Not a bad debut for half an hour, was it? Sergio Aguero’s star turn at the Etihad Stadium has many a Fantasy manager scrambling for a way to fit him in their shiny new Wildcard team ahead of Gameweek 2. According to Roberto Mancini, he’s not even 100% fit yet. Let’s hope they give him penalties, too. Here’s the Scout Notes from last night:

Mancini Tries a 4-4-2
Roberto Mancini dropped Mario Balotelli to the bench for the home game with Swansea. Adam Johnson took the Italian’s place as new boy Gael Clichy started at left-back at the expense of Aleksander Kolarov as Mancini started with a 4-2-3-1. While there’s no doubt about the star of the show, it was noticeable that Sergio Aguero replaced Nigel de Jong upon his introduction.

This allowed City to play him alongside Edin Dzeko up top in a 4-4-2, with Yaya Toure bombing forward from a regular central midfield position. Not to take anything away from Aguero’s performance, of course, but this change in personnel and shape from Mancini helped City really take the game to the Swans. It will be interesting to see if this becomes a more prominent formation for City over the months ahead- certainly, it makes them a better proposition going forward and Aguero has already shown what returns he can offer.

Mancini’s introduction of another new boy, Stefan Savic, also saw another alteration- Joleon Lescott movd to left-back and Gael Clichy played at left midfield in place of the withdrawn Adam Johnson.

Swans Keep on Passing
Brandan Rodgers kept to his passing principles last night. Swansea had the greater possession at the Etihad Stadium and made more passes than any Premier League team over the course of Gameweek1 , but a lack of cutting edge saw the Swans swept aside. Michael Vorm’s debut in the Swansea was almost as eye-catching as Aguero’s- the new signing from Utrecht made an incredible 12 saves, with some of them outstanding stops.

Sweansea’s 4-3-3 was pretty lop-sided; Scott Sinclair was higher and wider up the pitch on the left in comparison to Nathan Dyer on the other flank. Dyer was far narrower and deeper, which enabled Angel Rangel to bomb forward down the flank on numerous occasions.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Splendid, I think that's me sorted then. 0.5 away from my dream team, so having to go with Simpson instead of S Taylor but:

        Given, Ruddy
Terry, Kompany, Brown, Simpson, N Taylor
Cahill, NZog, Sess, Sinclair, N Dyer
        Torres, Aguero, Suarez

I think Torres should be fine, if Drog doesn't get a start against Stoke then he's not starting period.

Aguero's a risk, but he's got to be played after THAT appearance. I keep thinking back to playing it cautious with VDV last year and getting badly burnt. Sometimes piling on is the correct answer.

Your midfield is way weak. Downgrade Modric and use it to upgrade that last midfielder.

Why are you choosing Tiote? He's a dreadful fantasy prospect. Dyer or Surman.

Need help with a 5.0 or less Mid:

    Current team:

    Given
    Cashley, Dunne, Enrique, Senderos
    Silva, Modric, Moses
    Rooney, Torres, Suarez

Ruddy, Tiote, Simpson + 5.0mil left for a mid sub

Anyone got any suggestions - am I mad for thinking of Cattermole?

This purchasing haigh value strikers is making it hard to get a good team together.

That is an incredibly weak midfield, you definitely don't want either Tiote or Cattermole in your team. Tiote scored 1 goal last season and will be booked at least every other game. Cattermole is a liability given his history of yellow and red cards.

Downgrade Modric (he tends to be the pass before the assist) and get someone a bit stronger.

Taarabt needs a new home, but it's good otherwise.

Moses, Sinclair, Surman are really solid budget picks, and Young looks like he'll deliver (even though I prefer Silva).

i thought torres looked sharp and chelseas fixtures are good. you would of thought drogba may of played beinng they were against against stoke but i thought el nino did well.

          Malouda or Torres.

They're about even, but Malouda I think just about has the edge.

    Thinking of swapping

    Silva + DJ Campbell

    for

    O'hara + Bent

Any better 6m midfielders than O'hara?

Really can't see DJ Campbell doing much and Bent has good fixtures. Silva not great fixtures either for a few weeks.

    Help me out fellas

    Given (Ruddy)
Kompany Fabio Cashley De Laet (Senderos)
    Malouda Sess Dyer (silva Moses)
    Rooney Bent Graham

Got 3 subs on bench who i would quite happily have played this week. I have a spare mill too should i need it.
