The Premier League earlier today confirmed the cancellation of Tottenham’s scheduled home game with Everton this Saturday. The club’s ticket office was damaged during days of civil unrest earlier in the week and with control of Tottenham High Road not due to be handed back to the local council from police until tomorrow, there is insufficient time to issue a safety certificate for the match.

Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said earlier today:

The very latest situation is that Tottenham and Everton has gone. The police have done a fantastic job, but it’s been a crime scene all week and the council have not had enough time to do what they need. The other nine fixtures are looking positive, subject to any more trouble. At 6pm tonight we will have a very clear picture.

Tottenham elaborated further on the club website afterwards:

Following ongoing discussions with the necessary authorities regarding this weekend’s Premier League home match against Everton, it has now been confirmed that this fixture will be postponed due to safety concerns relating to infrastructure of the High Road and access to the stadium caused by last Saturday’s riots.

The scenario leaves Fantasy Managers with some re-thinking to do ahead of Saturday‘s deadline, then. At the moment, Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka have a combined ownership of 470K Fantasy Premier League (FPL) for the visitors while a look at the home side shows Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Rafael Van der Vaart have been selected by 350K, 198K and 141K Fantasy managers respectively.

Spurs’ opening game of the season is now a visit to Old Trafford and with a difficult home game with Man City in Gameweek 3, short-term investment in their players could drop as a consequence. Everton, on the other hand, open their campaign at Goodison Park against QPR before taking a trip to Blackburn.

The 6pm Premier League update will provide more clues. At present, the nine games look likely to go ahead, meaning there’s a Double Gameweek on the horizon for at least two teams before the season has even kicked-off.

I will be keeping Baines in my team. It is one week missed, easy to bench him, then I will have him in my team ready for his next games which look good.

I think Enrique will start for Liverpool from the off. He has been signed as a left back because Liverpool have a shortage there and need him to play.

We have Aurelio at left back, I think Enrique will make the LB position his own over time, especially if Aurelio continues to be injury prone. But under Kenny's reign, the players will have to earn there place in the team. Enrique starting or playing full games from the off is unsubstantiated. Wait and see.

We won't be playing this fixture until at least game week I'd say. Europa qualifiers midweek this week and next. Unsure about when our first league cup match is but assuming it's not midweek in game week the I'd assume the everton game would go then.

I know due to damage and safety its absolutely right to call this game off, but heres a thought.

Is it perhaps unfair to the other teams in the league? these two teams get extra rest and time to prepare and could even add to their squads before they start the season.

I dont personally care, its sad to see a game called off. i hope no more are as i'm itching to start the season!

What's the preference? If you're going for Villa attacking coverage, who do you choose?

B: Bent, Proven goal scoring machine, 10.0

I think when we know more about the how the bonus points will be won it will become clear right now it seems N'Zog is probably slightly better value. If it becomes clear that either influence or goalscoring gets the majrity BNPs then it will become an easy choice.

Wondering why I'm not seeing Man U's Rafael in many teams? Granted they have a tough start to the season but he's cheap at 5.5 and presumably their first choice right-back. O'Shea and Brown gone as competition. I know Jones can fill in at right-back but he still looks a bargain. Unless most are planning to buy him in once their tough spell is over?

Cameron mentioned today that matches might start earlier. I wonder what FPL will do if matches possibly kick off before the deadline! Seems unlikely as 12 or 1245 KOs seem possible. It would possibly only effect two matches but still.

"Other games in London should go ahead, but perhaps starting earlier in the day,"

12pm kickoff would mean teams announced before the deadline..

That happens quite often though. Matches kicking off before deadline would be something else! Imagine a first minute goal that really would create a bandwagon!!

I know hardly anyone here does the Sun Dream Team (neither do I, this is a first for me as well) and I hate posting RMT’s as I know how annoying they are.

Anyway, me old man has tasked me with doing his team for his work’s league. They all put in £50 (big money!) and he’s promised to split half of the winnings if we win anything.

    Things to bear in mind:
    1) Carling Cup, Europa League, Champions League games all count.
    2) His league has one different rule to the main Sun game, there are only 2 transfer windows during the whole season to make changes.
    3) Do not recieve points for making an appearance.
    4) 5 points for goal scored, clean sheet (gk/def) 5 points, clean sheet (mid) 2 points.
    5) Sun star man 5 points, awarded seven or more in Sun Sport Player ratings is 3 points, concede more than one goal (gk/def) -1.

These rules stike me as favouring the big teams, so here’s my effort:

    Cech (5.0)
    Kompany (5.5) Huth (3.5) Riise (3.0) Enrique (2.0)
    Lampard (7.5) Anderson (3.5) Walcott (5.0)
    Rooney (8.0) Bent (5.5) Suarez (5.5)

4.0 million over budget. Probably need to downgrade one of Bent or Suarez, who would you say is most important to have out of those two? Or could downgrade Walcott, but leaves me with no arsenal cover.

Appreciate this is a very long post but your thoughts would be very much appreciated.

    Cheers all 😀

Ramsey or Wilshere may shine through this time round. Dunno if that shaves much of the team cost but hope it helps

Suarez will continually score over 7 in ratings as should Rooney. Lampard doesn't do enough in games to score 7s most weeks and 7.5m a lot to spend. Walcott should be regular starter as Arsenal have no team left. Silva will score a lot of 7s as always looks good so maybe him instead of lamps and the Sun loves Bale lol

Thanks for the input guys. Want Lampard as he's such a regular scorer and usually immune to rotation, however understand your point about being too expensive and not always scoring over 7.

And yeah maybe need some tottenham coverage in there...they've got Europa league matches as well this year.

A lot of people taking out RVP and Suarez looking at the RMT's. Surely both will start and look good for first few weeks as are relatively fixture-proof

Question for Fulham fans or anyone with some insight - What are the prospects for Briggs starting?
I heard some say John arne's injured, so he may start.
    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

His brother Bjorn Riise is injured not John.

      Briggs won't start.
