There’s something of a sense of deja vu about this Gameweek. Unlimited transfers, the chance to pick and choose your squad from scratch all over again-the “Rate My Team” posts are rampant this Friday afternoon.

As the site kicks into overdrive, then, we hope to bring you a little calm in the midst of all the mayhem with our “Scout Selection Committee Picks” ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.

Michal Vorm had a sensational debut at Man City. The Swansea keeper recorded 12 saves in the 4-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium and still finished the game with a Fantasy Premier League (FPL) score of 3 for the Gameweek. A home clash with Wigan will see Brendan Rodgers’ side go on the attack but Vorm, priced at just 4.0, looks in the type of form to keep the Latics at bay.

A home game with QPR gives Leighton Baines the perfect platform to start his Fantasy season on the front foot. Last week’s 4-0 home hiding by Bolton will hardly have instilled confidence in Neil Warnock’s side and Baines’ raids down the left flank should see him feature prominently. Last season’s top-scoring FPL defender is a nailed-on choice in the picks.

Jose Bosingwa seems to have earned the confidence of new boss Andre Villas-Boas. His attacking threat from the back mirrors that of Ashley Cole on the opposite flank and, having been preferred to Branislav Ivanovic at the Britannia last weekend, seems set to continue in the right-back role. Cole offers more certainty but we’ve already went for a big-money defender in Baines- Bosingwa, at 5.5, fits the needs of your Fantasy budget a little better. You can perhaps look to last week’s pick, Alex, if you want to spend that little bit more.

Roger Johnson was immense at the back for Wolves in last week’s 2-1 win at Blackburn. Mick McCarthy’s defence looks a more compact unit with the new skipper marshalling the back-four and Johnson’s influence this weekend will be crucial, as Martin Jol brings his Fulham troops to Molineux fresh on the back of a 3-0 Europa Cup win over Dnipro.

Alex McLeish is hardly renowned for his attacking tendencies. While his teams can be frustrating viewing at times, Big Eck’s safety-first approach bodes well for the Fantasy manager. James Collins and the Aston Villa back line look a healthier proposition this time round and entertain Blackburn at Villa Park, with a clean sheet at Fulham in Gameweek 1 indicative of their potential.

Steve Bruce will approach this week’s home game with Newcastle in buoyant mood. A second-half fightback at Liverpool last week suggests Sunderland may that extra, competitive edge that was missing for much of last season. Stephane Sessegnon was inspirational in pre-season and, playing in the hole just behind Asamoah Gyan, could prove the difference for the Black Cats in the white-hot atmosphere of a Tyne-Wear derby.

Scott Sinclair squares up to Wigan in Swansea’s first Premier League match at the Liberty Stadium. The winger was top scorer for Brendan Rodgers’ side last term and although he’s stepping up in class this time round, in the main attacking threat for the Swans. Throw in the fact he’s on penalties and his selection looks a solid one.

Playing at the tip of the Norwich midfield diamond affords Wes Hoolahan plenty license to attack. The low-to-mid priced midfielder is already off the mark this season; he grabbed the equaliser at Wigan last week and with visitors Stoke sampling European action only last night, Norwich’s punishing fitness regime could take advantage of any tiredness in Tony Pulis’ side come Sunday afternoon.

Nani grabs the final slot in the midfield four with a Monday night home clash against Tottenham on the agenda. The clincher was a look back at the corresponding fixture last season; Man United won 2-0, with Nani grabbing a goal, an assist and bringing home the bonus for a fourteen point return. With this in mind, we just couldn’t overlook him.

If Andre Villas-Boas selects Fernando Torres over Didier Drogba for a bruising battle at the Britannia, will he drop him at home to West Brom? The popular train of thought suggests El Nino will be a starter against the Baggies and we’re not ones to disagree here. At Stoke, Torres looked sharper, livelier, hungrier than he ever has in a Chelsea shirt and Roy Hodgson’s side could be onto a hammering at Stamford Bridge this Saturday evening.

Darren Bent scores goals wherever he goes. One of the most consistent forwards in the Premier League over the last few seasons, Bent faces a Blackburn side beaten at home by Wolves last week. The two clubs met in the recent Barclays Asia Trophy during pre-season last month and Villa sneaked it one-nil. No need to asked who grabbed the only goal.

Whatever people say about Lampard he is the fantasy benchmark. He always starts and you can rely on him to be there.

I would start Enrique in my opinion. I dont trust players like Sendaros.

Personally, I'm not giving up on Taarabt yet and he's still on QPR pens and set pieces. Its not unfeasible that they might get a pen tomorrow.

However, like I said, the masses will tell you to go with the Mackem, so that'd be the popular vote.

Anyone else finding FPL stance to allow leagues to be reset to gameweek 2 at discretion of each individual league a contentious issue? We run a money league at work for 30 odd people and the debate as to whether to reset the league has created the biggest amount of unrest you'll ever see, its almost unbelievable. I think we've had 8 ask to drop out already through the fallouts we've had today and yesterday, I dont think no one is speaking to anyone anymore! Had FPL done it automatically some people would still be annoyed but they would be more likely to have accepted it. I wouldn't mind but we're only playing for a profit of a fiver for now, what competition can do to a man! ( We each pay £10, £15 goes to motm and rest split between 1/2/3 overall plus cup comp done by hand in new year)

Feel your pain but most of my work mini-leaguers were happy when they got the GW2 wildcard. It definitely helped soothe some of the soreness over it.

One guy was livid on Monday as he had auto completed his team, not had a particularly good weekend and demanded we all e-mail FPL to complain. Much to his embarrasment (and internal glee) he subsequently had 3 city players and finished as one of the highest scoring managers that week.

Herd mentality describes how people are influenced by their peers to adopt certain behaviors, follow trends, and/or purchase items. Examples of the herd mentality include stock market trends, fashions in apparel, cars, taste in music, home décor, etc. Social psychologists study the related topics of group intelligence, crowd wisdom, and decentralized decision making.

The term herd mentality is derived from the word herd, meaning "group of animals," and mentality, implying a certain frame of mind.[citation needed] However the most succinct definition would be: "how large numbers of people act in the same ways at the same times."[citation needed]

Herd behavior is distinguished from herd mentality because it applies to all animals, whereas the term mentality implies a uniquely human phenomenon.[citation needed] Herd mentality implies a fear-based reaction to peer pressure which makes individuals act in order to avoid feeling "left behind" from the group.[citation needed] Herd mentality is also sometimes[citation needed] known as "mob mentality."[citation

Any team worth it's salt will start with 3 at the back barring injuries or suspensions.

He has 5 mid price defenders, he is likely to have a lot of money in defenders sat on his bench whilst his weak ass midfield stinks it up, bad distribution of funds.

1 expensive, 1 mid and 3 dirt defenders send ing the funds forward is the way to go.

Yes I can see where you're coming from but I still like the look of the defence. I've been trying to figure out where to fit Everton in. Don't trust their defence and I'm also very aware of how they have this tradition of starting off terribly in recent years. Would look at Arteta if he wasn't injured.

Perhaps you could use one more budget defender.

With the extra funds you could then get Arteta or Cahill in midfield. Everton's fixtures are really quite good and I would like cover.

Template strikeforce but it is admittedly very good.

Tarrabt's PPI last week of -11. That is disappointing.

Nomar and fellow FPL managers, do you still have any QPR players? Their fixtures are still pretty awesome but I think everyone is abandoning ship after GW1. Would really like to go against the grain of kneejerk GW1 reactions and perhaps have a QPR attacker. Who would you recommend or should I man the lifeboats as well? Cheers.

keeping Taarbat, as a bencher, seriously dont know about them. I am risking Norwichs Hoolahan, purely cos he scored last week and I remember hearing a lot about him last season. It's pure gut feeling but Norwich just seem a safer bet with a manager like Lambert, he took them from nowhere to the premier league, Holloway type job, probably grasping at straws but going down the charlie adam line of thought...it;s late i am tired, but there is meaning there somewhere

He's in the Guardian team sheets, although that doesn't guarantee anything

    Thoughts?
Worth change Baines to Jags to fund Sess to A. Young

    Given (Ruddy)
Kompany, Baines, Bosingwa (De Laet, Simpson)
Silva (V), Nzogbia, Sess, Mikel (moses)
    Torres (c), Saha, Bent

No better as it is, i'd prefer to play Moses over Obi though, more likely to get in the points i reckon

you wont have to change given in 4 - 5 weeks time but on the other hand bosingwa is no cert in that time either. i have taken the cheaper option of hilario & warnock at 9.5 and its freed up money (1.0) for more important changes up front. just my take on it.

Given and Bos long term. I am leaning to WC GW 4 and so leaning to Hilario but have not made up mind yet. Could easily play with 10 players at home in next 2 weeks but would be major risk.

    hi guys,

please take a look at my team. maybe you like it.

i think i have coverage for chelsea, city, liverpool, everton, villa, swansey which would all bring lots of points and good fixtures ahead.

    what you think?

    Given (Ruddy)

    Senderos Baines A.Cole (Delaet, Simpson)

    Lampard Elmohamady Sinclair Moses (Ferguson)

    Suarez Bent Aguero

dont like senderos, moses, ferguson but had to.

    please rate my team. thanks.

The only way you could change it is if you downgraded Lampard but if your hearts, set your hearts set.

What's the better option for a forward, Holt at 5.5 or Rodallega at 6.5?
