Not a bad debut for half an hour, was it? Sergio Agueroโ€™s star turn at the Etihad Stadium has many a Fantasy manager scrambling for a way to fit him in their shiny new Wildcard team ahead of Gameweek 2. According to Roberto Mancini, he’s not even 100% fit yet. Let’s hope they give him penalties, too. Hereโ€™s the Scout Notes from last night:

Mancini Tries a 4-4-2
Roberto Mancini dropped Mario Balotelli to the bench for the home game with Swansea. Adam Johnson took the Italianโ€™s place as new boy Gael Clichy started at left-back at the expense of Aleksander Kolarov as Mancini started with a 4-2-3-1. While thereโ€™s no doubt about the star of the show, it was noticeable that Sergio Aguero replaced Nigel de Jong upon his introduction.

This allowed City to play him alongside Edin Dzeko up top in a 4-4-2, with Yaya Toure bombing forward from a regular central midfield position. Not to take anything away from Agueroโ€™s performance, of course, but this change in personnel and shape from Mancini helped City really take the game to the Swans. It will be interesting to see if this becomes a more prominent formation for City over the months ahead- certainly, it makes them a better proposition going forward and Aguero has already shown what returns he can offer.

Manciniโ€™s introduction of another new boy, Stefan Savic, also saw another alteration- Joleon Lescott movd to left-back and Gael Clichy played at left midfield in place of the withdrawn Adam Johnson.

Swans Keep on Passing
Brandan Rodgers kept to his passing principles last night. Swansea had the greater possession at the Etihad Stadium and made more passes than any Premier League team over the course of Gameweek1 , but a lack of cutting edge saw the Swans swept aside. Michael Vormโ€™s debut in the Swansea was almost as eye-catching as Agueroโ€™s- the new signing from Utrecht made an incredible 12 saves, with some of them outstanding stops.

Sweanseaโ€™s 4-3-3 was pretty lop-sided; Scott Sinclair was higher and wider up the pitch on the left in comparison to Nathan Dyer on the other flank. Dyer was far narrower and deeper, which enabled Angel Rangel to bomb forward down the flank on numerous occasions.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Our options going forwards are a bit shocking at the minute. Sure we won 4-0 but the goals were from a defender, an own goal, a deflection and a defensive midfielder. My advice would be not to put any faith in our attack against a half decent team, unfortunately.

Does anyone feel the same as me that Baines doesn't worth the price in long term. Despite the double game he will have, he will have 5 hard games in row near the end of September Mcy Liv Che Ful Mun ..

My thoughts: Bolton, WBA and Sunderland are going to be quite a bit better than last year.
Liverpool aren't going to have quite the season everyone thinks. Suarez and a couple of others will do good, but their defence won't knit for a while.
Wigan haven't done much strengthening to their team since losing big players, and surely must be considered weaker.
Which means the fact that they mauled QPR must make QPR shit.
Swansea look good. Despite that scoreline.
If Aguero can make such an impact in the circumstances, even against Swansea, he's going to be up their in the top scorers this season.

Can I have some opinions on N'Zogbia and Walters please? Are N'Zogbia owners put off by the fact that he was subbed and looked bad for bonus or do they ignore it as it was a tough game anyway?

Stoke have Chelsea out of the way. Walters OOP, cheap, looked industrious enough against Chelsea. Anyone interested?

Makes Ivo look like great value at 0.5 cheaper than Cole and Terry.

Can't make up my mind on this.

Silva + Rooney or Young + Aguero?

Silva had a great game last night but i noticed he played higher up the pitch at times and his un-selfish nature meant he was usually laying off to the guy supplying the assist. I know he scored his goal but i'm not sure his un-selfishness will translate well in fantasy terms. Smells a bit like Modric imo.

I really want Rooney in and out of my team all year as he always has the potential to score big and is basically fixture proof but i'm afraid when Hernandez comes back into consideration Rooney will play a more supporting role to 'The Little Pea'. I'm reminded of last year when i put a lot of my eggs in the Rooney basket the first half of the season and ended up falling behind very quickly. It was frustrating watching him jogging behind as Berba and Hernandez cleaned up in front of goal!

Young looked exceptional at West Brom. He really stood out to me as a genuine long term fantasy pick. I can't really see him being dropped by Fergie as he offers too much potential coming in from the left and of course his set pieces. Just looking at his history would suggest Young is a steady point scorer in fantasy terms and with the talent United have compared to his former clubs (no offence meant) I can only see his fantasy score total increasing this season.

Aguero..I chickend out of having him in my team saturday morning fml. I really think he could be massive this year. I know scoring 2 and picking up an assist in 15 mins of his debut looks promising but it was against a deflated Swansea defence. I'm really hoping he can produce the same explosive performances all season long against tried and tested defences. I think on the back of that performance massive fantasy investment is inevitable. I don't want to be the only person who doesn't have him in my mini league when he scores a hatrick witch looks extremely possible!

All these views are just my opinion and more than likely i'll be going with Young + Aguero although either pairing are likley to score big!

I'd love to get the opinion of the forum.

True, my mind is fairly set on it but I just wanted to see if anyone was weighing up the same decision.

the thing with silva is that he is the kind of person who will benefit greatly from agueros runs and goals, more assists than normal i'd think. Silva and Aguero could be a great pair to have but thats just my thoughts.

I hear you loud and clear mate. Silva will benefit greatly with Aguero in front of him but i'll be lacking United cover in my team then. Plus I don't like having 3 players from 1 team in my squad.

I think you've thought this through so much that it will be hard to help you ๐Ÿ™‚

For me personally I'm going to go with Nani and Aguero, the thinking being that I rather have more money invested in City than United as the fixtures stand at this moment. I also echo your sentiments on Silva's effectiveness as an FPL player.

I know. I kind of convinced myself half way through that post ๐Ÿ™‚

The only reason Nani isn't troubling my desicion is because i'm still not sure of his gaurenteed game time. If he was a nailed on starter week in week out it would make my decision that much harder.
