Slinking quietly into the velour chair of our virtual betting shop, cap dipped low after another mauling by Paddy, we slide another betting slip from the pile to take up the challenge again for this week’s Fantasy Flutter.

Did we shoot for the stars and overlook measured value for the big odds, or did our Scout Picks fall short of their predicted contributions? Perhaps a bit of both, but this week we are determined to chalk a few up for the good as Paddy market up Jose Bosingwa, Luis Suarez, Steven Taylor, David Silva and Shane Long, not to mention a tasty treble on the one hundered percent teams – Man United, Wolves and Man City. Read on to find out how our Picks play out in Paddys world…

The monobrowed maestro Jose Bosingwa has risen like a phoenix from the ashes under the stewardship of André Villas-Boas. In flying form, he mirrors Ashley Cole’s devestating overlaps and provides serious threat from Chelsea’s right flank. Paddy may have been a bit over-zealous with odds for him to get a red card at 40’s, having only been written into the referee’s book once last year, whereas 2 assists or more at 10/1 earns our interest and deserves a punt for £1.

Luis Suarez continues to poach goals whenever his slick footwork graces the turf and he’ll have a place in Fantasy managers and punters minds alike this weekend. Paddy have put together some pretty tempting specials here, including odds to score a header and to find the net from a free kick. Nice respectable odds with decent probability, but we fancy a spot of sabre rattling and are going to knock down 14/1 on Suarez to miss a penalty. With the Uruguayan failing to convert on the opening day, we’ll stake a quid on the planets aligning for this one.

With the last of the long shots out of our system, let’s get down to some serious betting with some semi-serious money. Next up is Steven Taylor against Fulham, challenging us with the likes of two or more goals at 80/1 and to score from outside the box at 22/1. Tempted? Sure. Do we remember last week’s thrashing by Paddy? Definitely. Newcastle stand a good chance of gaining a cleanie against The Cottagers but Taylor to get a brace? Too rich for our blood but have a sniff if you fancy backing the Magpies’ tower of strength.

Sans Tevez, David Silva is really making his mark on the Premier League this season in emphatic style. A veteran of the Scout Picks already this season, he glides between passes through the apparent acres of space that only he can find, notching up well earned bonus points along the way. As City push forward in numbers, Silva has a tendency to take a step off the line, lying in wait to pull the trigger if the ball is played square. With Spurs allowing Man United to remain mostly unchallenged in these situations in Monday night’s game, Silva to score from outside the box at 5/1 looks massive for £2.

If Paddy had given odds on Shane Long bullying the oft immovable Alex off the ball with such ease we wouldn’t have wasted time looking at them, let alone opened our wallets. But he did, the week after putting a goal away against United. Paddy are wagering completes a hat-trick of first goals this week against Stoke at the Hawthorns at 11/2, a worthy punt for £2.

Acca-not believe it!

Can the top three maintain their 100% records. Form big guns from Manchester United and City take on the out of sorts Londoners Arsenal and Spurs, whilst the clash between Wolves and Villa makes a surprise tussle for third place. Wolves look like the real risk here, although the journey time won’t be an issue and with Matt Jarvis on form as both provider and finisher last week, our final £4 goes on this huge treble of Man City, Man United and Wolves all to win at 14/1.

Check back next week to find out how our bets got on and how long it took us to count our winnings.

I'm desperately hoping Drogba starts ahead of Torres.

Before I crash out, I'm going to have a mini-rant.

[rant] When I see replies like "Well if you aren't going to play expensive player X against crappy team Y, then when are you going to play him?" it just makes me want to imagine my hand appearing from the poster's monitor (in a kind of virtual reality/poor CGI kind of way) and repeatedly slap them round the face in super speed, then withdraw slowly back into the monitor leaving them baffled and bewildered but in some sort of mild pain.

There are a few reasons why you bench an expensive player:

    1) He's not on form at the moment but will probably regain it.
    2) He's suddenly become a rotation risk.
    3) He's playing well but for a team who are temporarily off form.
    4) Someone has hacked his voicemail messages from Sepp Blatter.
    5) He's playing a team on great form and will get no CS points.
    6) He's knackered after playing a midweek match.
    7) His manager will play a new formation which doesn't suit him.
    8) His new haircut is more important to him than playing well.
    9) His father has been kidnapped.
    10) He's Belgian.

    etc, etc.

    [/rant]

    Thanks for reading.

So goodnight and best of luck for this gameweek.

Remember GW4 doesn't start for over 2 weeks. And there's 2 sets of international matches before that. At a glance I can see at least 8 or 9 international players in each team, so you'd be very lucky if none pick up a knock.

So the question is fairly redundant right now.

Not to mention you'll be mad to go for whichever players do the business in GW3, similar to how your currents teams are going for the likes of Jarvis, Ryan & Steve Taylor, Silva etc.

Oh and there's also the small matter of the transfer window closing, which means heaps more activity in the market and potential bargains.

So once again the question is redundant right now.

Rooney on the other hand is gonna score twice but he'll also get booked and miss a penalty which might jeopardise his BPs but he'll make up for it by scoring a home run touchdown.. wait my crystal ball is messing up again.

Good team mate, only suggestions are maybe Alex->Bosingwa and then Sinclair-> Taarabt in my opinion.
Bosingwa will offer more in attack and assist prospects, and i think Taarabt will score well against Wigan.

Can someone qive me a quick idea on whether i should be doing a transfer this week
    my team is as follows-:
    Given, Foster
    Kompany, Cole, Brown, Seenderos, Simpson
    Jarvis, Sessegnon, Ramsey, N'Zogbia, Taarabt
    Suarez,Aguero,Bent
I am confused whom should i be transferring out and that is if i should be?

No. Save your two frees for next week when you will need them. Your team is good enough to get you by this week.

The question you really need to decide is: 4-3-3 or 3-4-3?

I agree, save your transfer n make 2 next week. I wouldd play 3-4-3 and bench ramsey(can't believe I'm asking someone to bench an Arsenal player in favour of a QPR player, how times change!!!)
But more importantly I wouldn't transfer.

I'd not make any transfers this GW. Your squad looks decent with a strong front 3. Save your transfer so you have 2 for GW4 in 2 weeks. Well, that's what I'd do and am doing even with Saha and Torres in my team.

Is a tricky call for me but is dependent on the the rest of your team. Questions like do you have Given in goal? Wolves are flying high so could very well score at Villa. I see that happening. Blackburn haven't started well so Everton may have better CS potential. If you think Blackburn likely to score too, then maybe got for the more attacking Warnock.

Simpson and coin toss. Playing Senderos gives you the double coverage for the NEW v FUL game. If there's 1 CS in there, you're guaranteed to get it. Simpson more likely. Or you don't want to play that way.
