The Gameweek Captain Poll is now open and sitting proudly in the middle column of your homepage.

While last week’s effort saw Chelsea’s Fernando Torres run away with the majority vote, only to fall flat yet again, this week’s poll already looks a far more intriguing affair.

We’ve just over 300 votes in already and the top rankings look keenly contested. Torres, despite failing once again to find the net against the Baggies, is once more a front runner with the Norwich defence due at the Bridge this weekend. The Spaniard is just one of four strikers currently leading the pack.

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez will surely get more than 19 minutes to inflict damage on an obliging Bolton defence at Anfield, while Wayne Rooney is another two-in-two striker with a home fixture this weekend. The ravaged Arsenal line-up looks likely to be patched once again – Rooney could be well placed to capitalise.

It’s Darren Bent who leads the way right now, though – but only just. He’ll be setting his sights on a Wolves defence at Villa Park on Saturday, although Mick McCarthy’s side will arrive with consecutive wins and just one goal against. Bent won’t find it easy then, but is currently the armband favourite off the back of a goal and an assist, in addition to Fantasy Premier League bonus, in last weekend’s 3-1 win over Blackburn.

Below this quartet we find Frank Lampard hovering, an option again boosted by the fact that Chelsea will be widely expected to notch at least a couple against Paul Lambert’s back-four. Likewise, Florent Malouda is an option currently garnering votes. David Silva is already being backed to prolong his sparkling start to the season, despite a testing trip to White Hart Lane, while a few are backing Victor Moses to recover from a knock to take the fight to QPR at the DW Stadium.

An interesting array of poll options, without a clear leader. Cast your vote at some point over the week and throw in your early opinions right here.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Mata should be handed the #10 jersey in Chelsea. Benayoun is not #10 material.

Views on Saha? Is his price going to drop? Viable replacements? I can upgrade him to Dzeko..?

I'd go Dzeko personally, plus Man.City have Norwich the week after so would be a good pick mate.

Thoughts on Bosingwa as captain? I fancy taking a risk being as though it should be an easy game for Chelsea. Thinking he may get a couple of assists and possible score?

Is a risk, a bold one but with a clean sheet and an assist he could score big!
Infact i'd rather captain him than Torres at the moment!

    My draft team:

    Hilario (Vorm)
Bosingwa Enrique Simpson (R Taylor, Gabbidon)
    Brunt Taarabt Malouda Nani Silva
    Suarez Rooney (DJ Campbell)

I have the option to downgrade Taarabt->Jarvis
    upgrade DJ->Long
would this be a better bet long term, Taarabt has me this week because of the Wigan fixture but long term what do people think?

I think you should because Long is much better than DJ and Jarvis will always be first team and he played amazing last game!

Cant believe some sh*t talk on here. Massive Liverpool fan, home and away but this Champ League talk is embarrasing. Its the champions league which i think says it all. I was in Istanbul and had one of the greatest footballing nights of my life, but i still feel only the champions should be in it and to even talk about squeezing in through some dodgy back door shows disrespect to any real fan of football so shut up you embarrasing muppets.

I am old enough to remember the Liverpool European cup wins in the 70s, but I dont believe that the competition was better overall than the current Champions league. Take a look at the number of times the European cup was retained, compared with how difficult it is for any team to win the Champions league consecutively. I know this annoys the hell out of Liverpool fans, but it is a lot harder to win the Champions league than the old European cup.

I've done the same too mate. I think there are more of us out there than women John Terry has assaulted. I am personally going to stick with Given this week because if I change it again I will surely get burned. I'm still going bonkers over the fact that he didn't get a bonus in the match at Craven Cottage. A Clean Sheet and 5 saves in a very tough 0-0 away fixture. This PPI Index has changed everything.

    Hello kids.
This is not a RMT more of a bit of advice from people im sure are in the same boat.. Its about the T word.. what to do about him?
Sell him for Roo, The drog per chance? Maybe one of the 2 Argies at Citeh or Dzeko..or most radical of all keep him for one more week in the forlorn hope that he'll come good!
Also any guidance on el capitan this week would be greatly appreciated.. Im over analysing everything..

Same problem, will keep Torres for this week, unless he plays well and scores at least 1, he is gone....He could be the differentiator with me catching up with some other teams in my mini league.

He wont though will he. Sigh.

Sessgnon captain. So close to scoring several these two past games, midfielder points, & plays right behind Gyan, almost as a striker and against Swansea. Super differential potential. (lol)

    Pick Long,Brunt or Morrison

West brom have 3 games.. this week against Stoke (H), next game aginst Norwich (A) n the 3rd match vs Swansea (A)

Should be an easy game and probably Shane Long will score more goals since he scored two goals in last two games..

I Think Brunt will get High points in each of 3 games by Assist..
He's Good Set-Piece and Corner kick
