The second instalment in our series of Members articles looking at Fantasy consistency sees defenders come under the microscope. Aiming to highlight those players who week-in, week-out offer solid returns, we’ve taken a larger sample size than the previous Goalkeepers article and analysed the top twelve in terms of points per game in 2010/11.

Although there are four Chelsea players here -in addition to two from Man City – the Blues defenders most definitely vary in average returns and consistency. Who’d have thought, after all, that Ashley Cole was the least reliable Fantasy pick of our featured quartet last season?

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I know the bonus points are the difference between winning and losing. In recent days there has been too much made of what type of player is likely to benefit from the new system. Thats fine but still remember most points will still come from good old fashioned goals, assists, appearances and clean sheets so dont over over think it. Take care of the pennies and let the pounds take care of themselves....

Well not to get political, but it's exactly the same as all the warnings the Labour government were given, saying that if you attack Iraq it will make us a terrorism threat. The 07/07 bombing was their day, and maybe this is the Tory's day.

Its the "more for less" agenda.
People have been saying (and this stuff in London I dont think is proof of it-but it will come) that there are more important things than purely pandering to the markets and without properly supporting public services serious problems will result.

The only way you could control this sort of violence would be through something akin to what Assad is currently doing in Syria.

TBH the police presence seemed to be inflaming the situation at times.

The thing is that riot police can't move as fast as youths on bikes who are organizing themselves on BBM.

Water cannons/tear gas could potentially defuse the situation, but there would be a massive risk of escalation.

I thought that, but not so sure the new bonus system will reward defenders so much. Man City may be less solid defensively if Mancini attacks as promised, but Villa may be stronger with McLeish and Given - though having Given I don't want a second Villa defender...

Armies 'win' by conquest and destruction.
        Police 'police'.

Nope, very good choice as Mikel and Essien are injured, leaving only Ramires, Benayoun, McEachran, Romeu and Lampard who has a throat infection to play in midfield. Unless you think McEachran and Romeu are gonna be preferred then you should get him, thats assuming Lamps can play Sat and Ramires is picked above him. Basically, I think he'll start a fair few games and the most likely one is Stoke.

        Essentially agree with Tom.

McEachran will now get his chance in the holding role, although Ramires has played there for Brazil.

Either way, losing BOTH Ess and Mikel bodes well for Benayoun making this right midfield area his own. Frank will play left of the middle 3.

I know there's a potential bandwagon in overhyped AJ, but 1.5pts saving on Zamora to have someone with same (decent) early fixtures and no matter which way you look at it, has looked the best of the Fulham attackers in pre-season and I think Jol will respect that.

He makes use of the Bumper Book Of Quotes he got for his birthday I'll give him that.
Gotta say though, the only footballer worth following on twitter. A class apart to that bore Ferdinand.

Captain choices pour moi (VC in brackets):

    GW1 Carroll (Silva)
    GW2 Malouda (Rooney)
    GW3 Malouda (Carroll)
    GW4 RVP (Silva)

Choice of RVP, Rooney, Carroll, Silva, Malouda

One key player from each of the sides I think will finish 1-5th and will also score the most goals. Leaves my defence absolutely appallingly bad though.

Im really surprised the number of teams with only 1 big hitter up front, I know it wasnt a good season for strikers last season but I think that will be vastly different this, im struggling with the fact I'll probably have to settle for only 2.

Please provide feed back on my team:

    Given, Ruddy
    Kompany, Smalling, Luiz (Enrique, Simpson)
Moses, Taarabt, Nani, Y Toure (Sinclair)
    Torres, Suaraz, Saha

Any one know of any good goalkeeper combinations i.e. home/away rotation?

Also i have gone with Torres, as he has to start for £50m, potentially transferring to RVP in GW4.

I'd rather Rooney than Torres....this week, next week and the week after that...Saha is also a bold shout considering Everton's usual lameness at the start of the season.
