Slinking quietly into the velour chair of our virtual betting shop, cap dipped low after another mauling by Paddy, we slide another betting slip from the pile to take up the challenge again for this week’s Fantasy Flutter.

Did we shoot for the stars and overlook measured value for the big odds, or did our Scout Picks fall short of their predicted contributions? Perhaps a bit of both, but this week we are determined to chalk a few up for the good as Paddy market up Jose Bosingwa, Luis Suarez, Steven Taylor, David Silva and Shane Long, not to mention a tasty treble on the one hundered percent teams – Man United, Wolves and Man City. Read on to find out how our Picks play out in Paddys world…

The monobrowed maestro Jose Bosingwa has risen like a phoenix from the ashes under the stewardship of André Villas-Boas. In flying form, he mirrors Ashley Cole’s devestating overlaps and provides serious threat from Chelsea’s right flank. Paddy may have been a bit over-zealous with odds for him to get a red card at 40’s, having only been written into the referee’s book once last year, whereas 2 assists or more at 10/1 earns our interest and deserves a punt for £1.

Luis Suarez continues to poach goals whenever his slick footwork graces the turf and he’ll have a place in Fantasy managers and punters minds alike this weekend. Paddy have put together some pretty tempting specials here, including odds to score a header and to find the net from a free kick. Nice respectable odds with decent probability, but we fancy a spot of sabre rattling and are going to knock down 14/1 on Suarez to miss a penalty. With the Uruguayan failing to convert on the opening day, we’ll stake a quid on the planets aligning for this one.

With the last of the long shots out of our system, let’s get down to some serious betting with some semi-serious money. Next up is Steven Taylor against Fulham, challenging us with the likes of two or more goals at 80/1 and to score from outside the box at 22/1. Tempted? Sure. Do we remember last week’s thrashing by Paddy? Definitely. Newcastle stand a good chance of gaining a cleanie against The Cottagers but Taylor to get a brace? Too rich for our blood but have a sniff if you fancy backing the Magpies’ tower of strength.

Sans Tevez, David Silva is really making his mark on the Premier League this season in emphatic style. A veteran of the Scout Picks already this season, he glides between passes through the apparent acres of space that only he can find, notching up well earned bonus points along the way. As City push forward in numbers, Silva has a tendency to take a step off the line, lying in wait to pull the trigger if the ball is played square. With Spurs allowing Man United to remain mostly unchallenged in these situations in Monday night’s game, Silva to score from outside the box at 5/1 looks massive for £2.

If Paddy had given odds on Shane Long bullying the oft immovable Alex off the ball with such ease we wouldn’t have wasted time looking at them, let alone opened our wallets. But he did, the week after putting a goal away against United. Paddy are wagering completes a hat-trick of first goals this week against Stoke at the Hawthorns at 11/2, a worthy punt for £2.

Acca-not believe it!

Can the top three maintain their 100% records. Form big guns from Manchester United and City take on the out of sorts Londoners Arsenal and Spurs, whilst the clash between Wolves and Villa makes a surprise tussle for third place. Wolves look like the real risk here, although the journey time won’t be an issue and with Matt Jarvis on form as both provider and finisher last week, our final £4 goes on this huge treble of Man City, Man United and Wolves all to win at 14/1.

Check back next week to find out how our bets got on and how long it took us to count our winnings.

I'm giving the C to Lampard. Have Torres, playing him, but definitely not giving him the C. Have Bent too and would give him the C over Torres.

It's early in the season, I wouldn't worry about a 20 points deficit or have that affect my fantasy thinking. Can result in some silly decisions.

I was thinking of giving him at least 1 more GW, reasons being he scored 10 goals in 17 games last season, he's been training like crazy and wants to go out with a bang (may retire after this season), he has potential to score big and he will probably be starting this week. I may be wrong and misguided but I was thinking of transferring out him and Torres next week if they both draw blanks this weekend

I also have Saha. I thought about doing a points hit transfer to get him out the night before his price drop. Didn't do the transfer and now it is too late. He's on my bench (worried he doesn't start because of his tweet and that the Guardian have Anichebe starting). Saving the transfer for next GW. And yes, I have regrets but hoping my no points hit and transfer save helps. That's what I'm doing. If he does go crazy today, maybe get his price drop back. Doubt it though.

Maybe he is just gutted that Everton are off to a bad start, I have just done an advanced google search and as Beckford is injured most sites seem to think he will start and there is no mention of any injury. I thought that he played 20 mins without injury last weekend, Beckford was crap and is injured so he will be a definite starter unless injured. When he does play 90 minutes he does tend to score - 9 goals in 11 last season

                8.19pm last night:
                Predicted Lineup:

                Saha

                Cahill

                Osman - Fellaini - Rodwell - Arteta

                Baines - Distin - Jagielka - Neville

                Howard

Saha gets the start up top after returning to full fitness, and Cahill recovers enough in time to man his usual place between the midfield and forward. Should Cahill be unable to play either Billy or Barkley will get the start up top.

Agreed. You sold Saha for a hit and benched Silva. Would have just benched Saha and saved the 4 points. But fortune sometimes favours the brave, good luck sir

Personally, although ive got N'Zogbia starting, i would play Silva over him. Form over fixture for me. I was listening to the Villa game last week, granted its not as useful for telling how players are performing, but N'Zog didn't seem to be involved much, especially in the final third. Could be totally wrong here but N'Zog is near the top of the getting rid of pile for me

So you are backing Spurs to beat City, interesting.

I can't believe your are benching Silva to be honest - what's the rest of your team?

If you are set on these as your subs I would order them Silva Brown Kompany.

Not being able to use the drop down filter to see who rose or fell is really irritating! 🙁
Anyone done a list of risers and faller? Cheers

Mad to be benching Moses? If so, who would you give the boot?

    Hilario
    Bosingwa, Dunne, Simpson
    Silva, Nani, Sinclair, Sessegnon
    Torres, Suarez, Bent

    Ruddy, Moses, Brown, Senderos

      Sessegnon?

Moses plays and you'll want him on the field, if he doesn't Sess comes in for him.

I'm between Sessegnon, Sinclair & Moses. Swaying towards benching Moses due to a) injury concerns, b) Sinclair being on set pieces and at home, c) Sessegnon playing OOP and looks due a goal.

          a) is moot - if he's injured your bench will step in
          b) agree on Sinclair
          c) Sess is wasteful, a more advanced Gibson - he could score, but Moses is at home and is just as likely to score (if he plays)

Hmm, what about if Moses starts on the bench and gets a 30 min run out? Doubtful i guess, but possible. Sess and Moses were both banging them in preseason, and I fancy Sunderland to win today. This is bothering me more than my (c) choice!

Im benching Moses and playing Dyer over him. The fact that he may only play 30 minutes or so is the my reasoning.

Guys, one quick question. Should I swap out yaya toure and if so to who? My alternative is aguero to Suarez?

no swap out yaya toure! you'll be wanting aguero next week! and aguero is more likely to earn you points this week than yaya
