The Gameweek Captain Poll is now open and sitting proudly in the middle column of your homepage.

While last week’s effort saw Chelsea’s Fernando Torres run away with the majority vote, only to fall flat yet again, this week’s poll already looks a far more intriguing affair.

We’ve just over 300 votes in already and the top rankings look keenly contested. Torres, despite failing once again to find the net against the Baggies, is once more a front runner with the Norwich defence due at the Bridge this weekend. The Spaniard is just one of four strikers currently leading the pack.

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez will surely get more than 19 minutes to inflict damage on an obliging Bolton defence at Anfield, while Wayne Rooney is another two-in-two striker with a home fixture this weekend. The ravaged Arsenal line-up looks likely to be patched once again – Rooney could be well placed to capitalise.

It’s Darren Bent who leads the way right now, though – but only just. He’ll be setting his sights on a Wolves defence at Villa Park on Saturday, although Mick McCarthy’s side will arrive with consecutive wins and just one goal against. Bent won’t find it easy then, but is currently the armband favourite off the back of a goal and an assist, in addition to Fantasy Premier League bonus, in last weekend’s 3-1 win over Blackburn.

Below this quartet we find Frank Lampard hovering, an option again boosted by the fact that Chelsea will be widely expected to notch at least a couple against Paul Lambert’s back-four. Likewise, Florent Malouda is an option currently garnering votes. David Silva is already being backed to prolong his sparkling start to the season, despite a testing trip to White Hart Lane, while a few are backing Victor Moses to recover from a knock to take the fight to QPR at the DW Stadium.

An interesting array of poll options, without a clear leader. Cast your vote at some point over the week and throw in your early opinions right here.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Out of 15 of those players I'd want to get rid of 15 of them...

Given: playing for a eam that just shipped 1 goal to blackburn

Ruddy: playing for a newly promoted side
Kompany: lesscott is a better threat, also Man City are less defensive

      Smalling: Rotation Risk

Jagielka: everton traditionally have bad starts to the season

Bosingwa: Could still be a rotation risk

Simspon: Newcastles clean sheets can't last for long

N'Zogbia: Playing more centrally, doesnt seem to be getting in on the action

Silva: Always the assist of the assist, never the assist itself

      Nani: Inconsistent and rotation risk

Ferguson: Might as well get a 4.5 that will play

Moses: Injured, not done anything for 2 whole games

      Suarez: Still doubts on fitness

Rooney: Already have Nani, could get RVP for the same price

Jones: Better options for his price

Consider your team rated, you get a big fat F

            You've got (had)
Given, NZog, Suarez, Rooney, Moses an everton and newcastle def and you've recc Lescott when you have Kompany.

ignore this post, quite possibly the worst one ive seen on this site... lol @ the fact he has Rooney, Moses, N'Zog, Kompany & Given yet berates you for having them...

Given's in good form and Villa have good fixtures ahead...

Main issue is Jones & Nani imo, Jones you can get someone a lot better, Stoke have tough home games coming up and not too great away from home; Gabby, Fletcher or Long are much better options. Nani, id be tempted to shift down to someone like Brunt/Jarvis and then upgrade Jones...

Meh, I just don't like these discussions becoming RMTs of people looking for validation of their team, where if they looked at any of the other RMTs(That being said, there's the paradox, if there was no RMTs, there wouldn't be ones to look at....) available then they'd see they probably have 6+ of the same players as everyone else.

On the guys team, they only things I'm serious aboutin my post would probably be Ferguson and maybe N'Zogbia, but with no Villa cover might want to keep him

Given: playing for a eam that just shipped 1 goal to blackburn - WTF great keeper

Ruddy: playing for a newly promoted side: Yep not great
Kompany: lesscott is a better threat, also Man City are less defensive. Bolton were clinical. City will earn cleanies

Smalling: Rotation Risk: Not at the moment

Jagielka: everton traditionally have bad starts to the season: Traditionally! this is football

Bosingwa: Could still be a rotation risk: like anyone else on this list.

Simspon: Newcastles clean sheets can’t last for long: nor can anyone's?!

N’Zogbia: Playing more centrally, doesnt seem to be getting in on the action: Agree! so far...

Silva: Always the assist of the assist, never the assist itself. Tosh. He gets bonus and all sorts + goals now.

Nani: Inconsistent and rotation risk. lol top scorer last season and the best crosser of the ball in the world! as well as best swinger shot in the world!

Ferguson: Might as well get a 4.5 that will play. yep!

Moses: Injured, not done anything for 2 whole games. yeah Bandwagon

Suarez: Still doubts on fitness. As with alot of other players!

Rooney: Already have Nani, could get RVP for the same price. RVP will struggle in the Arsenal team at the moment.

Jones: Better options for his price. Maybe but he is a good player

        Consider your team re-rated! 🙂

Anyone care to help a Yank? I’ve got some thoughts but I’d like to get the experts’ perspectives. Team:

    Vorm (Given)
    Bosingwa/Simpson/RTaylor (Shawcross, Kompany)
    Silva/Nani/Dyer/Jarvis (Brunt)
    Bent/Suarez/Torres

I already used my transfer on Taylor hoping to get a price rise, but I’m pretty happy with the team. Just not sure on who to start at mid, need 2 of Brunt/Dyer/Jarvis. Jarvis has a been a stud so I'm hesitant to sit him but he has probably the toughest fixture at AVL, while Brunt has Stoke at home and Dyer has Sunderland at home. Do you guys have any thoughts?

Also I'm thinking of sitting Kompany because while I think City will win, it seems to me that they may concede b/c WBA is scoring on everyone and City aren't at home. Will probably captain Suarez, but might switch to Bent as the AVL-Wolves game is the one we get on TV this weekend and I'll have twice as much fun watching it with so much at stake.

    Thanks!

start brunt.. bench jarvis.. start kompany bench simpson.. jarvis playing away to a defensively solid villa and you can never double up on newcastle defense.. captain bent for the fun part.. this game is about having fun.. in 50-50's i always captain a player from the game i'm watchin

Thanks for the advice. I wouldn't be very high on Dyer but he somehow pulled in 3 baps last game and wound up with a very solid 6 pts overall.

Think doubling up on Newcastle defenders is a bad idea? It's kind of tempting fate but they've been playing great and Fulham at home seems as good a chance at any for a clean sheet.

I'm no expert but here's my opinion:

      Jarvis/Brunt.

Double Newcastle defence is risky - Kompany would come in for me for Simpson.

Ha. Yeah, after captaining Drogba gw1 and Torres gw2 to a whopping 4 points combined, I'm pretty leery of Chelsea strikers. Still, Norwich at home is too tempting to pass on, I'm just not going to captain him this time. He's probably gone next week for Aguero/Dzeko or someone similar.

Neither are going to reap massive rewards. You must've seen how many chances they've both missed already. Championship>>>Prem is still a huge jump in class. These are cheap for a reason.

Better to stick with 3 established strikers and throw in a dopey mid imo

Ne stated regarding Nasri that he is great player for the team and we (him obviously and his team players) should not be mad and should understand if we aren't picked in some of the games. Even the player himself thinks that he is gonna be rotated. If u pick him its on your responsibility.

On the other hand he could deliver in one/two games

Thinking of having a punt on Bale. The City game is kind a game in which he could/ should perform. Against Micah who will go in attack. To bad they don't have a forward to covert his chances. Ade is still not gonna start but in midterm it could be fruitful partnership. Also in short term I expect for him to deliver the goods.

Sound thinking or I am imagining? Thoughts please.

But it was Utd, now they r at home. I think an "Inter game" if possible? Then he has Wol and Wig away, again both games in which he could deliver. I think both of the teams don't have good fullbacks. Then is Liv at home against Kelly but there is a hoping that G.J. will be healthy 😉

        Now?

P.S. I would love to have DVD but he is out of my price range.

Walker is very suspect defensively and was taken off at H/T last game so thats a big fat NO. He is just a prospect. Not an international player yet.
As for Kelly also still a prospect although more advanced than Walker and more defensively stable.

As for Smalling being a CB yes maybe in the future but he has the pace and power to rampage up the right hand side. He was awesome against Spurs and every time i see Smalling i am impressed.

He was taken off at H/T because he was ill, and was physically sick in the dressing room. FYI.
He was also arguably England's best player at the U21's tournament in the summer.

Smalling does not rampage. And he is probably half as fast as Walker or Richards. He's a centre half filling a hole for Ferguson, albeit very well.

If it were me I would ship, Everton looked very very shaky, might be a while before we see them find form, but then again, maybe not, I would ship though, to Fletcher maybe, I am downgrading Torres or Carroll next week anyway to Fletcher, great value for such a goal getter, Long is also of interest.

Kalou was one of the more puntish moves I have heard in this game, fleeting in his appearances for Chelsea with Drog/Le Sulk/Malouda/Torres fighting for the top 3.

Smalling for 3-4 weeks looks tasty, almost makes me want to WC again.

Dont like him early on. He is not on frees, corners or pens and cant see him adapting him that well

why can't you see him adapting well, why have you made such a sweeping assumption. based on nothing. ?

Nasri is good, but Mata is a different kettle of fish. A very very talented kettle of fish.

    Thoughts on Wolves' Ward?

Not seen their matches, but looking at his history it seems there's a good chance his goal to date this season is likely to be his only one.

Unless his role has changed at all?

If that free-kick had hit the bar and gone in, instead of coming back out, no-one would be taking Baines out. Actually, loads would be transferring him in.

I think people would pay money to here the nonsense that jas CFC Tom and maxi talk about. Kind of like the way Karl Pilkington is so funny because its hard to believe he is that thick.
