Back in the routine yet? Maybe another familiar regular is what you need to reacquaint yourself with the route to the weekend Fantasy deadline.

We’ve duly published our first Captain poll of the season, canvassing your views on the destination of the Fantasy armband ahead of the season kick-off.

Straight way, we’ve got an interesting one.

Doubts surrounding the fitness of Robin Van Persie and Luis Suarez level the playing field a little, while Nani and Wayne Rooney will catch the eye, though both may look a risk against a West Brom side who will surely be well-drilled by the crafty Roy Hodgson. Perhaps a gamble on Fernando Torres at Stoke is in order? But then Didier Drogba could easily start at the Britannia, such is the uncertainty surrounding the Andre Villas-Boas teamsheet.

    Is there any better 4 mil defenders? DeLaet?

    Critical analysis in any shape or form would be apreciated as I feel somewhat unsettled!

    Tchoyi / Taarabt / Aguero / Drogba / Nani / RVP have been in my thoughts, plus the likes of Cashley and doubling up or Aston Villa DEF with Young.

    I prefer A. Johnson right now to Holt, just have a feeling Norwich will be relegation fodder all season really.

    has anybody considered gervinho? with arsenals plague of injuries and nasri on his way... whats wrong with him? he was full of life in the pre season and saw plenty of minutes.

      I think the general consensus is to wait and see of new arrivals to the premier league, otherwise he'd be more under consideration, like aguero

      I would not say that is a general consensus. I actually plan on playing him and RVP. The two aren't competing for one another's service. If you ask me there's nothing left to wait and see. You certainly can't say he's not up to Premier league snuff, with the several defenders he's put on skates already. I would agree though that there would be two or three others certainly with juicier fixtures that may be better. But in all honesty Newcastle could concede at least 4 goals...

      surman of norwich is 4.5 mil like tiote n he's scored 3 in pre season i think. you think tiote will ger BP? I woul avoid cos he's a dirty cow

      Excellent team. 5 captain choices. Upgrading the defence would only get you Cole points, compared with the benefit of that attack. Only worry lurking is no RVP and a hassle to change the team to get him in.

        They tried the s**t last year essentially, oil and water styles of play. Dude is seriously mechanical and not at comfort in a through-ball, oranje, one touch, link-up types of style. He will be an EPL scouting report victim. He looked hideous playing with Suarez. At least he does take shots occasionaly.

    FUL will be on the attack but skeptical about starting a gk from a promoted side.

    Ok. Discuss this... I've not seen a mere whisper of Charlie Adam in anyone's line up over all the pages on this site. Charlie Adam was a BIG hitter last season. He wasn't so just because he was at Blackpool. After a very good preseason, he looks a cert to start ahead of Lucas, Spearing and Meireles. Will likely take charge of PENS, FK's, get plenty of assists plus goals and shots on target not to mention the odd clean sheet and bonus points. At a cheaper price than Silva, Nani, Lampard etc... I'm surprised at the lack of interest.

      Liverpool have many, many centre-mids, so I wouldn't say he's a cert to start. Gerrard will still be on pens once he's fit, and some free kicks (Adam will get the ones that suit a left-footer). Almost all his goals last season came from pens or FKs, so he'll miss out on some of those.

      You'd expect him to get less bonus with more competition for the baps (although under the new system no-one really knows how the baps are going to work.)

      He's only .5 cheaper than Silva, 1.0 cheaper than Nani.

      He was a big fish in a little pond last season.
      I admit, the complete lack of interest in him is supprising. Abit like Huth really..the price tag just puts me right off him plus City and Chelsea have far more favourable fixtures so he might be someone I'd consider once he has been proven player for Liverpool. I think alot of people just don't think he'll cut the mustard I reckon.

        Think Adam was taking pens in pre season when he was playing....could well turn out to be a big points scorer, think Fergie said his corner kicks are worth 10Million!.....will he play the full 90 week in week out tho......

      All very good points. I think Liverpool will start MF with Downing, Gerrard, Adam & Kuyt. So yeh, in that case, PENS and FK's will suffer but I'm not optimistic on Gerrard's fitness.

      No way is he going to start ahead of lucas or even gerrad, his game time is going to be severley reduced this season but could be still worth a shout term punt for the easy fixtures. I would hold until then.

      Think the Post Office will convert any notes, but not coins. They don't charge a set fee either (some places have minimum commission which would be crap if you're only changing 20).

    Not agreeing with all this business of people bringing in Wigan defenders vs the 3 new boys.

    I have a few points to make, so please keep reading...

    1) Newly promoted teams have 'historically' done well early

    2) Last year, Wigan lost to Blackpool early (not sure if GW1)

    Most importantly
    3) Wigan are expected to WIN, not keep clean sheets. Just because they are favourited doesn;t mean they become immune to goals. I am willing to put money on them conceding in at least 2 of their first 3 fixtures.

      Do Johnson and Orr rotate well? You could get a good combination that rotate well for 9m.

      Obertan is a real punt, not saying it's a bad move but takes guts to go with him so early. Good luck.

      Ramsey is a gem but i cant see arsenal doing well early on. I would avoid Gervinho. Obertan is also a bit dicey. Oh and downgrade Cech!

        need two chelsea in defense/keeper. guaranteed 4 points each for most games. obertan will do well at newcastle. they are desperate. i have been preaching richards for time but will make money out of kompany and gervinho was there just to fill space. got £19 mil to spend on two attackers

        very true. had silva but took him out and had bent but hes injured. could easily have tevez/aguero but they dont seem likely straight away. Also albrighton seems to be pushed to the side yet again while N zogbias fitness is in dispute

    Planning on going Bosingwa -> Luiz for GW2

    Given and Kenny rotate well, as do Givet and Wilkinson for when Jagielka is not playing or has a tough fixture. Though im debating Distin instead.

    Can take a stance on moses after his first few easy games, and Sessegnon can be swapped out for Taarabt (or another 6.5m) later on depending on who is playing best.

    Gervinho will be a nailed on starter imo, especially with the knock to RVP but again can be moved around depending on the form players later on

    Also im pretty sure Benayoun will start GW1 as AVB like some creativity upfront, if not Jags or Sessegnon can step up from the subs and both could do quite well with liverpools defense looking quite shabby having conceded 3 goals in all but one pre season game, and everton always good for an unexpected CS

      Was really impressive on Sunday but may struggle to see minutes in the league. He will star in the League cup though.
