The second gameweek of the Premier League season comes to a close tonight at Old Trafford, as champions Manchester United play host to a Tottenham Hotspur side belatedly starting their league campaign. Injuries force Sir Alex to play an extremely young defence who, along with goalkeeper David De Gea, have an average age of just 22. Unforced however, is the youth in attack for the home side, who also have Javier Hernandez back in their match-day squad.

As for the visitors, Luka Modric didn’t take the trip up the M1 because, according to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, “his head isn’t right” with speculation about his future still rife. Elsewhere, Brad Friedel makes his club debut and Jake Livermore starts after scoring midweek at Tynecastle.

      Friedel played very well, deserves a starting spot at some club, even at his age he still is a top keeper.

      He won't get the starts at spurs anyway, Harry was asked if he was his 1st choice keeper and did everything to avoid the question! Gomes will be Number 1 again this season.

        I just dont get it. If people picked a squad that could compete with gameweek 2 fixtures which, given free rein, i suspect they did then that squad, looking at this weeks fixtures, should be in decent nick for this week too.

              Silva and Suarez look must-haves and I don't have either. Sinclair stays for one more game. Dyer looked far sharper than him on Saturday, and I have both (but Dyer was on my bench).

              Torres out? Talking point of the week. If he can't bulge the net v Norwich then he's not worth having for the rest of the season. Lamps over-priced (agree); Ferguson (dead wood 5th Midfielder - agree); Moses (jury out); hoolahan (agree - benched yesterday).

    the way i see it a player rising in price now aint that important.. whoever you get i can guarantee he wont be in your team all season.. due to injuries, fixtures etc.. so whether you get him at 9.5 or 9.7(silva:() does'nt really matter with the odd player.. last season i had 3 million on the bench last weekend.. gonna hang tight put off my computer and save 2 for next week

      Disagree. Getting on the rises early on allows you to cherry pick the best players. The last gw of the season means sfa as then it it is all about points & form... not price rises.

      Its nothing to do with the people making the picks, its the unpredictable nature of the results.

      Had Silva wk 1 but dropped for Cahill wk 2 which was my 1 big mistake (-8 pt swing 10 v 2) so prob bring Silva back wk 4. Maybe bring in Mata or RVP then as well as seeing what budget defenders to go with and/or if Bosingwa continues starting at RB, etc.

      This week WC is knee-jerk I think and not worth it.

      wildcarding at this early stage imo is crazy, you have 2 games worth of information to select a team that you must stick with until xmas/Jan

      You really need to save it for a double gameweek or when you atleast have some form or a number of injuries to support your selections
