Not a bad debut for half an hour, was it? Sergio Aguero’s star turn at the Etihad Stadium has many a Fantasy manager scrambling for a way to fit him in their shiny new Wildcard team ahead of Gameweek 2. According to Roberto Mancini, he’s not even 100% fit yet. Let’s hope they give him penalties, too. Here’s the Scout Notes from last night:

Mancini Tries a 4-4-2
Roberto Mancini dropped Mario Balotelli to the bench for the home game with Swansea. Adam Johnson took the Italian’s place as new boy Gael Clichy started at left-back at the expense of Aleksander Kolarov as Mancini started with a 4-2-3-1. While there’s no doubt about the star of the show, it was noticeable that Sergio Aguero replaced Nigel de Jong upon his introduction.

This allowed City to play him alongside Edin Dzeko up top in a 4-4-2, with Yaya Toure bombing forward from a regular central midfield position. Not to take anything away from Aguero’s performance, of course, but this change in personnel and shape from Mancini helped City really take the game to the Swans. It will be interesting to see if this becomes a more prominent formation for City over the months ahead- certainly, it makes them a better proposition going forward and Aguero has already shown what returns he can offer.

Mancini’s introduction of another new boy, Stefan Savic, also saw another alteration- Joleon Lescott movd to left-back and Gael Clichy played at left midfield in place of the withdrawn Adam Johnson.

Swans Keep on Passing
Brandan Rodgers kept to his passing principles last night. Swansea had the greater possession at the Etihad Stadium and made more passes than any Premier League team over the course of Gameweek1 , but a lack of cutting edge saw the Swans swept aside. Michael Vorm’s debut in the Swansea was almost as eye-catching as Aguero’s- the new signing from Utrecht made an incredible 12 saves, with some of them outstanding stops.

Sweansea’s 4-3-3 was pretty lop-sided; Scott Sinclair was higher and wider up the pitch on the left in comparison to Nathan Dyer on the other flank. Dyer was far narrower and deeper, which enabled Angel Rangel to bomb forward down the flank on numerous occasions.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

sorry folks but been away sick for a while and just seen the statement now.sorry for the stupid question but do the points remain from gameweek 1 or are they completely removed and do we start from zero points again from start of gameweek 2? I know we have unlimited free transfers up until next weekend but is gameweek 1 now null and void or do points remain from last weekend? thanks

cheers lads for the confirmation.surely tho it should be the same all round.for example if gameweek 1 points are remaining then mini leagues should start from gameweek 1 also? surely if its left to the administrators it will cause alot of controversy. bit stange if one mini league starts in gw 1 while another mini league starts in gw2

Looks good.I see your jumping on the aguero band-wagon though.I don't think he will be doing what he did against swansea every game however lol.He was excellent when he came on but even the commentators were saying "this is a brilliant time to come on now that the swansea players are tired".And they were, they looked exhausted.Just saying when Kon meets some super fit defenders will he be so good or will he have a grear season?

I'd try to get Cahill instead of Arteta if you could, maybe downgrade Fabio. Baines is taking over set pieces and Arteta just back from injury so would be a bit of a doubt.

    Given (Vorm)

Baines - Bosingwa - Brown (S. Taylor, Tate)

    Yaya - Sessegnon - Sinclair - Hoolahan - Moses

    Rooney - Torres - Bent

I'm thinking maybe Bos to Alex. If not, then Hoolahan to a 6.0 or Sinclair to a 6.5, just not sure who.

nice side..i had a similar dilema

i still think ramsey will have a good season..at 6.5...think too many (me included) are taking out arsenal players after one uninspiring performance and the departure of cf and prob nasri

ramsey had a good pre season and its rare that arsenal don't score

      what do u think?

I don't think Ramsey is good enough for an Arsenal title winning team, but then we've fallen away of late. Surely a club of our stature should have a more imposing player in that position. Wilshere is overrated too at this stage.

These really are two players who should be challenging in two seasons time, but due to the lack of other real quality options are finding themselves pushed to the front and to be honest I'm not sure they are ready. I just don't see a Vieira / Petit / Edu in there at the moment.

Saving it for price rises is something I never really accounted for, but that might be quite a good idea.

Ramsey...I've soured on somewhat. Compared to others in his price range he's not on set pieces and won't get bonus unless he scores, which I think he's less likely to. I'll probably go crawling back to RVP at some point anyway, as my long term plan is Hernandez instead of Rooney.

And yeah Brunt is definitely someone I've got my eye on, bonus this week despite losing AND not scoring is very promising, probably bring him in for Sinclair down the line.

and on that, it's a horrible time, wanting your side to do well, but knowing they're not going to win anything while the clown remains, so each win helps to keep him there but still no trophy.

An exit at this stage may be a case of short term pain, long-term gain as Wenger could move a step closer to the door.

After all, if we are out of the champs lge what does it matter, we'll be in the Uefa and so would not be able to put champs lge games in preference to league games / fa cup games later in the season and with respect to loss of revenue, who cares. They don't spend on the team anyway and it's not as though the big guns are going to leave, as there aren't any left (RVP aside and if we don't sign anyone he'll go next summer). Still at least we're balancing the books

...because I can plainly see the current squad is poor and the club needs to spend some of the Toure / Adebayor / Fabregas money, not to mention 60,000 fans paying an average £50 a game.

No silva all the way. Silva could have had a few more. Forced a good save off vorm early on and hit the bar. With aguero likely to play more think they will work and help each other really well. Plus silva is on free kicks and corners compared to yaya.

      3pts = Watson

    with 13.5 to spend.

    Would like either
    Odemwingie + 6.0mid
    or
    Andy Johnson + 8.0 mid

Also considering Watson for Moses at a cost of .5 extra think he could be worth it considering Watson took the penalty on the weekend.
And who to go for out of Young and Nani? I had Nani to start with but after seeing Young on the weekend am leaning towards him.

Cheers Tosey. Seems there's some uncertainty between him and Rodwell. Not keen on wide players with the new BPs anyway. Need to get Cahill in there I think.

I'd get Suarez over bent. Also get rid of De Laet, he got bonus points but was awful.

I'm not getting involved with all this buy cheap, sell big business. Too risky, especially if FPL towers servers mess up again. Pick your team with unltd transfers/wildcard and leave it, be safe. Unless you'll all moan again that you coulnd't save your team, even though much of the blame will lay with you.

      Sess or Larsson.

I said Larsson, because he'll be Instrumental in Sundeland this season, so will Sess, as more of an attacking threat.

I'm thinking Barton and Sessegnon could be worth a punt especially this coming week as it's the derby. Could be end to end stuff.

Anyone think Fox is a good option for 4.f MF? On free kicks and looked decent enough.

Amazing how much the majority of folks opinions on players have changed after just one game week. Months and month of RMT's, questions and speculation and most of the players discussed have been turfed whilst wildcard fever takes over. I made one change but changed my mind and swapped it back again. Try and have a little faith in some of your choices, it's a marathon not a sprint.
