | Simpson
    Malouda | Downing | N'Zog | Taarabat | Moses
    Aguero | Suarez | Zamora

    Thoughts? Marks out of 15?

Getting close to the final squad now. Need some input. Worried about having the same team as everyone else who reads this website so trying to keep a bit of individuality.... and I don't think any of my friends read this website!

Please rate out of ten and tell me any obvious changes to make:

    Given (Ruddy)

    Kompany, Gibbs, Kelly (Assou-Ekotto, Givet)

    VDV, A.Young, Moses, Bale (Eagles)

    Suarez, Bent, Holt

    £1m in the bank....

Regarding value: All well and good, but captain choices are not about value, and they make a huge difference.

For example, if you had a player who was guaranteed to get exactly 20 points per game, and cost 40m, you'd be stupid not to get him. Because that would equal 40 points from him per game. The rest of your team would be shit, but it almost wouldn't matter.

    thinking of doing:

    A.cole>Baines
    Lescott>Agger
