The second gameweek of the Premier League season comes to a close tonight at Old Trafford, as champions Manchester United play host to a Tottenham Hotspur side belatedly starting their league campaign. The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for business, so come in and take a seat whilst we mull over the all-important team news…

Injuries force Sir Alex to play an extremely young defence who, along with goalkeeper David De Gea, have an average age of just 22. Unforced however, is the youth in attack for the home side, who also have Javier Hernandez back in their match-day squad.

Man United XI: De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Evra, Anderson, Cleverley, Nani, Young, Rooney, Welbeck

As for the visitors, Luka Modric didn’t take the trip up the M1 because, according to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, “his head isn’t right” with speculation about his future still rife. Elsewhere, Brad Friedel makes his club debut and Jake Livermore starts after scoring midweek at Tynecastle.

Spurs XI: Friedel; Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Kranjcar, Livermore, Bale; Van der Vaart; Defoe

Take a pew in the Dugout Discussion chatroom, where you can follow all the action from tonight’s game.

Is it worth doing a four point hit to get Suarez in for Dzeko before the price rise?

I started this season with plan to minimise hits. Now facing first decision..

Torres & Toure out for Suarez & Silva ?

Short-term wise, I don't mind to give Torres one last chance.
He is 4x% on the fall. Not today, but will surely fall b4 Saturday.

Toure may be as well. So, T&T out and S&S in.

    Yes or No?

I can't see Torres dropping too much before Norwich at home mate. That's why I'm giving him one more chance whilst Aguero is getting up to full fitness.

I've got Yaya and Torres too and I had enough money for Silva (2.0 in the bank) I just fancied Yaya after watching him in the previous game. Save your transfer this week and use 2 at the start of the next game week if Torres is as bad again. Toure's value I can't see dropping much because he's a consistent scorer.

I've 0.5 in bank. Not enough for direct upgrade Toure to silva.

Liverpool fixture not actually good and Suarez still not playing 90 mins.

Umm.. I will have to keep my head so cool and see those two rise and prey for Torres not to drop.. :s

I don't think your average fantasy football player looks at fixtures too much. They will see Torres had another poor game and sell.

I think he's already the most transferred out player this week and that will only increase

Could be true, seems so hasty ahead of Norwich at home... AHHH!!!

I'd be more annoyed if I took him out and he went goal crazy, which to be fair, could happen.

Team value is important but the only player I'd change Torres for is Aguero who's at Tottenham away.

          Keep the faith.

Oh i'll likely keep him (unless we hear he'll be benched) but just pointing out he'll also likely drop in price. After checking FPL i can see he is the 2nd most transferred out player this week behind Vidic who is obviously being sold because of his injury

It's very unlikely for me to get near him again..

Unless, there are fundamental changes in the way Chelsea play and all the team go forward to him.

No. I've thought about it and decided one more week for Torres; I'd be so pissed if I dropped & he did score.

I definitely want to upgrade Toure to Silva though.

Take a look at Tot's fixtures until week 6.

Then, notice how VDV is really an intemperate little girl who stamps her feet every time something doesn't go well.

I wouldn't go near Tot anytime soon ... and even when things open up, I'd go Friedel over VDV. That doesn't help your middie issue, though.

Transfer-wise, I have Aguero but Suarez is catching my eye again.

Selection-wise, do you guys reckon I'm better off with Given (at home to Wolves) or Foster (at home to Stoke)?

Have that feeling both will probably concede one... Leaning towards Foster, he usually picks up a surreal number of points for saves.

why would you even have foster let alone both foster and given? one or the other but deifinitely not foster. you need a gk from a solid defensive side in order to pick up points from cleansheets. points from saves are minimal compared to those gained from a gk consistently picking up clean sheets

Is Arsenal coverage important? If so, I'd say Walcott or maybe a Ramsey. I think Arse needs to see what they bring in, if any, during the window and they need to settle from their injuries/suspensions before they're of real FPL use.

      By the way: Dench?

I've got Walcott on my watchlist AB... I love RVP in an almost inappropriate way, but at the moment I couldn't justify swapping Rooney out for him. Walcott may indeed be the way to way way. Although Wenger appears keen to sign a few more promising french wingers so there's always the threat of rotation to contend with.

Just a thought becasue the teams are nown squads and you have to pick a good squad to do well, i was thinking of the following rule change.

The highest earning players in your squad of 15 make up the points that you have for that gameweek - adn the lesser points stay on the bench - or count all points in a gameweek including bench becasue its a squad game.

I think this will help players and is advantage for everyone who can pick the right squad rather than guess is soemones groin injury is ready to take place in the starting 11.

First of all....... Are you serious?

        2nd:

Go to Telegraph fantasy football and play there. You get no subs so you wont have to worry about feeling aggrieved that you put the wrong players on your bench.

      You are completely wrong.
Some other game have that best 11 players by point be pick but that was broken because people put in first 11 players that want play for sure so that player or two from substitution which have most point be automatic put in.
Rules are what they are and they does not need any changing, only site need little more work.

It's like saying that in the premier league, each team should be able to play the first half with 16 players and then the people who aren't performing have to get substituted off at half time.

I didn't look at the captain poll to decide who to put as captain. I just put Torres as captain because he had a potentially great fixture and showed some raelly promising signs in the previous game. It just so happened that the highest percentile of choices was Torres.

I wouldn't always go against the pack either. The reason that most people agree on a point is usually because it's a well educated point.

This thing with torres, its a matter of preference at teh end of the day, its a 50:50 wether to keep him or transfer him is out is a good choice or not.
Personally, im keeping him in for this week against norwich, form can change in an instant, if he notches 1 goal i guarentee you he'll be off, and it will happen. I genuinely beleive he will score 1 or 2 this gameweek, deluded i may be, but how sorry will the people be who criticise him or transferred him out if he does? Definately worth the gamble imo 🙂

I had Silva in my team from the day FPL opened its doors until about 2 days before the GW2 deadline. Brought Toure in instead to allow me to have both Baines and Torres. Such is life...

Annoyingly a couple of the Australians I've joined a league with appear to have a vague idea about what they're doing: number 1 in our league is no21 in Australia. Although on the most part I'm getting killed by not having any BOLTON players, and the leader hilariously picked Rudd, rather than Ruddy as his backup keeper, so I'm hoping the good will out in the long-run.

welbeck's 3 shots all of which were on target could be key. rooney was far more involved all round (triple the passes in opposition half to welbeck, triple the key passes). 2 shots off target could cost rooney even though he had 4 on target
