Slinking quietly into the velour chair of our virtual betting shop, cap dipped low after another mauling by Paddy, we slide another betting slip from the pile to take up the challenge again for this week’s Fantasy Flutter.

Did we shoot for the stars and overlook measured value for the big odds, or did our Scout Picks fall short of their predicted contributions? Perhaps a bit of both, but this week we are determined to chalk a few up for the good as Paddy market up Jose Bosingwa, Luis Suarez, Steven Taylor, David Silva and Shane Long, not to mention a tasty treble on the one hundered percent teams – Man United, Wolves and Man City. Read on to find out how our Picks play out in Paddys world…

The monobrowed maestro Jose Bosingwa has risen like a phoenix from the ashes under the stewardship of André Villas-Boas. In flying form, he mirrors Ashley Cole’s devestating overlaps and provides serious threat from Chelsea’s right flank. Paddy may have been a bit over-zealous with odds for him to get a red card at 40’s, having only been written into the referee’s book once last year, whereas 2 assists or more at 10/1 earns our interest and deserves a punt for £1.

Luis Suarez continues to poach goals whenever his slick footwork graces the turf and he’ll have a place in Fantasy managers and punters minds alike this weekend. Paddy have put together some pretty tempting specials here, including odds to score a header and to find the net from a free kick. Nice respectable odds with decent probability, but we fancy a spot of sabre rattling and are going to knock down 14/1 on Suarez to miss a penalty. With the Uruguayan failing to convert on the opening day, we’ll stake a quid on the planets aligning for this one.

With the last of the long shots out of our system, let’s get down to some serious betting with some semi-serious money. Next up is Steven Taylor against Fulham, challenging us with the likes of two or more goals at 80/1 and to score from outside the box at 22/1. Tempted? Sure. Do we remember last week’s thrashing by Paddy? Definitely. Newcastle stand a good chance of gaining a cleanie against The Cottagers but Taylor to get a brace? Too rich for our blood but have a sniff if you fancy backing the Magpies’ tower of strength.

Sans Tevez, David Silva is really making his mark on the Premier League this season in emphatic style. A veteran of the Scout Picks already this season, he glides between passes through the apparent acres of space that only he can find, notching up well earned bonus points along the way. As City push forward in numbers, Silva has a tendency to take a step off the line, lying in wait to pull the trigger if the ball is played square. With Spurs allowing Man United to remain mostly unchallenged in these situations in Monday night’s game, Silva to score from outside the box at 5/1 looks massive for £2.

If Paddy had given odds on Shane Long bullying the oft immovable Alex off the ball with such ease we wouldn’t have wasted time looking at them, let alone opened our wallets. But he did, the week after putting a goal away against United. Paddy are wagering completes a hat-trick of first goals this week against Stoke at the Hawthorns at 11/2, a worthy punt for £2.

Acca-not believe it!

Can the top three maintain their 100% records. Form big guns from Manchester United and City take on the out of sorts Londoners Arsenal and Spurs, whilst the clash between Wolves and Villa makes a surprise tussle for third place. Wolves look like the real risk here, although the journey time won’t be an issue and with Matt Jarvis on form as both provider and finisher last week, our final £4 goes on this huge treble of Man City, Man United and Wolves all to win at 14/1.

Check back next week to find out how our bets got on and how long it took us to count our winnings.

    1) is it worth trading out zamora as hes price has already dropped?
    2) why is everyone benching kompany? if manu can keep a cleanie vs tottenham, im sure man city can, can't they?

I'm playing Kompany and he's going to keep a cleanie and score and grab an assist and marry my sister and give me loads of cash.

I think there are better options than Zamora (See Shane Long)

City are more attack focused at the min and they may not keep clean sheets as a result.

He probably will go up in price when he hits a run of form (which he should do), but with Zamora you could be left waiting for that run of form.

Is it madness to play Jagielka ahead of Simpson. Already have Baines playing too. Just can't see Newcastle keeping another clean sheet/Fulham not scoring again.

Good chance Toon will keep another CS this week, especially if Zamora is injured.

They're playing with the back four and two midfielders playing pretty far back. It seems to have worked out well for them so far.

    Hi All
A real selection headache this week, which 3 of these 6 would you start?

    Taraabt (wig)
    Sinclair (SUN)
    Simpson (FUL)
    Brown (swa)
    N’Zog (WOL)
    Sess (swa)

They all have a case, but I’m leaning towards Sinclar, Sess & N’Zog. What do you think? (Assume formation not an issue)

Or even if he does I reckon he'll be subbed of after 60/70mins. Rooney always does well against arsenal so I'd expect at least a goal but LAMPARDDDDDDDD it is.

And as for the captain question, depends on whether or not you're a gambler. I think that the safe choice is Bent, but you just have to think at some point Torres is going to go absolutely nuts and home against Norwich seems a good time for that to happen.

Thanks for all the replies previously lads. I've reconsidered and here it is final question regarding the WC:

    Bent, Jarvis and Simpson or
Walcott, S. Fletch and S. Taylor?

    Cheers,

P.S. I have the second combo ATM and the first will leave me without Ars cover in the next nice set of fixtures.

id go for the first combo to be honest, bent has a nice run of fixtures, jarvis on form, simpson.. arsenal falling apart id wait till they get back on their feet before putting one of them in

Team as it stands for this GW:

    Schwarzer
    S Taylor/Baines/Warnock/Richards
    Yaya/A Young/Downing
    Graham/Torres/Bent

    Bench: Vorm/Moses/Woodgate/Hoolahan

Wondering if I should swap out Schwarzer for Vorm and one from the DEF for Moses. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I think you should play Moses instead of Yaya or one of the defenders. Yaya will be playing deep tommorow since De Jong is injured.

    hi

I'm not so used to bench my expensive DF, Kompany. Do you have any comment with this selection?
Should I start Kompany ahead of anyone?

    Vorm (Given)
Bosingwa - Simpson - Baines (Kompany, De Laet)
Silva - Sinclair - Sess. - Moses (Surman)
    Rooney - Bent - Suarez

The only two that I would consider would be Moses with the injury and Sess given SUN's form to this point. That being said, I don't think that City will keep a CS and Kompany's not going to get you any offense or BPs.

    How is this?
    Vorm (Given)
    Bosingwa Enrique S.Taylor (Brown Briggs)
    Silva Bale Jarvis Brunt (Dyer)
    Bent Suarez Rooney
2.0 im the bank, if Bale fails i will go Bale > Walcott for GW4, if not i will go Bent > RVP
Torn on whether to play Brown Away to Swansea or Taylor at home to Fulham
    Also Jarvis or Sinclair?

Fulham look like a tired team to me. Lacking in inspiration and leadership, so no Fulham players for me. Simpson is on form even though I'm amazed that a side in such a state as Newcastle have managed to keep two clean sheets against tough opposition. So go with Simpson.

Sinclair looks promising but I transferred him out last week since he hasn't done anything of note yet.

Jarvis has been on fire (as you know), so stick him in.

O'Hara? Why are you even thinking about him?

Thanks man, I was always gonna go with Jarvis but some people on here suggested O'Hara, ive been overseas for a few weeks so no idea how any of them have played.
you reckon Simpson still even with S.Taylor?

Yep. Simpson seems to be nailed on and is playing as part of a good defensive unit.

I had O'Hara in GW1 but transferred him out last week and from what I've seen to date tells me that it was a wise move.

I don't think that doubling up in defence is much of a problem. Tripling up seems a bit over the top but it worked for Tosey during the latter part of last season when he rotated between three Birmingham and three Stoke defenders.

If there were two teams who had good defences that rotated well then that would be my plan this season, but it's too early to tell which those two teams are after only two gameweeks.

I'm going to give Mata some time before i bring him in....
On the Chelsea website it says that Mata is unlikely to start as he is not match fit and has only trained twice, think he'll come on at the end for maybe half an hour....
